Introduction

The oceans are full of unsolved mysteries. Its depths have been beckoning a person since time immemorial, people strive to uncover its secrets, but to this day the ocean is the least explored area of the globe. No one knows exactly what is under many kilometers of water. In the unexplored depths of the ocean - unusual animals, huge monsters, dangerous whirlpools, treacherous currents and deep gutters, seamounts and hills, corals, sunken ships and submerged islands, and maybe even unknown to science races - a whole world that has yet to be discovered and explored.

Modern scientists put forward the hypothesis that the Earth and the ocean are living beings: after all, life originated in water, and it is water that makes up most of the globe and all its inhabitants. This is the simplest and most mysterious substance. Water has a memory and can react to the environment, in whatever state - solid, liquid or gaseous - it may be.

An experiment was conducted in Japan: different words were pronounced over water with different emotions, then the water was frozen and the formed ice crystals were studied under a microscope. The result amazed the researchers and exceeded all their expectations.

Water, over which affectionate words were spoken, words of gratitude or declarations of love, when frozen, formed crystals of extraordinary beauty, harmoniously located in relation to the center of symmetry. The ice formed from the water, over which they shouted or cursed, looked ugly and asymmetrical under a microscope. This is explained by the fact that any word uttered by a person, any sound has its own vibration, which is remembered by water. Moreover, water can not only hear, but also perceive thoughts and feelings. Water carries all the information it encounters.

This means that the ocean - a huge mass of water - is truly a storehouse of the unknown, a thousand-year-old human memory! And maybe not only human? Perhaps he remembers unknown, long-forgotten peoples, extinct legendary creatures, aliens from other planets, events of bygone days, buried under a layer of epochs?

Since ancient times, there have been legends about the mysterious inhabitants of the deep sea. Sailing the seas, people face the inexplicable natural phenomena, for example, the glow of water or the appearance of strange light spots on the surface; they see unusual inhabitants of the ocean, sometimes accompanying boats and ships. People hear strange noises that seem to come from the bottom of the sea, listen with fascination to stories about missing ships and crews, about formidable pirates and their lost treasures. The real Robinsons-romantics of their own free will go to live on uninhabited islands and find happiness in harmony with nature...

In preparing this book, we used many written and oral sources, including ancient legends and traditions. Who knows, maybe they are the answer? Maybe our distant ancestors, whose life depended on the vagaries of the elements, learned to take them for granted and even fight them, and perhaps even subjugate them, and knew something that we do not know? Maybe thousands of years ago people were wiser than us?

Be that as it may, mankind has yet to unravel all the mysteries of the ocean. But, probably, behind each unraveled mystery, another one will appear, then another and another ... The process of cognition is endless, and that's wonderful!

Anomalous zones

There are several on our planet mysterious zones attracting the close attention of researchers. Scientists believe that there is a Devil's Belt that spans the Earth: the Bermuda Triangle, the Gibraltar wedge, the Afghan anomalous zone, the Hawaiian anomalous zone, and the Devil's Sea. All these zones are located along the thirtieth degree of northern latitude, at equal distance from each other. In 1968, the famous American hydrobiologist and researcher A. T. Sanderson first put forward the idea that anomalous zones are interconnected. Many scientists agree with this opinion.

AT geopathogenic zone you can notice strange, unusual, defying logical explanation phenomena. For example, there are almost no plants and animals here, a person becomes depressed, begins to feel unaccountable fear, even panic, in addition, the flow and perception of time are disturbed.

The reasons for the appearance of anomalous zones have not been precisely established. It is assumed that they can be provoked, for example, by deep faults in the crystalline rocks of the earth, as well as magnetic anomalies.

Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle - an area in the Atlantic Ocean bounded by Florida and Bermuda, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas - is famous for the mysterious, mystical disappearances of ships and aircraft. For many years, he has been bringing real horror to the population of the globe - after all, stories about inexplicable disasters and ghost ships are on everyone's lips.

