The Quakers are the secret of all oceans. "Quakers" - unidentified floating objects UFO Quakers

Sometimes it seems that absolutely everything mysterious in the world can be found in a completely ordinary explanation, if only there was enough imagination. UFOs are some unexplored atmospheric phenomena. Mermaids are a people that existed in ancient times, whose representatives knew how to swim well and lived in coastal areas. A bigfoot is still found in general by almost all mountain tourists, perhaps he is one of them, only gone wild ... The so-called Quakers also belong to something of this kind - mysterious and calling for their riddles to be solved - the so-called Quakers - strange signals in the depths of the ocean, reminiscent of the croaking of a frog.

SUBMARINES ARE PERMITTED

In the 60s of the last century, sailors on our submarines, who received more advanced hydroacoustic equipment, met with incomprehensible phenomena. In some areas of the World Ocean, acoustics recorded unusual signals, like a frog croaking. But what kind of frogs can there be in the ocean? The signals were then called "Quakers".
Those who heard the “croaking” had a clear impression: the “something” sending these signals was acting quite consciously. It seemed that the source of signals, changing the tone and frequency of the sound, was moving around the underwater vessel. However, the radars failed to detect any significant object, although the sailors had a complete feeling that it was very close and freely crosses the course of the submarine. The captain, when they reported to him about the emergency, understandably, did not feel very confident, because in the sea everything incomprehensible is fraught with danger.
Here is the story of the former commander of the diesel submarine of the Northern Fleet: “We are leaving for the Norwegian Sea, and suddenly the acoustician hears that some objects surround us underwater, and they act very energetically: they actively maneuver vertically and horizontally, make mysterious sounds that we cannot classify . Sometimes it seems that an unknown enemy attacks us, then retreats without consequences. The entire crew is in shock. Upon returning to the base, we, the commanders, report on what happened. Now the command is in shock. Immediately the question is: what will science say? And science is silent, because it doesn’t understand a damn thing…”
In the end, the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral G.M. Yegorov ordered the creation of a special freelance group under the leadership of the chief of staff of the fleet. The group began to study strange signals. One of the participants in this work is A.G. Smolovsky later recalled: “The secrecy was terrible, and even we, the members of the group, were trying by hook or by crook not to be allowed access to logbooks. Almost immediately we learned that the Americans were dealing with the same problems. They first encountered the Quakers when they deployed their SOSUS hydroacoustic system in the North Atlantic - a complex of coastal stations and underwater hydrophones connected by hundreds of kilometers of underwater cable routes.
Rear Admiral O.G. Chefonov at one time also met with inexplicable underwater phenomena: “In the 60s, I commanded a nuclear missile boat ... Somehow we were returning home from the training ground. Visibility was complete. There are five or six of us on the bridge. The radiometrist indicates the bearing, but we see absolutely nothing! BIP (combat information post) leads the target. She is dangerously approaching ... They gave a stop. Searchlight, rockets, howler. A detected but invisible target enters our dead zone and ... disappears forever. Neither on the water, nor in the air - nothing ... Upon arrival at the base, I reported to the commander, who only waved it off: “Come on! Still these worries were not enough! If we report, there will be a lot of inspectors right now.” Then we discussed this case with other commanders. It turned out that many of us experienced something similar. But that's where it all ended."

WHAT IS IN THE DEEP SEA?

However, the moment came when the Quakers, coupled with NPOs (unidentified underwater objects), were seriously worried about our naval command. Then, by the decision of the Minister of Defense, Marshal A.A. Grechko, a special group of several officers was created at the intelligence department of the Navy.
Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy, Admiral S.G. Gorshkov said at one of the closed meetings: “The problem is extremely complex and new for us. and therefore for its solution of forces and means we will not spare. We will give both people and ships. The result is important!
So, according to the naval officer and writer Vlad Vilenov, the forces of the entire Navy began an unparalleled hunt for "ocean ghosts", ship commanders were no longer afraid to report unusual phenomena to their superiors. Information was collected and analyzed. Alas, perestroika broke out, the leadership of the Navy changed, and with it the priorities changed. Navy funding began to dry up, the study of the problems of NGOs and "Quakers" was postponed until better times. Soon the special group of the Navy intelligence department was also disbanded.
“I started dealing with the history of the Quakers more than 10 years ago,” writes Vlad Vilenov. - I talked a lot with submarine commanders, with those who listened to these mysterious “wahs”, found long-retired officers from the special group of the Navy’s intelligence department, specialists from the Naval Research Institute who dealt with problems of acoustics, and scientists from the Institute of Oceanology. I will say right away that I have not heard a single opinion on this issue. Opinions were very different, but they all agreed on one thing: “Quakers” are an objective reality, and this is a conscious impact on our underwater objects with some specific purpose.
Some experts believe that "Quakers" are unknown living creatures with a high level of intelligence. This version is held, first of all, by the employees of the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of the Seas of the Russian Academy of Sciences ...
In March 1966, American experts conducted tests on long-range underwater communications. An antenna a kilometer long was laid along the continental shelf. A ship was sent to the sea with locators lowered to the bottom. When the experiment started, something incomprehensible began to happen. The devices first received the signal itself, then something like its echo, and then some strange, as if encoded messages were heard. The experiment was repeated several times, with the same result. It was possible to roughly pinpoint the source of the signals. It turned out that he was at a depth of 8 kilometers (!) In one of the little-studied areas of the Atlantic Ocean. However, the researchers did not advance further, and the experiment had to be stopped.

"TRAIN", "WHISTLE", "BRAKING", "HOIL" ...

Unknown signals continue to worry sailors and scientists around the world. Low-frequency sounds, similar to the echoes of some kind of technology, are caught on long waves that propagate over vast distances. The pulses are detected by sensors located in different parts of the globe. If the signals are recorded on a tape recorder and played at increased speed, they can be perceived by the human ear. These sounds are different type, reminiscent of not only croaking. The researchers even gave them special names: "train", "whistle", "braking", "howl". “Take at least “braking,” says American professor Christopher Fox, a leading specialist in the field of ocean acoustic signals. - This sound, similar to that of an airplane landing, was first heard in 1997 in pacific ocean. Now "braking" has moved to the Atlantic. The source is located far from the hydrophones, and we cannot detect it.”
A frequency-modulated and apparently sentient signal called "upward" sounded constantly in the ocean from 1991 to 1994. Then suddenly he disappeared. A few years later, it reappeared, noticeably intensified and became more diverse. It is still not possible to determine exactly where the sources of these signals are located, so scientists still have a lot of exciting work to do.
And recently, Professor Fox pointedly noted: “The depths of the oceans are so unexplored that anything can be hidden there, even ... aliens. Mysterious underwater inhabitants are not yet visible, but already well heard.

The depths of the oceans hold many secrets, one of them is the Quakers, mysterious creatures chasing submarines and emitting acoustic signals resembling the croaking of a frog. Despite the attempts of the military and scientists to establish who "croaks" on our submarines, neither the origin of these creatures nor their appearance is still known.

Strange sounds in the ocean depths

For the first time, Soviet submariners encountered Quakers in the early 1950s, when submarines appeared with a more advanced acoustic system (series 611 and 613), capable of capturing sounds previously inaccessible to previous submarines.

The acquisition of improved “hearing” brought a lot of anxiety to the submariners, because they learned that sources of strange sounds often appear near their submarines. In some areas of the oceans, submarines were surrounded by some mysterious creatures that made sounds reminiscent of the croaking of a frog; sailors called them Quakers.

The constantly changing bearing clearly indicated that the Quakers were circling around the submarines, crossing their course, while changing the tone and frequency of the signals emitted. It seemed that they were purposefully trying to get in touch with the boat, "talking" to it in their incomprehensible croaking language. They did not present any problems for the movement of the submarine;

one instance where the Quakers would have provoked an emergency or taken some aggressive action. However, no doubt they are. created a certain nervousness among the crew, especially the commander of the boat.

Later it turned out that the Quakers became known during the Second World War. The Americans and the British then had quite sensitive hydroacoustic equipment, which neither the USSR nor the USSR had. So, in the Atlantic, their submarines recorded a strange “croaking”, which even caused a certain panic among the allies, they suggested that the Nazis would have a new secret weapon. Data on mysterious sounds from the depths were classified just in case, and since they, as it turned out, did not carry any threat, they were not remembered until the end of the war.

Mini-subs or living creatures?

