Confectioning is a scientifically based selection of materials for a product, taking into account their properties, modern fashion trends and features of the production process. Science is based on a good knowledge of the properties of materials, the ability to use them to achieve a certain external effect of clothing, creating clothing with desired properties that provide comfort, convenience, durability and wear resistance.

The confectioner in his work takes into account the properties of each of the materials, interconnecting them in the "man-clothes-environment" system. When choosing materials and accessories, the confectioner is guided by:

  • the purpose of clothing - for everyday wear, sports, work, leisure, special occasions;
  • addressee (for whom the clothes are intended - men, women, children);
  • type of material - fabric, knitwear, fur, leather, etc.;
  • material quality - structure, thickness, surface density, color scheme;
  • environment - season, climatic conditions, subject environment.

At the same time, the requirements of expediency, rationality, and the correct use of the properties of materials must be observed.

Confectioning of materials is an important and crucial stage in modern clothing production: from right choice materials, the quality and competitiveness of clothing, the stability of the appearance during wear and the ease of care for clothing depend.