Numerous researchers are trying to explain the anomaly of the Bermuda Triangle. Basically, these are theories of ship abductions by aliens from outer space or residents of Atlantis, moving through holes in time or rifts in space, and other paranormal causes. None of these hypotheses has yet been confirmed.

Opponents of "otherworldly" versions argue that reports of mysterious events in the Bermuda Triangle are greatly exaggerated. Ships and aircraft also disappear in other parts of the world, sometimes without a trace. A radio malfunction or the suddenness of a disaster can prevent the crew from transmitting a distress call. In addition, searching for debris at sea is a very difficult task.

The Bermuda Triangle is also called the "devil's sea", "the cemetery of the Atlantic", "the voodoo sea", "the sea of the damned".

A hypothesis has been proposed that explains the sudden death of ships and aircraft by gas emissions - for example, as a result of the decay of methane hydrate on the seabed, when the density is lowered so much that the ships cannot stay afloat. Some speculate that when methane rises into the air, it could also cause plane crashes, for example, due to a decrease in air density.

In the 1970s, the circulation of Charles Berlitz's Bermuda Triangle reached almost 20 million copies. So the Bermuda Triangle "fell into the hands" of a very wide readership. And only then did true glory come to him.

It has been suggested that the cause of the death of some ships, including those in the Bermuda Triangle, may be the so-called wandering waves, which can reach a height of 30 meters. It is also assumed that infrasound can be generated at sea, which affects the crew of a ship or aircraft, causing panic, as a result of which people leave the ship.

Consider natural features this region is really extremely interesting and unusual.

Square bermuda triangle is just over a million square kilometers. There are huge shallows and deep-water depressions, a shelf with shallow banks, a continental slope, marginal and median plateaus, deep straits, abyssal plains, deep-water trenches, a complex system sea currents and entangled atmospheric circulation.

The Bermuda Triangle or Atlantis is a place where people disappear, ships and planes disappear, navigation instruments fail, and almost no one ever finds the crashed. This hostile, mystical, sinister country for a person instills such great horror in the hearts of people that they often simply refuse to talk about it.

Many pilots and sailors have no other alternative than to constantly surf the water / air spaces of this mysterious territory - a considerable flow of tourists and vacationers rushes into the area surrounded on three sides by fashionable resorts. Therefore, it is simply impossible and impossible to isolate the Bermuda Triangle from the world around it. And, although most of the ships pass this zone without any problems, no one is immune from the fact that one day they may not return.

About the existence of such a mysterious and amazing phenomenon called the Bermuda Triangle a hundred years ago, few people knew. To actively occupy people's minds and force them to put forward various hypotheses and theories, this mystery of the Bermuda Triangle began in the 70s. of the last century, when Charles Berlitz published a book in which he described the stories of the most mysterious and mystical disappearances in this region in an extremely interesting and fascinating way. After that, the journalists picked up the story, developed the theme, and the story of the Bermuda Triangle began. Everyone began to worry about the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle and the place where the Bermuda Triangle or the missing Atlantis is located.

This wonderful place or the missing Atlantis is located in the Atlantic Ocean near the coast North America- between Puerto Rico, Miami and Bermuda. Placed in two climatic zones at once: top part, large - in the subtropics, lower - in the tropics. If these points are connected with each other by three lines, a large triangular figure will appear on the map, the total area of which is about 4 million square kilometers.

This triangle is rather conditional, since ships also disappear outside its borders - and if you mark on the map all the coordinates of the disappearances, flying and floating Vehicle, then it will most likely turn out to be a rhombus.

The term itself is unofficial, its author is Vincent Gaddis, who in the 60s. last century published an article entitled "The Bermuda Triangle is the lair of the devil (death)". The note did not cause much excitement, but the phrase was fixed and reliably came into use.

Terrain features and possible causes of crashes

At knowledgeable people the fact that ships often crash here is not particularly surprising: this region is not easy to navigate - there are many shoals, great amount fast water and air currents, cyclones often arise and hurricanes rage.