Although Soviet submariners were not very eager to report to their superiors about the various anomalous phenomena they witnessed, they could not fail to report on the Quakers. During the Cold War, there was a logical suggestion that the Quakers might be part of a large-scale American tracking system designed to detect Soviet submarines. Our submarines stumbled upon Quakers more and more often, mysterious "croaking" objects began to be found from the North Atlantic to the Barents Sea. The concern of the command was the fact that often after a meeting of a submarine with Quakers, American anti-submarine ships appeared in the same area.

At first, there was an assumption that these were some kind of stationary objects, but it was quickly discarded, because the Quakers actively pursued submarines, were quite mobile and could quickly change their course.

It is unlikely that the Quakers were also miniature robotic submarines; despite the financial possibilities, such a "luxury" and the Pentagon could not afford. Many were inclined to believe that Quakers are living beings. Ultimately, to unravel the mystery of the Quakers, a special group was created at the Soviet Navy, which included the military and scientists. Members of this group traveled around the fleets, collecting any facts that had even the slightest relation to Quakers and others. anomalous phenomena in the oceans.

A number of special ocean expeditions were also organized. It so happened that one of them on the Khariton Laptev ship in 1970 saved most of the crew from our nuclear submarine K-8, which was dying in the North Atlantic. By the way, "Khariton Laptev" was engaged in listening and recording noises in the ocean depths. It is still not known exactly what was found out about the Quakers over more than ten years of research and information gathering, but in the early 80s the Quaker program was closed, and all its materials and developments were classified.

Submarines are 'looked after' by prehistoric whales

What other hypotheses have been advanced to explain the Quaker phenomenon? Quakers are known to have been active in certain areas; as soon as the submarine passed such an area, the Quakers, “croaking” in parting, lagged behind her. There was an assumption about some underwater bases of aliens who were "guarded" by the Quakers. Like a flock of birds approached by a stranger, they swooped down on our submarines and "clamored" until they left the "nesting" area. This hypothesis did not become popular and practically did not find adherents.

Those who have been able to communicate with former participants of the Quaker program write that, according to many researchers of this phenomenon, Quakers are living beings, even unknown to science, and possessing a fairly developed intellect.

This opinion, for example, is shared by employees of the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of the Seas of the Academy of Sciences, who were involved in the study of Quakers during the Soviet era.

It has been suggested that giant squid-architeurs can act as Quakers, the real existence of which is confirmed by the dead carcasses of these monsters thrown ashore by the waves. Sperm whales are natural enemies of architeurs, they may well mistake submarines for them. However, this version is refuted by the behavior of the Quakers, they are not afraid of submarines, do not try to attack them, but rather, on the contrary, demonstrate friendliness.

Perhaps the version about prehistoric cetacean basilosaurs, which probably had the same sound transmission organs as modern whales, looks more reliable. Perhaps, in some areas of the World Ocean, separate populations of these prehistoric animals have survived, some cryptozoologists make such an assumption. Basilosaurus is an ancient giant whale, reaching a length of 21 inches, which lived 36 million years ago and inhabited all the warm seas of the planet. Such animals, if they have survived to this day, can take submarines for their relatives. This may explain their obvious interest in submarines and their friendliness. By the way, basilosaurs had rudimentary hind limbs.

Another contender for the role of the Quaker is the Zeiglodon, which is also a prehistoric variety of the ancient whale. Like the Basilosaurus, it bore little resemblance to the modern whale, having a narrow head and a long, narrow body. Many cryptozoologists speculate. that for the so-called sea serpent, which was repeatedly observed in the Atlantic, eyewitnesses took Zeiglodon or Basilosaurus. Thus, Quakers could very well be living beings: both prehistoric monsters that have survived to this day, and inhabitants of the deep, still unknown to scientists.

Secret military research

According to the researchers, a curious pattern was noticed: NATO anti-submarine forces regularly cruised in areas where the sea serpent was most often observed. From this it was concluded that the American sailors are also largely interested in giant underwater monsters. According to a media report from the early 1990s, the US Navy is taking the time to search for the mysterious inhabitants of the deep, whose signals have been repeatedly recorded by American submarines, surface ships and various tracking systems.

The Americans became particularly interested in the Quakers after they deployed the SOSUS sonar system in the North Atlantic, designed to detect Soviet submarines. The most prominent specialists in the field of acoustics were sent to study the Quakers in the USA. Over time, the study of the Quakers was taken up in Germany, and. The Americans tried to decipher various mysterious signals recorded in the depths of the ocean using the most powerful Pentagon computers. Perhaps this attempt gave some results, because after it the activity of US military oceanologists in some areas of the Atlantic increased markedly.

Undoubtedly, our military and civilian specialists, over the years of researching the Quaker phenomenon, have achieved some results and come to certain conclusions. Captain 1st rank A. G. Smolovsky, who participated in the study of Quakers and became one of the most famous specialists in the USSR in this field, said in an interview: “It is too early to talk about the main conclusions of our many years of work, since this is the area of state and military secrets. However, I can say that Quakers are a very difficult phenomenon, behind which lie perhaps the most secret secrets of the ocean.

The secret of the mysterious Quakers, about which the Russia 1 channel loves to scare the audience so much, has apparently been revealed. Strange croaking sounds were first described by submarine crews operating in southern latitudes about fifty years ago. Later, the sounds were repeatedly recorded in the southern parts of the Indian Ocean. Divers noticed that the frequency of sounds is usually 50-300 Hz, the number of individual sounds in the series changed, but the interval between them remained unchanged - 3.1 seconds.

The phenomenon became even more mysterious when scientists realized that the sounds that the West began to call bio-duck appear simultaneously in the east of the Weddell Sea (Antarctica) and west of the Australian coast.

“At first, no one could figure out what it was,” says Denis Rish of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Since the sounds were repetitive, at first they were mistaken for the sounds of the submarines themselves, later scientists tended to the version of their animal origin.

mysterious sounds are made by certain whales - southern minke whales.

These whales reach a length of 10 m, weigh up to 9 tons and live in all the oceans of the Southern Hemisphere. In February 2013, when it was summer in the southern hemisphere, scientists attached special sensors to the body of two minke whales (Balaenoptera bonaerensis) designed to study the behavior and movement of whales. The experiment was carried out in Wilhelmina Bay off the coast of Antarctica. The sensors were equipped with sensitive hydrophones operating in a wide frequency range.

After analyzing the recorded sounds, the scientists identified them with those previously recorded by marine biologists and submarine crews. "From now on, sounds can be definitely attributed to minke whales," Rish writes in his study. However, biologists don't know if the sounds were produced by sensor whales or other individuals nearby and what exactly they meant.

Perhaps, they reason, whales use sounds to feed or navigate.

Scientists have also not been able to determine whether these sounds are made by males or females, although science knows that, for example, male humpback whales sing complex songs during the courtship period. The fact that minke whales can be heard off Antarctica and Australia at the same time indicates that some of the whales sometimes remain along the Antarctic coast all year round, while other whales migrate to lower latitudes.

What is known for sure is that whales make these sounds when they are near the surface before a long dive.

Now, having discovered who the enigmatic Quakers really are, biologists have a new method of estimating the population and migration of minke whales. By investigating sounds with buoys, biologists will be able to study whales even in winter, when weather conditions prevent scientific vessels from operating. “By identifying the origin of these sounds, we can use passive acoustic monitoring to study these species,” said Rish.

“This can give us clues to the timing of their migration — to tell us exactly when the animals appear in and leave Antarctic waters,” she added.

Those who go to sea in ships, doing business on high waters, See the works of the Lord and His wonders in the abyss ...

(Psalter. Psalm 106. Verse 23)

Since the 60s of the XX century, sailors have encountered a completely inexplicable phenomenon that causes, if not fear, then at least complete bewilderment. At first, talk about unusual meetings in the depths of the ocean took place mostly in smoking rooms and during officer feasts, while the authorities did not notice what was happening (rather, they simply tried not to notice). New and incomprehensible always causes mistrust and fear. But the conversations kept multiplying and multiplying, and finally the moment came when it became simply impossible to remain silent about what was happening ...

Friends from the abyss

So what did the submariners who returned from long trips talk about, what did they make hasty entries in the watch logs, what did they report on returning to the base?

And the thing was that in certain areas of the World Ocean at great depths, our nuclear-powered submarines began to encounter incomprehensible objects more and more often.

These meetings, as a rule, began with the fact that hydroacoustics suddenly began to hear very strange signals, somewhat reminiscent of the croaking of frogs. It was for this croaking that unknown objects received the nickname "Quakers" from the naval wits. Subsequently, they began to be called so in official documents.

