Neurological Department No. 2 is the clinical base of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the Voronezh State Medical University. N.N. Burdenko. The department is located on the 4th floor of the 1st building (Burdenko 1, VODKB No. 1). The bed capacity of the department is 45 beds. Long-term electroencephalography with video monitoring is a method of instrumental study of brain biopotentials, which allows to identify various violations its functions, such as sleep disturbance, paroxysmal conditions of epileptic and non-epileptic origin, to investigate the causes of headache and cerebrovascular accident in combination with clinical data, to carry out differential diagnosis and confirm the diagnosis of epilepsy, to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
It is important that the combination of simultaneous recording and playback on the monitor of an electroencephalogram and video without a delay even for a fraction of a second (which is impossible with other similar equipment) gives a complete picture of what is happening for making a diagnosis and, which is important for differentiating physiological artifacts (inevitable during long-term recording) from paroxysmal activity, accompanied by a change in muscle tone and various movements. The correlation of the EEG with possible environmental natural stimuli (television, computer workload, reading, various emotions) makes it possible to reveal their influence on the functioning of the brain.
Psychologist conducts pathopsychological and neuropsychological testing to identify the features of the formation of cognitive functions, including gross and fine motor skills, visual and auditory gnosis, praxis, intellectual development, communicative functions and speech functions of the child.
Defectologists diagnose various disorders of speech development.