Bottom

What is hidden in the Bermuda Triangle under water? The bottom relief in this area is interesting and varied, although it is nothing ordinary and has been studied quite well, since some time ago various studies and drilling were carried out here in order to find oil and other minerals.

Scientists have determined that the Bermuda Triangle or the missing Atlantis contains mainly sedimentary rocks on the ocean floor, the thickness of which is from 1 to 2 km, and it looks like this:

 1. Deep-water plains of oceanic basins - 35%;
 2. Shelf with shoals - 25%;
 3. The slope and foot of the mainland - 18%;
 4. Plateau - 15%;
 5. Deep ocean trenches - 5% (here are the deepest places Atlantic Ocean, as well as its maximum depth - 8742m, recorded in the Puerto Rican depression);
 6. Deep straits - 2%;
 7. Seamounts - 0.3% (there are six in total).

Water currents. Gulfstream

Almost the entire western part of the Bermuda Triangle is crossed by the Gulf Stream, so the air temperature here is usually 10 ° C higher than in the rest of this mysterious anomaly. Because of this, in the places of collisions of atmospheric fronts of different temperatures, one can often see fog, which often strikes the mind of overly impressionable travelers.

The Gulf Stream itself is a very fast current, the speed of which often reaches ten kilometers per hour (it should be noted that many modern transoceanic ships move slightly faster - from 13 to 30 km / h). An extremely fast flow of water can easily slow down or increase the movement of the ship (it all depends on which direction it is sailing). There is nothing surprising in the fact that ships of weaker power in the old days easily went off course and were swept absolutely in the wrong direction, as a result of which they suffered wrecks and disappeared forever in the oceanic abyss.

Other currents

In addition to the Gulf Stream, strong but irregular currents constantly arise in the Bermuda Triangle, the appearance or direction of which is almost never predictable. They are formed mainly under the influence of tidal and ebb waves in shallow water and their speed is as high as that of the Gulf Stream - and is about 10 km / h.

As a result of their occurrence, whirlpools are often formed, causing trouble for small ships with a weak engine. There is nothing surprising in the fact that if in former times a sailing ship got here, it was not easy for him to get out of the whirlwind, and under especially unfavorable circumstances, one might even say - impossible.

water shafts

In the area of the Bermuda Triangle, hurricanes are often formed, the wind speed of which is about 120 m / s, also generating fast currents, the speed of which is equal to the speed of the Gulf Stream. They, creating huge shafts, rush along the surface of the Atlantic Ocean until they hit the coral reefs at great speed, breaking the ship if it had the misfortune to be in the path of giant waves.

In the east of the Bermuda Triangle, the Sargasso Sea is located - a sea without coasts, surrounded on all sides instead of land by the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean - the Gulf Stream, the North Atlantic, the North Trade Wind and the Canary.

Outwardly, it seems that its waters are motionless, the currents are weak and hardly noticeable, while the water here is constantly moving, because water streams, pouring into it from all sides, rotate sea water clockwise.

Another remarkable thing about the Sargasso Sea is the huge amount of algae in it (contrary to popular belief, there are also areas with completely clear water). When in former times ships were brought here for some reason, they got entangled in dense sea plants and, falling into a whirlpool, albeit slowly, they were no longer able to get back.

The movement of air masses

Since this area lies in the region of the trade winds, extremely strong winds constantly blow over the Bermuda Triangle. Stormy days are not uncommon here (according to various meteorological services, there are about eighty stormy days here a year - that is, once every four days the weather here is terrible and disgusting.

Here is another explanation of why missing ships and planes were found earlier. It is now that almost all captains are aware of the meteorologists when exactly the weather will be bad. Previously, due to the lack of information, during terrible storms, many sea vessels found their last refuge in this area.

In addition to the trade winds, cyclones feel comfortable here, the air masses of which, creating whirlwinds and tornadoes, rush at a speed of 30-50 km / h. They are extremely dangerous, because, raising warm water up, they turn it into huge water columns (often their height reaches 30 meters), with an unpredictable trajectory and crazy speed. A small ship in such a situation has practically no chance of surviving, a large one is likely to stay afloat, but it is unlikely to get out of trouble safe and sound.