However, some information about unusual phenomena in the ocean was available before. Prominent domestic shipbuilder and mathematician Academician A.N. Krylov very accurately described them as "ghosts of the ocean."

Even before the Great Patriotic War, the first hydroacoustic station in the USSR was created in Sukhumi on the basis of the Institute of Acoustics named after N.N. Andreev, headed by the famous scientist, future academician A.M. Brekhovskikh, the author of the famous monograph "Acoustics of the Ocean". Installed on a sandy spit, hydroacoustic equipment controlled the entire trunk of the Black Sea up to Romania. It was on this basis that the theory of ultra-long-range propagation of hydroacoustic waves in the low range from a few hertz was developed, and then tested in practice. As it turned out later, the Americans and the British faced the "Quakers" during the Second World War. During the famous Battle of the Atlantic, having more advanced hydroacoustic equipment than the Germans, they began to hear inexplicable sounds in the ocean. At first they had a real panic: they thought that the Germans had some new weapon. Passions gradually subsided, all the data was classified, and the solution of the problem was postponed until the post-war period.

In the USSR, the "Quakers" were faced with the appearance of submarines of the 611th and 613th projects, which had more advanced hydroacoustic equipment compared to their predecessors.

Says the former commander of the diesel submarine of the Northern Fleet:

“We go out into the Norwegian Sea, and suddenly the acoustician hears that some enemies surround us underwater, and these enemies act very energetically: they actively maneuver around vertically and horizontally, their sounds are unknown to us, and we cannot classify them. Sometimes it seems that an unknown enemy goes on the attack, then the sounds break up. Everyone is in shock. Upon returning to the base, we, the commanders, report on what happened. Now the command is in shock. Immediately the question is: what will science say? And science is silent, because it doesn’t understand a damn thing…”

What was unusual about the Quakers? How many other noises are heard by acoustics in the thickness of the ocean depths. But the "Quakers" were very different from all other noises. Those who heard them always had a strong impression of completely conscious actions from unknown sources of sound. It seemed that the "Quakers", appearing from nowhere, were persistently trying to establish contact with our submarines. Judging by the continuously changing bearing, they were circling around the submarines, but by changing the tone and frequency of the signals, they seemed to provoke the submariners into a kind of dialogue, reacting especially actively to hydroacoustic messages from the boats. After talking for a while in this way, the "Quakers" disappeared for a long time, only to reappear later. So, escorting our submarines, they followed next to them until they left some area and, croaking in last time, disappeared without a trace. At the same time, there was never any aggressiveness on the part of the Quakers, as well as other negative consequences for our submarines. Moreover, the impression was created that the "Quakers" even deliberately demonstrate their peacefulness. However, the commanders, not without reason, feared unknown underwater objects. Still, what should the submarine commander feel when the acoustician suddenly reports that, judging by the changing bearing, the “Quaker” who has appeared from nowhere crosses the course of a submarine rushing through the ocean! As soon as the boat turned aside, the tireless pursuer again rushed to cross the course. And although for all the many years there was not a single collision with the Quakers, the commanders, and even the crews of the submarines, constantly had to be in suspense. Something had to be done, but what?

Incomprehensible cases occurred not only with submarines, but also with surface ships. So, the captain of the hydrographic vessel "Vladimir Vorobyov", upon returning home, reported that during oceanographic research in the Arabian Sea in the interests of the Navy, his team suddenly noticed that a bright white spot was rotating counterclockwise around the vessel within a radius of 150-200 meters, breaking up into eight parts. The echo sounder recorded the depth of the place - 170 meters, at the same time showing the presence of a certain mass under the keel at a depth of about 20 meters.

When the issue with the "Quakers" became completely intolerable in the Northern Fleet, the then commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral GM Yegorov, ordered the creation of a freelance special group under the leadership of the chief of staff of the fleet. The group included: the chief of the operational department and the combat service department; from the intelligence of the fleet - the head of the analytical department Anatoly Grigoryevich Smolovsky.

Subsequently, the captain of the 1st rank A.G. Smolovsky became one of the most famous specialists in the field of "Quakers" in the USSR, devoting a number of serious works to them. scientific works.

Tells A.G. Smolovsky:

“In the group created at the Federation Council, I collected and analyzed statistics. The secrecy was terrible, and even we, the members of the group, were tried by hook or by crook not to be allowed to see the logbooks. Almost immediately we learned that the Americans were dealing with the same problems. They came into close contact with the Quakers when they deployed their SOSUS hydroacoustic system in the North Atlantic - a complex of coastal sonar stations and underwater hydrophones connected by hundreds of kilometers of underwater cable routes. Among the Americans, Quakers were taught by such outstanding specialists in the field of acoustics as Professors Clay and Tolstoy (a descendant of Russian emigrants). From the end of the 70s of the XX century, France (hydroacoustic research center in Cherbourg), Italy (center in Laspezia), Germany (center in Bergen) began to take an active interest in the "Quakers". AT last years the problem of "Quakers" began to be explored in China and India.

When the bacchanalia with the "Quakers" began, Admiral Yegorov invited the famous academician Brekhovsky to the Northern Fleet. “We will not hide anything from you, but give an explanation for what is happening,” asked Academician Yegorov. The commander of the fleet was a very influential person, since he was also a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Therefore, the Institute of Hydroacoustics immediately got involved in the work and helped us a lot. The work was, frankly, not easy, conflicts often arose. There was a misunderstanding due to the extreme secrecy of the issue under study, which greatly interfered with the case. It just so happened that I continued to work on the subject of "Quakers" for many years until my retirement. It is still too early to talk about the main conclusions of our many years of work, since this is the area of state and military secrets. However, I can say that the “Quakers” are a very difficult phenomenon, behind which lie perhaps the most secret secrets of the ocean.

By the end of the 60s of the XX century, the problem of "Quakers" began to worry not only the commander of the Northern Fleet, but also the then Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Soviet Union S.G. Gorshkov. Of course, the commander-in-chief was least of all interested in stories about a sea serpent. He was concerned about something else: were the latest anti-submarine developments of the US Navy behind the Quakers and was something else hiding in the ocean abyss that had unique scientific achievements and cutting edge technology?

Soviet sailors against NGOs

As you know, the 60s were marked by a lot of noise in connection with UFOs, or rather, even with NGOs - unidentified underwater objects. This cup has not passed and the domestic Navy. UFOs have also reached our nuclear submarines.

Recalls rear admiral of the reserve O.G. Chefonov:

“At that time I commanded a nuclear missile boat. We returned to the base somewhere abeam Nakhodka. Went on the surface. Fog, zero visibility. The radar station is in operation. Suddenly, a target appears on the radar screen and quickly crosses our course. GKP BIP begins to define the elements of its movement. The speed is great. The mark is clear. It is clear that this is not a hindrance. I step up to get through. The goal is too. It's dangerous to risk, I decide to stop the move and skip it. In addition, they began to give all possible signals: they launched rockets, turned on the howler, lit the stern fire and the searchlight. I listen to the reports: “The distance is five cables, four ... three ... two ... one ...” All those on the bridge stare painfully at where the unknown target should appear from. The acoustician almost shouts: “0.5 cables! The target has entered the dead zone!“ We have everything lit, we are buzzing. The tension is terrible. Everything is on the edge. A minute passes like an eternity, followed by another, a third ... Now the target will appear from the other side. We waited a quarter of an hour, but the target did not appear. They took a breath and at the very least went to the base. The second similar case happened to me about a year later. We were returning home from the range. This time the visibility was complete. Again, clear illumination on the radar. There are five or six of us on the bridge. With all eyes, we look at the bearing indicated by the radiometrist. But we see absolutely nothing! BIP leads the target. She gets dangerously close. After the incident near Nakhodka, I am experienced, I order everything to be recorded in the logbook. “There is a target on the radar. The BIP determined the EDC. There is a risk of collision. To avoid a collision, I perform all actions in accordance with COLREGs. They gave a stop. Again a searchlight, rockets, howler. The detected but invisible target re-enters our dead zone and disappears forever. Nothing on the water, nothing in the air... Upon arrival, I reported to the commander, who only waved it off: “Come on! Still these worries were not enough! If we report, there will be a lot of inspectors right away! “Then we discussed this case with other commanders. It turned out that many of them had something similar. That's where it all ended."