Infrasonic signals

Another reason for the huge number of accidents, experts call the ability of the ocean to produce infrasound signals that cause panic among the crew, because of which people can even throw themselves overboard. The sound of this frequency affects not only waterfowl, but also aircraft.

Researchers assign an important role in this process to hurricanes, storm winds and high waves. When the wind starts to beat against the crests of the waves, a low-frequency wave arises, which almost immediately rushes forward and signals the approach of a strong storm. While moving, she catches up with the floating ship, hits the sides of the ship, then goes down to the cabins.

Once in a confined space, the infrasonic wave begins to psychologically put pressure on the people there, causing panic and nightmare visions, and when they see their worst nightmares, people lose control of themselves and jump overboard in despair. The ship completely leaves life, it is left without control and begins to drift until it is found (which can take more than one decade).

The infrasonic wave acts on aircraft in a slightly different way. An infrasonic wave hits a plane flying over the Bermuda Triangle, which, as in the previous case, begins to psychologically put pressure on the pilots, as a result, they stop thinking about what they are doing, especially since at this moment phantoms begin to appear in front of them. Further, either the pilot will crash, or he will be able to take the ship out of the dangerous zone for him, or the autopilot will save him.

Gas bubbles: methane

Researchers are constantly putting forward Interesting Facts about the Bermuda Triangle. For example, there are suggestions that in the area of the Bermuda Triangle bubbles often form, filled with gas - methane, which appears from cracks in the ocean floor that were formed after the eruptions of ancient volcanoes (oceanographers found huge accumulations of methane crystal hydrate above them).

After some time, certain processes begin to occur in methane for one reason or another (for example, their appearance can cause a weak earthquake) - and it forms a bubble, which, rising up, bursts at the surface of the water. When this happens, the gas escapes into the air, and a funnel forms in place of the former bubble.

Sometimes the ship passes over the bubble without problems, sometimes it breaks through it, and crashes. In reality, no one has ever seen the impact of methane bubbles on ships, some researchers claim that a huge number of ships go missing for this very reason.

When the ship hits the crest of one of the waves, the ship begins to descend - and then the water under the ship suddenly bursts, disappears - and it falls into empty space, after which the waters close - and water rushes into it. There is no one to save the ship at this time - when the water disappeared, concentrated methane gas escaped, instantly killing the entire crew, and the ship sinks, and forever ends up on the ocean floor.

The authors of this hypothesis are convinced that this theory also explains the reasons for the presence of ships with dead sailors in this area, on whose bodies no injuries were found. Most likely, the ship, when the bubble burst, was far enough away that something threatened it, but the gas got to people.

As for airplanes, methane can also have a detrimental effect on them. Basically, this happens when methane that has risen into the air enters the fuel, explodes, and the plane falls down, after which, falling into a whirlpool, it disappears forever in the ocean depths.

Magnetic anomalies

In the area of the Bermuda Triangle, magnetic anomalies also often occur, confusing all the navigational equipment of ships. They are unstable, and appear mainly when the tectonic plates diverge as much as possible.

As a result, unstable electric fields and magnetic disturbances that adversely affect psychological condition man, changing instrument readings and neutralizing radio communications.

Hypotheses for the disappearance of ships

The mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle never cease to interest the human mind. Why it is here that ships crash and disappear, journalists and lovers of everything unknown put forward many more theories and assumptions.

Some believe that interruptions in navigation instruments are caused by Atlantis, namely its crystals, which were previously located precisely on the territory of the Bermuda Triangle. Despite the fact that from ancient civilization only tiny crumbs of information have come down to us, these crystals are still active and send signals from the depths of the ocean floor that cause interruptions in navigation instruments.

One more interesting theory, is the hypothesis that the Bermuda Triangle or Atlantis contains portals leading to other dimensions (both in space and in time). Some are even sure that it was through them that aliens penetrated the Earth in order to kidnap people and ships.