One of the oldest submariners of the Pacific Fleet, retired Rear Admiral A.T. Pins:

“About 40 years ago, I was the commander of a Project 613-B diesel submarine based in Maly Uliss Bay. The layman, apparently, guesses that this is in the Vladivostok region. Once I went to Peter the Great Bay to “work” with a nuclear submarine in a duel situation. There was a strong storm, I plunged into the depths of the sea and began to guard the “adversary”. But the nuclear boat did not come. I waited for the polygon time, surfaced under the periscope, gave a report and received an order to proceed to the base. And the sea ... was calm, which happens at this time of the year (August) extremely rarely. Mirror surface, complete calm, not a cloud in the sky. And the submarine entrusted to me slowly puffed into the base, laying down on the north course towards Cape Povorotny. There was absolutely no hurry. On the bridge it's a complete mess. I am on the regular right wing of the bridge; on the left - a watch officer, behind and a little higher - a signalman. You are allowed to smoke cigarettes...

A sudden request from the chart room: “Bridge! I ask permission to raise the radar antenna and determine along the coast.

This is a navigator's request. Meanwhile, the bluish spurs of the Sikhote-Alin mountains were clearly visible in a light haze.

The shore is already visible, - I teased the navigator.

But I am also supposed to be determined by technical means, according to the rules of the navigation service, - the pedant-navigator began to get angry.

Well, since it’s supposed to be, decide, - I cheered.

Raised antenna radar "Albatross" and began to rotate on the horizon.

Bridge! Right on course - the coast, the distance is 38 miles (this is on a 40-mile scale).

And suddenly - incomprehensible:

Bridge! The average sea target on the right is 10, the distance is 38 cables!

At such a distance, and even with a calm sea and full visibility, any surface target is visible without any binoculars. Meanwhile… the horizon was empty.

“Some kind of devilry,” I thought, and, following the old commanding habit, went downstairs to the radar room. Indeed, here it is, a clear target illumination. And the distance decreases due to the course of the boat. It turns out that the target is stationary. And there were no goals on the horizon.

Bridge! - obstinate radiometrists. - Average sea target, distance 30 ... 25 ... 15 cables.

And the surface of the sea was pristine.

“Damn it, she-she,” I thought again and ordered all the free officers with binoculars to be called to the bridge. On the subject of the fact that I myself almost "didn't go crazy." But on the horizon ... there were no goals!

Bridge! the radiometers persisted. - Medium surface target, distance 10, distance - 5 cable. The target enters the dead zone (meaning the distance is too short).

Stop diesel! - And on the inertia of low speed we slide to the mysterious goal.

Acoustics! Listen to the horizon! Listen to noises!

No noise! - hearers reported cheerfully. - The horizon is clear!

Acoustics! I command. - Turn on the sonar. Explore the horizon on a small scale!

And the boat was slowly approaching an incomprehensible target on the inertia of the course and finally stopped ...

There are no noises. The target is immobile!

Classify the target! I order.

The tone of the echo is deaf, like from a wooden barrel, the distance is one cable. There are no noises.

I went down to the acoustic cabin. Really! What's the purpose? If this is a mini-boat with a depth stabilizer, then why is there no internal noise from the mechanisms? And they are not. If the barrel is submerged, then it cannot “hang” at a depth, it must rise up or go to the depths. Maybe some kind of sperm whale, or a whale, or a tight school of fish? Again - the fish are too talkative people, and acoustics would recognize this, and this is a musical people. And yet - why clear cut edges? And again - what does radar have to do with it?

Meanwhile, an immovable target was under the side, and the officers hung over the side. They even examined the sky: no “green rays” for you, and in general - nothing! And the sky is clear, like a baby fish. It turns out: the eyes do not "take" anything, but the devices fix it. True obsession. In the end, I spat with annoyance and ordered to continue on. Diesel started.

Bridge! The target is right aft! Distance 5 cables, increasing.

It is clear that the target appeared on the radar screen when it left the dead zone. Having released the target at a distance of 20 cables, I could not stand it, described the "coordinate" (maneuver of exit to the former place of the ship. - V.V.) and approached the incomprehensible target from the other side. Everything happened again.

The officers looked at the sky, is there any "green beam" or " evil spirits' hovering in the sky. But the sky was pristine, like an old virgin's skirt. In the end, I ordered to remove all instrument records and maneuvering tracing paper - for the authorities. That's where it all ended."

Indeed, at first such messages were stubbornly brushed aside. But there is a limit to everything, and the moment has come when the Quakers, together with NGOs, have seriously worried the command of the Navy. Then, by the decision of the Minister of Defense, Marshal A. A. Grechko, a special group of several officers was created under the intelligence board of the Navy. The task before her was set very, very difficult: the study, systematization and analysis of all inexplicable phenomena occurring in the oceans and which could pose a danger to our ships. With his characteristic thoroughness, the Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy S.G. Gorshkov said: “The problem is extremely complex and new for us, and therefore we will not spare any effort and means to solve it. We will give both people and ships. The result matters!

The newly formed group set to work together. There were more than enough difficulties, because no one else had experience of such work. Officers continuously traveled around the fleets, collecting bit by bit everything that was in any way related to their problem. The Commander-in-Chief ordered to organize a whole series of ocean expeditions. One of them - the expedition of the reconnaissance ship "Khariton Laptev" in April 1970 - coincided in time with the death of our nuclear submarine K-8 in the North Atlantic. Interrupting listening and recording the noise of the ocean, Laptev rushed to the dying nuclear-powered ship and managed to save most of its crew ...

Despite the dislike of the commanders of ships and submarines of the Soviet Navy to reports of anomalous phenomena, which, to put it mildly, were not encouraged by higher authorities, from time to time our sailors encountered such incredible objects and phenomena in the ocean that it was simply impossible not to report them to the top. .

Recalls the developer of the instructions for the Navy on fixing UFOs and NGOs, retired Captain 1st Rank V.G. Azhazha: “On September 20, 1977, a high-speed nuclear submarine of project 705 was on the surface. She was returning from factory tests in Severodvinsk. The watch officer drew attention to the star moving quickly across the sky. She moved from the northeast to the southwest, i.e. from the Arctic in the direction of Petrozavodsk and Leningrad. The asterisk lengthened, turning into a long luminous segment. It seemed to the watchman that a cylinder was passing over him, at one end of which the symmetry was suddenly broken and individual pieces resembling small peas began to fly out of the cylinder. Estimate linear or angular dimensions it was difficult. Only the enormous height at which the UFO followed was felt. Peas did not move after, but scattered in different directions. A description of an incomprehensible phenomenon appeared in the logbook of the submarine. About an hour later, the well-known epic of the appearance of a UFO over Petrozavodsk began, as reported by TASS. And three days later the news of this hit the pages of some central newspapers. However, the First Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Admiral of the Fleet N.I. Smirnov was in no hurry to put the instruction I had composed into action. I considered the possible course of his thoughts: “Won’t others say that Smirnov“ went crazy? ”And then, what kind of scientific baggage does V.G. Azhazhi to trust him in such a difficult matter? Well, let's say he was in charge of the Severyanka research submarine. So what? After all, this is not a UFO, but, as they say in Odessa, two big differences. And yet, on October 7, circumstances forced N.I. Smirnov to invite me for a personal acquaintance and conversation. And the conversation was mostly one-sided. The operational duty officer of the Northern Fleet repeated his report over the selector, i.e., loud-speaking, communication for the umpteenth time.

At dawn on October 7, 1977, the floating base of the Volga submarines was in the Barents Sea. Suddenly, its commander, captain of the 3rd rank, Tarankin, was urgently invited to the BIP. The mark on the radar screen showed that an air target was approaching the floating base from a distance of about 100 kilometers. While the personnel were on alert, radiometrists identified the target. By the strength of the reflection and the nature of the signal, it turned out that a group of helicopters was approaching the Volga. Where?

The remoteness of the floating base from the coast ruled out the appearance of airfield-based helicopters, and according to intelligence, there should not be either domestic or foreign helicopter carriers in the Barents Sea. The commander and other observers gradually became convinced that these were not aircraft familiar to the eye, but strange shining disks, which, descending to the level of the masts, made a real round dance around the Volga.

For 18 minutes, on the orders of Tarankin, radio operators tried to contact the main base of the Northern Fleet, Severomorsk. But the radio was neither receiving nor transmitting. The ship's radio broadcast was working, and Tarankin gave an extraordinary command: “To all personnel. Remember, sketch, photograph, so that when we return to the base, no one will say that your commander is crazy.” At the 19th minute, the UFOs freed the space above the floating base from their presence, radio communication was restored, a radiogram flew. An hour later, a reconnaissance aircraft appeared, but there was nothing to reconnoiter. At the end of the conversation, N.I. Smirnov called the Deputy Chief of the Main Staff of the Navy P.N. Navoytsev and ordered to send a directive to the ships, ordering the implementation of the "Instructions for observing UFOs" in the fleets and flotillas. And to do this in two stages: first on hydrographic, research and reconnaissance ships, and then on the rest of the ships. Signed by Navoytsev, the directive went to the addressees on the evening of October 7, 1977, and the instruction I developed under the title " Guidelines organization in the Navy of observations of anomalous physical phenomena and their impact on environment, living organisms and technical means" began a new stage of its existence, which is called "implementation". It's nice that this document was distributed in the Northern Fleet signed by my friend Rear Admiral Mars Iskanderov. It is not surprising that the Guidelines formed the basis for similar guidelines issued by the USSR State Committee for Hydrometeorology in 1979. And on January 16, 1979, I handed over the text of the naval instructions from hand to hand to the assistant commander-in-chief of the Air Force for the training of cosmonauts, pilot-cosmonaut General V.A. Shatalov. It should be mentioned that UFOs were seen not only in the sky, but also in the depths of the sea, although, obviously, objects there are no longer flying, but floating.

From the story of Academician E.F. Shnyukov (Institute of the South Seas of the USSR Academy of Sciences) about one of the voyages in the Black Sea of the research vessel "Mikhail Lomonosov":

“At a depth of 1400-1800 meters, a mysterious elliptical body measuring 2 by 3 kilometers was discovered - an unidentified underwater object (UNO). On the echograms, it was imprinted in the form of a dense cloud up to 270 meters thick, but the analysis of water samples within it did not show any hydrochemical anomalies. Nevertheless, the devices that protect the barometers from hitting the ground invariably worked at the entrance to the NGO.”

At the same time, the sailors of the motor ship of the Black Sea Shipping Company “Anton Makarenko” saw a luminous wheel in the Strait of Malacca at night. Separate light spots suddenly turned into stripes 10–15 meters wide, radially diverging from the vessel. But soon their ends bent in one direction, forming a wheel, which began to rotate faster and faster counterclockwise. Then the light show disappeared.

Soon, the command of the USSR Navy decided to start researching the problem of NGOs in the interests of the Navy. To start this work, relevant documents were prepared.

“Extract from the minutes of the meeting of the underwater research section of the Oceanographic Commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences dated November 17, 1976. Present: section chairman P.A. Borovikov, Deputy Chairman of the Oceanographic Commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences E.M. Kukharkov, Scientific Secretary of the Oceanographic Commission V.A. Shirey, members of the bureau of the section - 28 people. Agenda: The underwater aspect of the problem of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects). Speaker - deputy chairman of the section V.G. Azhazha. Listened to: report by V.G. Ajazhi. Decided: to accept the report of V.G. Take note. Include in the work plan of the section the collection of information on the manifestation of UFOs over sea areas and at depths in the Earth's hydrosphere and its subsequent analysis. Signatures: Chairman P.A. Borovikov. Secretary YES. Aksenov. Seal: Oceanographic Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Letter on the letterhead of the General Staff Navy USSR dated January 20, 1978 No. 739/105. “Deputy Chairman of the Oceanographic Commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The main headquarters of the Navy received developed under the leadership of the candidate technical sciences comrade Azhazha V.G. "Draft instructions for UFO sightings". This project was used in the organization of observation of UFO ships and ships of the Navy. Given the relevance and importance of the scientific and technical solution of this problem, I express my gratitude for the assistance provided and hope for further cooperation in this matter. Deputy Chief of the Main Staff of the Navy Vice Admiral Yu.V. Ivanov.

Recalls the captain of the 1st rank, retired V.G. Azhazha:

“It's nice that the military sailors were ahead in such an extravagant story as a UFO. Why not? Navy intelligence chief Yu.V. Ivanov had several reasons to ask me to develop a method for observing UFOs at sea. The first - when I arrived as a lieutenant to serve in the submarine division of the Northern Fleet, I was received by the submarine commander on duty, Captain 2nd Rank Yu.V. Ivanov. That is, Yuri Vasilievich knew me for almost 30 years, and not by hearsay. Second reason. By the end of the 70s, the dossier of the intelligence department of the USSR Navy accumulated a lot of reports from fleets and flotillas, as well as foreign data on UFO sightings. The puzzle was that all these flying incomprehensibility could unknowingly be mistaken for reconnaissance or strike weapons of a potential enemy.

What are, for example, the reports of the head of intelligence of the Pacific Fleet, Rear Admiral V.A. Domyslovsky. It's about about repeated observations of a giant cylinder hovering over the surface of the ocean. From one end, like bees from a hive, small UFOs flew out, dived into the water, after a while they flew out from under the water and returned to the cylinder-hive. After several such cycles, the UFOs were loaded into the cylinder, and it went beyond the horizon. Third reason. It so happened that during one of my visits to the Ivanov farm, the admiral received a report from three captains of the 1st rank - Korolev, Kryazhukov and Gusev. On a December morning in 1976, they were driving along the Kaluga highway to Moscow and noticed that the sun was rising right along their course, that is, in the north. From the side of the sun there was a clear violation of the laws of the universe, according to which it must rise in the east. Experienced officers, battered, drove on, waiting for events to turn. In the village of Sosenki, a UFO, mistaken for the sun, was already on the right, hovering over a bus stop. The officers cut their way. A regiment of observers arrived. And the object turned from bright sunny to matte and showed something like a horizontal belt. Someone even made out the details - a chain of portholes located along the equator. After about five minutes, the object began to rise, picking up speed, and suddenly disappeared. This incident turned out to be a drop that overflowed the patience of the chief of intelligence. Moreover, at hand was his own, from the naval, ufologist. Ajaj's draft instructions were prepared by July 1977.

The task of dealing with the problem of NGOs was entrusted to the same special group of the Navy intelligence department, which had already dealt with the "Quakers". In conversations with me, veterans of the group said that they were not too pleased with the new directive, since the staff of the group was not increased, and the workload immediately increased. - for some other reason, but the group's specialists immediately began to believe that NGOs and "Quakers" are phenomena of the same order and should be studied as a whole. Whether this was a mistake is difficult to say, but at least this assumption allowed the officers of the special group to engage in NGOs without stopping their main work with the Quakers.

In December 1976, the research work "The Hydrospheric Aspect of the UFO Problem" was approved. The customer was the Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Navy. And already on July 15, 1977, the “Guidelines for organizing UFO observations in the Navy” were transferred to the customer of the 1st stage of research and development. On October 7, 1977, by the directive of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral P. Navoytsev, the “Methodological Instructions” were approved for practical use by commanders of ships and submarines of the USSR Navy.

Thus began an unparalleled hunt for ocean ghosts by the entire vast Soviet Navy. Ship commanders have ceased to be afraid to report unusual phenomena. All incoming information was analyzed and accumulated. Alas, perestroika broke out, the leadership of the Navy changed, and with it the priorities changed. Financing of the Navy with the advent of the heralds of the "new thinking" was immediately cut, the study of the problems of NGOs and "Quakers" was postponed, as at first they thought, for later, but it turned out forever ... Soon the special group of the Intelligence Directorate of the Navy was disbanded.

In pursuit of the underwater ghosts of the US Navy

Of course, not only our sailors met with inexplicable phenomena and unidentified objects. It is difficult to reproach the well-known scientist and traveler Thor Heyerdahl, who described such an encounter while sailing on the Kon-Tiki raft across the Pacific Ocean, with deceit. Note that this Heyerdahl expedition was fully funded by the US CIA and Heyerdahl submitted all reports on the voyage to this agency. And yet the traveler could not resist not to convey to the world community the truth about the ocean. In his book Kon-Tiki, he writes:

“Several times we sailed past a huge dark mass half a room in size, which stood motionless near the surface like a reef hidden by water. But it wasn't a reef. It was probably a gigantic stingray... Once the officer on duty discerned a pale shimmering mass in the depths... now it seemed round, now oval, now triangular... Suddenly it split into two parts, which independently approached and sailed away from each other under our raft, and finally, we saw three huge luminous ghosts that slowly circled above us. Heyerdahl believed that he saw, most likely, unknown inhabitants of the ocean depths. However, we recall that the transoceanic voyage of the Kon-Tiki took place at the end of the 40s of the 20th century, when there was no information about the mysterious NGOs yet, and therefore it is difficult to say how the traveler would appreciate what he saw if he had this information.