Military operations or piracy - many believe (even if this is not proven) that the loss of modern ships is directly related to these two reasons, especially since such cases have happened repeatedly before. Human error - ordinary disorientation in space and incorrect interpretation of instrument indicators may well be the cause of the death of the ship.

Is there a secret?

Have all the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle been revealed? Despite the excitement raised around the Bermuda Triangle, scientists argue that in reality this territory is no different, and a large number of accidents are mainly associated with difficult navigation natural conditions(especially since the World Ocean contains many other places that are more dangerous for humans). And the fear that causes the Bermuda Triangle or the missing Atlantis are ordinary prejudices, constantly fueled by journalists and other sensation lovers.

For the first time, the name "Bermuda Triangle" was created by the American publicist E. Jones. In his small pamphlet, he described unusual cases of the disappearance of ships in the area of the Sargasso Sea - the "Devil's Sea".

The triangle is formed by the conditional connection of three points: the southern tip of the island of Florida, Bermuda and the island of Puerto Rico. This mysterious place in the Atlantic Ocean is known for numerous disappearances of ships, it is often seen here. Flying Dutchman and ghost ships. Sometimes they find the remains of ships and aircraft, but the causes of accidents and crashes remain a mystery. There is only one indisputable fact - in this area of the Sargasso Sea there is the largest number shipwrecks.

Perhaps the most mysterious case that occurred in the Bermuda Triangle (BT) falls on 1881. The English ship "Ellen Austin" found an abandoned schooner in the ocean. She was undamaged, with valuable mahogany cargo on board, but the ship's crew and name were missing. Two sailors were sent to the schooner to escort. Both ships headed for Newfoundland, but a dense fog hid them from each other. A few days later, the schooner and the ship met, but the sailors who were sent to the schooner disappeared. The commander of the English ship was never able to force the superstitious sailors to board the schooner for the second time.

A common feature of all the mysterious incidents in the Bermuda Triangle is that surface and air transport, as well as the people who are in it, disappear instantly, leaving no trace on the surface of the Sargasso Sea, the sea of the devil. Remains of some sunken ships and aircraft aircraft found later at the bottom of the sea, but the finding of human remains is not mentioned. Such a mystery, of course, is the subject of close attention and serves as a pretext for the emergence of a huge number of hypothetical theories, both scientific and pseudoscientific.

Scientific theories are based on characteristics district. What are these features?

The "Cemetery of the Atlantic", as the BT is also called, is characterized by strong currents. The Gulf Stream is the dominant warm current, but the North Atlantic, Florida, South and North trade winds, inter-trade winds and local currents also operate. The main current randomly changes its location and speed, impedes or slows down the passage of ships sailing against the current. The Gulf Stream creates deflections and eddies of considerable strength, which can exist for a long time, affecting the state of the sea.

Thick fog forms at the borders of the warm Gulf Stream and cold currents.

The bottom relief is also diverse in the BT: continental slopes, deep-water trenches, shelf with shallow banks, middle and marginal plateaus, abyssal plains, and deep straits. At the bottom is the deepest trench in the Atlantic Ocean - Puerto Rico.

Currents serve as the boundaries for the Sargasso Sea. The sea is named after a large accumulation of brown algae, sargasso, which grow in regular rows. It is the Sargasso and the northernmost coral reefs in the Bermuda Triangle that have a huge impact on the Earth's climate, absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Natural conditions here remain practically unchanged for 100 million years.

Changes in currents, trade winds, tornadoes, tropical cyclones, severe storms, and fog make accurate weather predictions impossible.

The vessels left without a crew can be explained by a scientific hypothesis, which Academician V.V. Shuleikin gave the name "voice of the sea". According to the hypothesis, the reason for the flight of the crew are infrasonic vibrations generated in the water. Shuleikin built his hypothesis on the basis of the discovery of the hydrologist V. A. Berezkin, who, while sailing on the Taimyr hydrographic vessel, accidentally discovered that if a pilot balloon is held near the ear at the time of the approach of a storm, then severe pain is subsequently felt in the ears.