In 1964, the US Navy conducted another exercise, this time off the coast of Puerto Rico. They were attended by five escort ships, the aircraft carrier Wasp, as well as several submarines. In addition, aircraft also participated in the exercises, and at least one of them was towing a device for detecting submarines on a cable at a low level. It was in the surface layer, almost just below the water surface. Judging by the reports, the submarines were maneuvering in the area in silent mode. Quite suddenly, something exceptional happened, at least, as far as I can tell, it all started in the following way. The hydroacoustic on one of the escorts reported to the bridge that one of the submarines had broken formation and, apparently, began to pursue some unknown target. The operator, of course, did not know if this was a “trap” provided by the plan, since the purpose of the exercises was to practice actions to detect the “enemy” ships, and “traps” are always used in exercises of this kind. However, the report of the operator baffled everyone. The fact is that the unidentified underwater object indicated by him was moving at a speed of more than 150 knots!

The watch officer in the wheelhouse immediately reported this to the ship's commander, who, in turn, contacted the headquarters ship, the Wasp aircraft carrier. What was his disappointment when he heard how all the other ships and planes of sonar observation, literally interrupting each other, are in a hurry to report the same out of the ordinary fact. In at least 13 submarine logbooks and aircraft logbooks, an entry appeared that their hydroacoustics detected an ultra-fast submarine. Corresponding reports were immediately sent to the commander of the Atlantic Fleet of the US Navy in Norfolk (Virginia). The officers, technicians and other participants in the exercise who were on board the ships claimed that they personally saw the signals on the screens; moreover, everyone unanimously declared that, judging by the nature of these signals, the unidentified object had a single propeller or some device similar in characteristics and was moving at a speed of about 150 knots! Currently maximum speed submarines in a submerged position does not exceed 45 knots. But that is not all. Judging by the reports, hydroacoustics for four days were able to follow the signals of this mysterious object. At the same time, he maneuvered within a vast area and plunged up to 20 thousand feet. Meanwhile, the depth record for a standard submarine is about 6,000 feet. This story made a lot of noise and to this day is almost a textbook case of meeting with an unidentified underwater object.

The story of the ultra-high-speed mysterious submarine off Puerto Rico was not the only one. Chief Officer C.J. Boyez and Midshipman M. Hibbert of the British training ship Telemachus, Commander J.C. Edmonds reported the following:

“On May 30, 1962, dim rays of light were observed in the Gulf of Thailand. The rays made their way through the water or spread under it. They passed the ship at a speed of three beams per second. Then these rays turned from parallel lines into arcuate ones, bent in the direction of the clockwise movement, concentrating around the center, which is clearly located on the horizon. Then the beams became erratic, another group of beams appeared near the bow on the port side. These rays were arcuate, turned counterclockwise. The lines gradually faded away, their movements slowed down, and soon the rays disappeared altogether. The echo sounder was in working condition, but showed the depth marked on the map without any changes.

And here is how the US Navy officer J. R. Baudelaire described the incident with him in September 1952:

“My ship passed through the Strait of Hormuz on its way to India. The night was bright and clear. The third officer called me to the bridge, saying that he noticed something that I simply must see. Approximately four points on the port side at the bow of the ship in the direction of the Iranian coast, a luminous streak appeared that seemed to pulsate. It looked like the northern lights, but was located much lower: on the horizon or below it. I looked through the binoculars: the luminous zone was definitely below the horizon, in the water. Gradually she approached the ship, and we determined that the pulsation seemed to start in the center of the band. At a distance of about a mile, it became noticeable that the line was breaking, taking on an uneven rounded shape with a diameter of 1000-1500 feet. It could now be seen that the pulsation was caused by the rotation of the interior about a rather ill-defined center; streaks of light, reminiscent of searchlight beams, emanated from the center and moved counterclockwise, like spokes in a giant wheel. For several minutes, the ship occupied a position approximately in the center of this phenomenon. The glow was significant: parts of the surface structures of the ship became visible. The luminous beams seemed to pass a certain point at intervals of almost half a second. One can well imagine what impression this made on those present; we were in the center huge wheel, whose phosphorescent 4 spokes quickly rotate around the ship!

The center of the glow gradually shifted to the starboard side, passed the stern, moving further and further away. The Wheel was still within sight of a few miles astern when a pulsating band of light, a repetition of the phenomenon just happened, was clearly visible on the starboard side of the ship's bow. In terms of area, it was slightly smaller than the first, and the glow was also less. Its center slowly moved along the starboard side to the stern, maintaining a well-defined pattern of rotating luminous "spokes". I was under the impression that the true glow was due to natural phosphorescence in the water. "wheel" configuration, well marked "spokes", rotational movements around the center, as well as the speed of the light beam passing through the water - all this excluded the possibility of this phenomenon occurring due to the fact that fish spawned in schools, due to other marine animals, or some other similar reason.

About half an hour later, the ship's crew observed a third of the same phenomenon:

« General characteristics, the direction of rotation, were exactly the same as in the first two cases, but this phenomenon was much less, and the glow also decreased. Its diameter was no more than 800-1000 feet, but compared with the other two it was less impressive.

In January 1965, near New Zealand, American pilots from a DC-3 aircraft observed a strange metal structure about 30 meters long and 15 meters wide underwater at a depth of 10 meters. Officially, after this incident, the New Zealand Navy stated that not a single submarine could enter these waters due to their shallow water and inaccessibility.

In April 1965, 80 miles off the coast of Australia near Melbourne, fishermen saw two strange submarines surface a hundred meters apart, also in shallow reef water where no surface ship could enter.

In July 1967, the crew of the Argentine frigate "Naviero" off the coast of Brazil recorded a brightly glowing "cigar" 35-37 meters long next to them.

In 1972, another annual NATO Deep Freeze exercise took place in the North Atlantic. Since the development of a number of actions was carried out in the area of ice fields, the ships participating in the exercises were provided with icebreakers. Suddenly, near one of the icebreakers, breaking through the three-meter ice, a certain object of a spherical shape and silvery color flew out and disappeared into the sky at great speed. The radius of the ball was up to 12 meters. But the broken polynya was much larger. Taking off into the air, the ball carried along huge blocks of ice to a height of 20–39 meters, while the water in the polynya was covered with clouds of steam, apparently from the hot skin of the ball. The fact that the ball took off from under the water was recorded by the famous polar explorer Rubens J. Willer, who was on board the icebreaker at that time.

In the hunt for unidentified underwater objects and Quakers, the Americans relied on their global sonar tracking system for Soviet submarines SOSUS, covering the entire North Atlantic and part of the Pacific Ocean. The first elements of this system were installed in the 60s of the 20th century. In 1991, the Americans allowed civilian scientists to access SOSUSU.

Listening posts located at a depth of several hundred meters make it possible to recognize most sounds by spectrograms - a kind of voice prints. From them, you can calculate the "songs" of whales, the rumble of submarine propellers, the friction of icebergs on the bottom, or the peals of underwater earthquakes.

Unknown sources are broadcasting on long waves that travel vast distances, in fact, all over the ocean. They are detected by sensors located on different sides of the globe. Sounds are low-frequency, similar to the echoes of some kind of technology or signals addressed to someone. Recorded on a tape recorder and scrolled at an increased speed, they become distinguishable for human ears, moreover, they acquire characteristics. Scientists gave them their names: "train", "whistle", "braking", "howl".

“Take 'braking', for example,” says Professor Fox, a leading expert in ocean acoustics. - This sound, similar to that of a plane landing, first appeared in 1997 in the Pacific Ocean. Now he has moved to the Atlantic. The source is located far from the hydrophones, and we cannot detect it.”

A frequency-modulated and seemingly meaningful signal called "upward" constantly sounded from 1991 to 1994. Then suddenly he disappeared. But a few years later it reappeared - noticeably intensified and became more diverse. US Navy analysts, who are trying to figure it out by conducting research in parallel with civilian scientists, are shrugging their shoulders so far. Whose signals, it is not clear to anyone. Where exactly they come from is unknown, it is impossible to detect the sources of mysterious sounds. As if on purpose, they “nested” far from the hydrophones and moved around. NZO - unidentified sound objects. So they call these anomalies by analogy with UFOs. Who is making noise? Unknown animals, aliens or inhabitants of some underwater civilization?