With a strong wind and a storm above the sea surface, the flow is stalled at the crest of the wave, rarefaction and condensation of air occur, propagating in the form of sound transverse and longitudinal vibrations. The voice of the sea propagates at the speed of sound, and the main infrasonic radiation is recorded in the 6 Hz range. Without significant weakening, the voice of the sea can go hundreds and thousands of kilometers.

Thus, a thousand kilometers from a raging storm, the crew of a ship can go crazy with vibrations of 6 Hz. At first, a person experiences a feeling of anxiety, which develops into fear and panic, while he does not fix a visible source of fear. Ancient instincts make a person, without hesitation, "flee" from the disaster area.

There are also hypotheses that occupy an intermediate position between scientific theories and pseudoscientific hypotheses. Only a few scientists support the hypothesis of the Soviet astronomer-astrophysicist Nikolai Aleksandrovich Kozyrev. Rest scientific world considers him a freak.

Kozyrev suggested that all existing laws of motion are just an approximate form of exact laws that mankind has not yet discovered.

A. Eddington, an English physicist, put forward a theory about the direct dependence of the direction of time and the expansion of the Universe. He called this phenomenon "the arrow of time." When the absorption of matter by black holes is over, then, perhaps, the arrow of time will turn in the opposite direction, and the expansion will be replaced by contraction.

Kozyrev, supporting Eddington, believed that time is a physical factor, and its course is determined by linear speed reversal of cause in relation to effect. Time - a physical factor - must obey the basic laws of physics, for example, the laws of absorption and reflection.

During experiments in which the gyroscope was spun along the arrow of time, the weight did not change. When spinning in the opposite direction, against the passage of time, the gyroscope became a little lighter. This means that time exerted pressure, which can be expressed in units of mass.

The slight difference in weight in Kozyrev's laboratory experiments cannot be compared with the powerful whirlwinds that the Gulf Stream spins. Their diameter can be hundreds of kilometers. Supporters of the Kozyrev hypothesis are sure that it is the water vortices that are the cause of the glowing or white circles and the white fog that eyewitnesses describe.

Space twists against the arrow of time - the course of time changes. The course of time changes - the weight of an aircraft or a sea vessel also changes. Maybe the instant change in weight is the cause of some disasters? There is a known case when an airliner approaching Miami checked the coordinates and time with the coastal control service, and then disappeared from the screens. When it appeared on the controllers' screen 10 minutes later, all the clocks on board the airliner were 10 minutes behind. Passengers did not notice anything but white fog.

When the vortices are twisted, both with the flow of time and against it, gravity may change. In the middle of the vortex, it is larger than at the edges.

Hypotheses of supporters of paleocontact modern science considered pseudoscientific.

Fans of the theory of paleocontact believe that aliens placed signal equipment at the bottom of the Sargasso Sea, which is powered by powerful source energy. It serves as a beacon for UFOs, is the cause of violations of navigation instruments and has a detrimental effect on the body of animals and humans.

Another hypothesis of ufologists is based on the assumption that there is a space-time trap in the BT. There is a story about the disappearance in BT in 1993 of a fishing boat with three fishermen. The fishermen appeared a year later. They said that during the storm they were rescued by a ship whose crew members spoke Old English and were dressed in clothes of an old cut. Those who were saved sincerely believed that only a few days had passed.

Ivan Sanderson, American researcher of unusual phenomena, in the early 70s. XX century engaged in compiling the first map of the destructive places of the entire Earth. In all these places, which Sanderson called "disastrous diamonds", similar anomalies were observed: strange loss of life, wrecks and disappearances of vehicles, mass discarding of cetaceans, suicides of antelopes throwing themselves into the sea, unexplained bird migrations.

In the late 70s of the 20th century, the researcher proposed the theory of "destructive whirlwinds" and identified 12 destructive rhombuses (6 are located in the northern, 6 in the southern hemispheres). 12 rhombuses are 72° apart in latitude and shifted in relation to their pair by 36° in longitude. All rhombuses are located on an exact sinusoidal straight line.