In March 1966, US specialists conducted tests on long-range underwater communications. The kilometer antenna was laid along the continental shelf. A ship was sent to the sea with locators lowered to the bottom. But after the experiment began, something incomprehensible began to happen. First they received the signal itself, then something like a repetition of the signal, like an "echo", and some strange, as if encoded messages. The experiment was repeated several times - and with the same result. One got the impression, later admitted one of the participants in the experiment, Colonel Alex Sanders, that “someone down there, in the depths, received our signal, imitated it in order to attract our attention, and then began to transmit his message on the same wave.” When they spotted the source of these signals, they found that it is located in one of the little-studied areas of the Atlantic Ocean at a depth of 8000 meters. They could not figure out the anomaly, and the experiment was terminated as a failure. However, 30 years later, in 1996, the recorded signals were passed through the Pentagon's computers. What the decryption gave, the US Navy cryptographers have not yet been told, but military oceanologists have noticeably intensified research both on the very bottom in this region of the Atlantic, and all sorts of options for long-range underwater communications.

“No one really knows what can be heard from them (underwater creatures),” Professor Christopher Fox commented on the situation, hinting at mysterious sounds.

Another thing is also unclear: are living beings or any other objects capable of rushing through the water column at the speed of a meteor? It turns out that there are such observations. For more than 100 years, sailors of merchant and military ships have reported strange phenomena - bright lights and unidentified objects under water. Most of the messages refer to the waters of the Persian and Siamese Gulfs, the South China Sea and the Strait of Malacca. And to explore one of the deepest canyons in Mindanao, a depth of 9,000 meters, from where strange sounds have been heard more and more often, scientists from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are preparing an expedition. Maybe this study will finally reveal the secrets underwater world? However, information about the expedition has been available for several years, and so far nothing has been heard about the expedition itself. Perhaps it was canceled, but perhaps it has already taken place a long time ago, only its results remain classified.

Who are you Quakers?

In the early 1980s, the Quaker program was abruptly shut down. The group was disbanded. The officers received new appointments. All materials on the topic labeled "Top Secret" were summarized in several plump files that disappeared forever in the depths of the General Staff archive (all information about the "Quakers" was transferred there). Why the group was so suddenly disbanded is not clear, but it is completely clear why the results of its work were strictly classified. Each state is obliged for the time being to keep its priorities secret, especially in such sensitive areas as this. It is most likely that the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, fearing information leakage, decided to concentrate all information and documents on anomalous .p.) in the same hands. And yet, without disclosing classified cases, what new things did they learn about the Quakers? What is known about them today?

I began to study the history of the Quakers more than 10 years ago. I talked a lot with submarine commanders, who directly listened to these mysterious “wahs”, found long-retired officers from the special group of the Navy’s intelligence department, who directly studied this phenomenon, specialists from the naval research institute dealing with acoustics, scientists from the Institute of Oceanology. I will say right away that I have not heard a single opinion on this problem. Opinions were very different, but they all agreed on one thing: “Quakers” are an objective reality, and not chaotic ocean sounds, but a targeted impact on underwater objects with a specific goal.

Some of the experts to this day believe that the "Quakers" are nothing more than unknown living beings, and with a very high level of intelligence. This version is held primarily by employees of the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of the Seas of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who were once attracted to the Quaker theme. Of course, we are not talking about the mythical capsili fish the size of a whale and a dog's muzzle, and the no less fabulous flyaway fish with the head of a huge cat, and not about the legendary monsters northern seas Middle Ages Golferambe and Maschuger, some underwater witches or even more terrible monkfish. We are talking about some very real, but not yet known to science underwater creature. There is nothing impossible in this, because there are plenty of evidence of unknown inhabitants of the ocean depths! After all, even about the whale, which man has known for more than two thousand years, we still do not know much. Perhaps the "Quakers" belong to some subspecies of the mysterious giant architect squid, whose dead carcasses are periodically thrown ashore by the waves. Perhaps this is a subspecies of a giant eel or even a plesiosaur! The presence of sensory organs operating in the acoustic range makes the most probable version that "Quakers" may be related, or at least some of the traits, of cetaceans. In this case, their constant interest in submarines is understandable. Unknown architects may well take them for their worst enemies - sperm whales. But why, in this case, do they not flee, but let themselves know about themselves? Maybe because these are some special architects for which sperm whales themselves are prey. But the submarines still somehow confuse the underwater hunters, they revolve around them for a long time, trying to understand what it is that has come to visit them.

Take, for example, the mysterious prehistoric Zeglodon cetacean, the oldest inhabitant of the ocean depths, whose skeleton is in the Boston Maritime Museum. Judging by it, Zeglodon had a snake-like shape, lived at great depths and, quite possibly, possessed the same sound transmission organs as modern whales and dolphins. Who will give guarantees that zeglodons or similar ones do not exist to this day?

There is evidence that sea snakes seen by people developed speeds of up to 65 kilometers per hour on the surface of the sea! With what speed they can move under water is unknown, but it is quite possible that it will be enough to overtake submarines rushing in the darkness of the depths. To a certain extent, the habitats of sea snakes and "Quakers" also coincide: between Greenland and Iceland, between Scotland and the coast of America, the Gulf of Mexico and the western part of the Pacific Ocean.

Decoders involved in the study of the recorded signals of the "Quakers" are also at a loss. "Quakers" are quite different from anything previously known. And if one heard in them clearly living origin, then others believed that these signals were more of a technical origin.

The second version, that the "Quakers" are underwater UFOs, is not very popular among the officers of the special group dealing with this problem. Although it is not entirely excluded. Who knows, maybe it is UFOs that begin to accompany submarines with their underwater bases and escort submarines until they leave these areas. The fact is that in a number of cases the behavior of the "Quakers" was very similar.

And finally, the last, third version. It was she who was initially closest to the officers of the task force. Maybe because the most time and effort was spent on it. This version assumes that the "Quakers" are nothing more than new developments of the Americans, who seek to use them to detect our submarines in strategically important areas for the United States. A number of weighty arguments speak in favor of this version.

First, very often (although not always) shortly after the appearance of the Quakers, American anti-submarine ships appeared in the area where our submarines were located. For the sake of objectivity, however, it must be said that the areas of the most frequent detection of the sea serpent coincide with the areas where the most powerful anti-submarine forces of NATO are located. So, for example, the area between Greenland and Iceland almost completely coincides with the famous Faroe-Icelandic anti-submarine frontier.

Secondly, the areas of detection of "Quakers" by our submarines, as a rule, were of particular interest to the US Navy, since, in addition to anti-submarine lines, they included patrol positions for American submarine missile carriers and combat training ranges.

Thirdly, in one of the Leningrad research institutes, at one time there was a craftsman who designed a kind of “Quaker” - the simplest sensor with an elementary signal reception and transmission circuit. The picture of the use of such sensors may be as follows. They are scattered in large quantities in the required areas. When a submarine passes, the Quaker picks it up (it can be the noise of propellers, an electric or magnetic field, etc.) and gives peculiar signals. These signals are received and processed by more complex devices, which determine the course, location and speed of the submarine. After that, anti-submarine forces are called into the area, which immediately begin their hunt, having all the data for its successful completion. However, this version also has its weaknesses. First of all, if these are sensors that provide information about the course of the submarine, then why do they work not only in the direction of its movement, but also in other directions? In addition, the "Quakers" never worked from several bearings at once, and this is how you can most reliably and quickly determine the elements of the movement of the submarine. In a number of cases, the "Quakers" changed their tone, sometimes even, as it were, "mimicking" the impulses sent from the submarines. This also does not particularly fit with the version of the simplest sensors scattered across the ocean floor.

Well, why did they stop research and close the topic? Here, too, there is something to speculate about. This could happen if it was decided with sufficient certainty to consider "Quakers" as living beings. Ichthyology is not included in the priority interests of the Navy, so it was decided not to be distracted by this anymore. Although in this case it was apparently necessary to continue the research. Who knows, maybe someday the “Quakers” would more than replace the fighting dolphins ... If the “Quakers” turned out to be US Navy sensors, then the topic could be closed, because now it was necessary not to establish the very nature of the “Quakers” and develop ways to deal with them. As for UFOs, all data on them could simply be removed from the Navy and transferred to another department that specialized in this problem.

Quakers in the 21st century

Somewhere in the early 90s, a message suddenly flashed in the press that the US Navy was currently intensively studying the ocean floor and searching for unknown inhabitants of great depths, whose signals were repeatedly recorded and supposedly even partially deciphered. Who knows, maybe it was all about the same mysterious "Quakers"! And perhaps, nevertheless, the day will come when the mystery of the mysterious ocean signals will not only be fully disclosed, but will also become public knowledge.