The compilation of a map of destructive diamonds led to another discovery - most of the dangerous areas are located where ancient advanced civilizations supposedly lived.

Dangerous anomalies in the Sargasso Sea area are being studied from satellites and space stations. Satellite images show that the water level in the Bermuda Triangle zone is 25 meters lower than the usual water level in the Atlantic Ocean.

natural or artificial cause mysterious phenomena in anomalous zones- thing scientific study, since only constant research can establish the truth and shed light on the cause of their occurrence. In the meantime, there is no clear understanding, all hypotheses, no matter how fantastic they may seem, must be taken into account.

Or Atlantis is a place where people disappear, ships and planes disappear, navigation instruments fail, and almost no one ever finds the wrecked. This hostile, mystical, sinister country for a person instills such great horror in the hearts of people that they often simply refuse to talk about it.

Bermuda Triangle: what is it

Few people knew about the existence of such a mysterious and amazing phenomenon called a hundred years ago.

Secrets of the Bermuda Triangle: the Gulf Stream version

The Gulf Stream crosses the Bermuda Triangle in the west, so the air temperature here is usually 10 ° C higher than in the rest of this mysterious anomaly. Because of this, in the places of collisions of atmospheric fronts of different temperatures, one can often see fog, which often strikes the mind of overly impressionable travelers.

Riddles of the Bermuda Triangle - other versions

Currents and whirlpools
In addition to the Gulf Stream, strong but irregular currents constantly arise in the Bermuda Triangle, the appearance or direction of which is almost never predictable. They are formed mainly under the influence of tidal and ebb waves in shallow water and their speed is as high as that of the Gulf Stream - and is about 10 km / h.

Sargasso Sea
In the east of the Bermuda Triangle, the Sargasso Sea is located - a sea without shores, surrounded on all sides instead of land by the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean - the Gulf Stream, the North Atlantic, the North Trade Wind and the Canary.

When in former times ships were brought here for some reason, they got entangled in dense sea plants and, falling into a whirlpool, albeit slowly, they were no longer able to get back. This is another option to decide.

The movement of air masses
Since this area lies in the trade winds, the Bermuda Triangle is constantly blown by extremely strong winds. Stormy days are not uncommon here (according to various meteorological services, there are about eighty stormy days here a year - that is, once every four days the weather here is terrible and disgusting.

Researchers are constantly bringing up interesting facts about the Bermuda Triangle.

As a result, unstable electric fields and magnetic disturbances arise that adversely affect the psychological state of a person, change instrument readings and neutralize radio communications.

Riddles of the Bermuda Triangle: hypotheses of the disappearance of ships

Riddles of the Bermuda Triangle never cease to interest the human mind.

Despite the fact that only miserable crumbs of information have come down to us from an ancient civilization, these crystals are still active and send signals from the depths of the ocean floor that cause interruptions in navigation instruments.

Another interesting theory is that the Bermuda Triangle contains portals leading to other dimensions (both in space and time).

The mystery of the Bermuda Triangle - is there one?

Is it disclosed Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle? Despite the excitement raised around the Bermuda Triangle, scientists argue that in reality this territory is no different, and a large number of accidents are mainly associated with difficult natural conditions for navigation (especially since the World Ocean contains many other, more dangerous for humans) places). And the fear that causes or the missing Atlantis - these are ordinary prejudices, constantly fueled by journalists and other lovers of sensationalism.

Legends about ships disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle have been around for a long time. Someone believes that aliens intervened, others - that the ships are being abducted by the inhabitants of Atlantis, others claim that the whole thing is in giant magnetic funnels. There are also quite scientific hypotheses.