But what about our former "probable adversaries" and current "probable allies" - the Americans? How do they solve the problem of "Quakers" now? Of course, given the secrecy of such studies, we are unlikely to find out the full information in the near future, but something has leaked to the press anyway. So, in 1997, the US Navy hydrophone stations that tracked submarines off the coast South America, recorded a very strange sound in the ocean, undoubtedly made by a living creature. The source was never identified, however, judging by its acoustic power, none of the marine animals known today could “gurgle” so loudly. Not so long ago with truly sensational statement Professor Christopher Fox, one of the leading experts in the field of acoustics of the World Ocean, the head of the International Acoustic Monitoring Project, who devoted his whole life to studying the mysterious acoustic signals coming from the abyss, at his center in Newport (Oregon), spoke. In one of his last interviews, Fox pointedly said: “The depths of the oceans are so unexplored that even aliens can hide there. Mysterious underwater inhabitants are not yet visible, but already well heard. In the mouth of a serious and well-known scientist, such recognition is worth a lot. Of course, Fox does not reveal everything, but his hint is more than transparent.

Editor's note: We are publishing new material by a citizen journalist who regularly reveals all the most complex secrets of humanity using ordinary Google maps without leaving the monitor. Now the author has switched from the topic of cartography and geodesy to acoustics and phonetics...

I will not hide that I experienced creative pleasure while working on this material. Since this is the most sensational and, probably, the most mysterious of my works. As always, I stumbled upon yet another riddle while surfing the Internet. Perhaps it will seem strange to someone, some of you will accuse the author of a fake, someone will once again twist his finger at his temple. Well, so be it. I will not be offended, since the world is multicolored and more interesting if there are people in it who are able to surprise and be surprised. As the famous singer V. S. Vysotsky sang back in 1976:

“So less obstacles and delays for them,

And zadorin on the way, and knots.

Unlike other weirdos.

It is a pity that we rarely meet singles,

Glorious little, mischievous eccentrics ... "

Between 1991 and 2007, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the Pacific Marine and scientific laboratory NOAA PMEL, using the SOSUS (SOund SUrveillance System) submarine detection system, recorded repetitive sound waves off Bear Island in the Barents Sea.

I don't know the exact date of the recording, but the original sound file is archived on the NOAA PMEL website. A short video clip is available on YouTube.

Entry uploaded in 2009 has great amount views. Very unusual comments by scientists on this sound file. They cannot explain the nature of the record itself, but believe that this is possible due to the influence of the tidal wave. It is believed (but not yet scientifically proven) that a strong tidal wave, or even a tsunami, can generate sound waves of different frequencies and spectra. Whether this is so or not is not known for certain to this day.

Help on the submarine detection system. SOSUS (SOund SUrveillance System, Sound Surveillance System) SOSUS (SOund SUrveillance System, Sound Surveillance System) is a US sonar anti-submarine system. Designed to detect and identify submarines. The system is deployed at anti-submarine lines: Cape North Cape - Bear Island, Greenland - Iceland - Faroe Islands - Great Britain (Faroe-Icelandic border) in the Pacific Ocean. One of the ways to force the anti-submarine line is the wiring under the ship's hull. The system was an effective means of detecting nuclear submarines of the USSR Navy of the 1st and 2nd generations. The advent of 3rd generation submarines with significantly lower noise levels drastically reduced the detection range. At the turn of the 1990s, an experiment was conducted in the Norwegian Sea to detect a submarine using the SOSUS system, including the Caesar complex, as a result, the estimated coordinates of the submarine formed an ellipse measuring 216 by 90 kilometers. As of 2007, all shore posts of the SOSUS system operated in automatic mode (which does not require operators to keep a round-the-clock watch), while some of the system's hydroacoustic stations were mothballed.

NOAA's PMEL Lab has done a lot of military research in recent years. Since the détente in the mid-1990s and early 2000s reduced military use of the SOSUS sound surveillance system, priority was given to scientific research. Highly great importance had a study sound waves accompanying tides, storms and tsunamis. But the scientists obtained the most mysterious material near Bear Island in the Barents Sea. It was here that on April 7, 1989, in the Norwegian Sea near Bear Island, the nuclear submarine Komsomolets (K-278) died as a result of a fire.

Reference: K-278, the unique submarine of the K-278 "Komsomolets" series - the Soviet nuclear submarine of the 3rd generation, the only boat of the project 685 "Fin". The boat holds the absolute record for diving depth among submarines - 1027 meters (August 4, 1985). As a result of the disaster and the death of the ship, 42 people died, 27 survived. Now the nuclear submarine lies at the point with coordinates 73°43′17″ N. sh. 13°15′51″ E (G) (O)Coordinates: 73°43′17″ s. sh. 13°15′51″ E (G) (O) at a depth of 1658 meters. Some of the secret equipment was removed by NATO bathyscaphes: “In 1998, it was discovered that there were no recording stations, only neatly undocked anchors remained from them. Probably, the instruments were removed or cut off with the help of other underwater vehicles or uninhabited remote-controlled robots. The boat's reactor was securely shut down, but the torpedo tubes contained rocket-torpedoes with a nuclear warhead.

And it is in this place that the monitoring stations for SOSUS submarines are located. A strange entry was also made here. I came across her by accident, so I decided to “work” with her a little. Fortunately, there is an excellent program Adobe Audition CS5.5. This is a magical program in every sense. Sound engineers and those who are professionally engaged in sound recording will understand me. Availability a large number plugins, filters, etc. makes it versatile. But to work with it, you need a fairly powerful computer. Fortunately, I have such a computer. Initially, I understood that this signal refers to complex signals. This is a kind of "layer cake" of different sound waves. It is technically impossible to do this, since it is impossible to mix heterogeneous sounds into a single array. Therefore, I am sure that this sound file is genuine. You cannot mix, but you can separate the sound by highlighting the main tone. If you first remove all sound interference (pickup), improve the sound, give the sound file saturation and brightness. Actually that's what I did. Only I used different degrees of "cleaning" the sound range, keeping the intermediate results. So from one record, I got 16 fragments. But the result really shocked me. To give scientific explanation I can’t do this, because my knowledge for this, obviously, is not enough.

So what did I get? Apparently, this signal is not natural. It appears to be artificial. Why did I decide so? Because at the very first attempts to clear the recording of noise, I received a clear signal from the recording of some completely earthly song. Its motive is vaguely familiar to me, as it was once popular all over the world. However, the music itself is very distorted. This usually happens when the primary signal is relayed. By the way, radio signals are very well conducted under water. Since the water itself is both fresh, and even sea water is an excellent conductor of electricity. Actually, the principle of operation of the system is based on this) SOSUS (SOSUS) So, this signal is possible of a completely terrestrial origin. Only here, that this signal is unusually transmitted with a large delay. Which, of course, I can't explain. Then it got even more interesting. The signal was further cleaned many times in different ways, the main tone was singled out in each specific fragment. What is most striking is that these signals are different. Both in tone and in sound. As if beings unknown to anyone are trying to make contact with us in this way. By the way, I remembered a long history of the Quakers. Quaker (or wah) - the alleged source of unknown underwater sound vibrations of the low frequency range, sometimes recorded by the echolocation installations of ships. The name of the phenomenon comes from the similarity of some of the recorded signals with the sounds made by frogs (however, in addition to “croaking”, many other sounds are also recorded). The first reported cases date back to the 1970s. The peak of messages falls on 1975-1980. After 1990, there has not been a single officially registered case, which is most likely caused by a decrease in the tension of conducting maritime reconnaissance and submarine duty. According to one version, Quakers are attempts to establish contact with representatives of other civilizations or NGOs. Unidentified floating (underwater) object (NPO) - the perception of an object or glow in the Earth's hydrosphere with liquid water, the origin of which remains unknown. This material has been repeatedly played up in the scientific world. So alive to this day is the theory that some living creatures live in the depths of the oceans. They have repeatedly tried to contact us, but to no avail. And many researchers believe that there are bases of alien creatures at the bottom of the world's oceans. Which are also sometimes found on the way of the inhabitants of the Earth.

Conclusion. The artificial origin of this record has not remained a mystery to me. I don't think you will notice it yourself. Since when listening to an audio file, it is well audible. Why these sounds were recorded in this place, I do not know. But I think it all makes sense. In general, apparently, this is another unsuccessful contact between the worlds, which none of the earthlings noticed. And what do you think about it yourself?