If stick scientific justification The Bermuda Triangle is nothing paranormal. Everything has an explanation. Firstly, the triangle is credited with many crashes of planes and ships that occurred outside of it - nearby. Secondly, the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda Triangle does not occur more often than in other areas of the world's oceans, and many cases are due to natural causes. According to the legends, more than 100 ships and planes were reported as missing in this place, and more than 1,000 people were killed or missing. But the American Commission on geographical names does not at all recognize the Bermuda Triangle as a separate territory and therefore does not store any data related specifically to this area. The US Coast Guard also does not confirm these facts and figures and states that no supernatural number of disasters were noticed in the area of the triangle. According to Norman Hook, who did research for Lloyd's Maritime Information Agency in London, the Bermuda Triangle does not exist at all, and the vast majority of tragedies in this area were related to weather conditions. It is worth noting that the level of insurance for ships passing through the triangle is no higher than for any other segment of the ocean. In addition, with the advent of GPS navigation, ships have almost ceased to go missing.

Giant killer waves

Huge waves, to which a number of crashes are attributed, are most likely caused by the special bottom topography in the Bermuda Triangle. The underwater topography of the region affects the formation of waves: the continental shelf first gradually deepens, and then suddenly breaks off to a decent depth. There are generally many deep depressions in those places, which is probably why many sunken ships have not been found - they lie too deep. Water tornadoes are also not uncommon - in essence, they are just tornadoes that suck water into themselves and raise its column into the sky. Scientists noted that increased seismic activity is observed in the Bermuda Triangle region, and it is these minor underwater tremors that can create giant waves.

Anomalous magnetic field

One of the popular myths associated with the triangle is the time and magnetic funnel. Allegedly, in the Bermuda Triangle there is a special magnetic field that knocks down compasses and translates the clock hands. This mystical theory has a quite common physical explanation, however, has long been irrelevant. The fact is that the magnetized needle of any compass points to the constantly moving North magnetic pole, but the real, geographical North Pole is static and is about 1200 miles north of magnetic. The difference between the two poles is called magnetic declination and can vary up to 20 degrees at different points on the globe. The line of zero magnetic declination is an imaginary line where the magnetic and geographic poles converge. Thus, west of this line, the compass needle will point east of true north, and vice versa. But the line of zero declination is also shifting, and the speed of this shift differs in the Northern and southern hemisphere. All this, as you understand, significantly complicates navigation, sailors must always make adjustments when plotting a course. So, once the line of zero magnetic declination passed through the Bermuda Triangle, but now it has moved closer to the Gulf of Mexico, and if the courses go astray at some ships, then the ill-fated triangle today has nothing to do with it. In addition, today the cause of such an error is more likely a human factor, and in the past - ignorance of the features magnetic field Earth.

abnormal weather

In the area of the Bermuda Triangle, abrupt weather changes and unpredictable storms do often occur - often very short, and meteorological instruments do not have time to fix them. This is also explained quite simply. Just in the area where the triangle is located, the speed of the Gulf Stream often reaches 5 miles per hour, which makes navigation extremely difficult even for experienced sailors. The Gulf Stream is a fast, pulsating current that changes its speed and direction frequently and haphazardly. Because of this, vortices and funnels often appear in those places, and on the border of the Gulf Stream with other currents, where flows of warm and cold water, often foggy. A downdraft of cold air, for example, could have caused the sinking of the Pride of Baltimore in 1986. According to eyewitnesses, the wind suddenly increased from 32 km/h to 145 km/h. The US National Hurricane Center stated at the time that "during erratic weather conditions and in an area of low pressure where strong winds appear, a gust of downdraft of cold air can strike water comparable to a bomb." A similar thing happened when the Canadian barquentine Concordia sank in 2010 off the coast of Brazil.

Ominous Bubbles

Another reason for the flooding of ships in the area of the triangle could be deposits of crystalline methane. Ships sink instantly if methane hydrate rises from the seabed and forms a bubble, the density of which is minimal - thus, the ship loses its buoyancy. However, in order to sink a ship, the bubble must be larger or equal to length vessel - in this case, it will instantly go under water. Specialists from Cardiff University discovered large deposits of crystalline methane on the ocean floor in the area of the triangle - it was formed here mainly due to long-term decomposition of living organisms. Bill Dillon, a research geologist with the US Geological Survey, states that "on several occasions we have seen oil rigs go under water due to methane releases like this."
