Important Thoughts and Illustrative Examples from the Biblical School of Gilead. Oh, you are our example, beloved! When visual examples don't work for you

For nearly 70 years, the purpose of the Gilead School was to send missionaries to various countries where they were to serve in remote areas. But since 2011, the goal of the School has changed.

First, the cadets of the School are already in special full-time service, as missionaries, traveling overseers, or Bethelites.

Second, they are selected by the branch committee, and only then are they invited to Gilead.

Now they will no longer go to remote areas, but to densely populated areas in order to support local meetings and promote organizational activities.
On September 14, 2013, at the graduation of the 135th class of Gilead, program chairman and GC member Guy Pearce described the feelings of the graduates:

"Jehovah chooses ordinary people like you and me, and does extraordinary things according to his will."

"No matter how many problems we have. Jehovah always has a solution! Maybe he will not solve specific problem, but he will certainly give strength to overcome it! Jehovah lifts up when we fall." (Sam Robes)

"Honour others! And they will do the same to you when they see you glorifying your ministry, not yourself!" (William Samuelsen)

Four graduates told how the training received at the School helped them."In reality, Joshua did not replace Moses. Moses had his own role in Jehovah's organization, as did Jesus, who imitated him. Today, too, in the School of Gilead, as in other Schools, cadets are not trained to replace others, but to accomplish all that is now needed in the Organization."

"The world is in the state it is because Satan was not humble. I realized that in order to be useful in God's organization, I must be humble."

Geoffrey Jackson of RS spoke about a poor widow whom Jesus saw in the temple:
"Jesus said that the two coins she threw into the treasury were all she could still live on. Those coins were her gift to Jehovah. No matter how they were disposed of, Jehovah would bless her for this gift! Sometimes we Our efforts may seem to go unnoticed. But in reality, they are proof of our devotion! Our gift to Jehovah!"

Brother Heard's last words touched their hearts:
"The school is over. But let the wonderful memories from this school accompany you all your life!"

Thoughts and real life examplesfrom the 137th grade of Gilead.

We must strive to comprehend Jehovah's thinking and adopt it, but so far we have comprehended only the edge of his thinking, we see only the very tip of the iceberg. Scraping the surface, so to speak. Although students graduate from Gilead, from the point of view of Jehovah's thinking, this is not graduation from school to college, but from nursery school to kindergarten.

When God said that Abraham would have a son, he was surprised and asked how it was possible. When God said that he would punish Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham was surprised again and even began to argue with God. But when God asked him to sacrifice his son, Abraham was no longer surprised and did not argue, although this was the most incomprehensible thing. He learned to trust Jehovah. So God gradually taught Abraham patience. In Heb. 6:15 says that Abraham received his reward only after he had learned to exercise patience.

Every morning, when you get up, put on humility, and it will be easier for you to get through the day. The result is guaranteed.

It is important to be able to look at yourself through the eyes of others, especially those who do not like you. If you learn to do this, you will grow spiritually faster.

A clear example: you need to “drive” the thoughts and principles of Jehovah into your heart, just as workers drive nails into sleepers when they build a railway. It takes a lot of hits, one is not enough. If the nail is not driven in properly, the rail may come off, resulting in railway accident. So are the principles of God - if they are badly hammered into our hearts, they will depart, which will lead to a spiritual catastrophe. You have to hit it securely. Then Satan will not be able to tear them from our hearts.

Using examples is a great art. We have already said that there should not be very many of them. The same examples that the speaker gives should be illustrative - that is, specific, easily imagined, causing a visual image, curiosity.

There are three basic rules for giving examples:

1. Focus on the example before giving it.

2. Do not force the meaning of the example on the audience (that is, do not say - "So this example shows us that ..." - the audience will draw this conclusion for themselves).

3. The example should be pre-processed - shortened and included in the context of your presentation. It should be short and descriptive.

Use Numbers

Statistical data, digital material have significant persuasiveness for almost any audience, and with the correct presentation of digital information, the persuasiveness of the speaker's speech is significantly increased.

Rely on visibility

It is known that about 80% of information a person receives through vision. Hence - the most important role of the visual side of the perception of oral speech.

Visibility is created in the speaker's speech both by figurative examples and by the direct use of visual means. Both means of visualization lead to memorizing the content of speech and to a large extent contribute to increasing the persuasiveness of speech, as it ensures the interaction of the left (logical) and right (figurative) hemispheres of the brain.

The use of visual techniques in the process of speaking gives the speaker the opportunity to simplify the stated idea for its perception and thereby make it more understandable and convincing. According to E.A. Yunina and G.M. Sagach, about 20% of the information of a public speech is assimilated by the audience only through audiovisual techniques (tables, diagrams, graphs, video materials, etc.).

The use of visual aids in the process of oral presentation requires compliance with a number of rules, the main of which are as follows:

1. If visual material is not essential for explaining or arousing interest in speech in general, then its use is meaningless.

2. Do not post anything in advance, do it only at the right time.

3. Do not include words in tables and graphs that will not be visible to everyone.

4. Do not tell the audience: “It’s really hard to see here ...” - in this case it’s better not to hang the table at all.

5. Each table must have a large written title, all inscriptions must be made horizontally.

6. Statistical tables to give the form of diagrams that reflect the size, trends. The most spectacular graphs, as studies show, are in the form of multi-colored rectangles of different heights.

7. Be sure to verbally link your judgments with the image on the tables and graphs.

8. If you are demonstrating an object to the audience, holding it in your hand, hold it at shoulder level or 5 cm higher.

9. If the audience is looking at the picture or diagram you have posted, pause and let them finish.

10. Do not distribute any manuals and images to the audience - this distracts the audience, reduces the level of attention. Keep all supplies with you.

11. Remove manuals, remove tables, erase from the board as soon as it becomes unnecessary, so that in the future it does not distract listeners.

Use humor

Every audience loves humor. Jokes are well remembered, they raise the prestige of the speaker, dispose the audience to him, relieve fatigue and tension. However, you should not turn your entire performance into a humorous one - unless it belongs to the genre of entertainment performances. P. Soper notes that the best humor in public speaking- it is original, that is, its own. Of course, not every speaker is capable of such humor, but borrowed humor is also effective, you should only refer to the author of the joke or anecdote.

F. Snell formulated a number of rules for "telling funny stories" for speakers. Here they are:

1. Tell only what you know well.

2. Your joke should be understood by everyone present.

3. The joke should develop the theme of your speech.

4. The joke should be short.

Do not use old jokes - the worst thing is if the audience says "Old!".

7. In front of a large audience, avoid juicy jokes and details. In a narrow circle, such jokes are acceptable, but surrounded a large number strangers, many listeners feel embarrassed by such jokes.

8. Do not make long pauses for laughter and applause.

These are the main general rules effective argumentation. Compliance with them will give the speaker the opportunity to increase the effectiveness of his persuasive impact on the audience, ensure the availability and memorability of the information being communicated.

Techniques for strengthening the text require more special research and systematization. Let's name just a few of them, which allow increasing confidence in a particular reported fact or put forward position (these are the so-called reliability signals, that is, signals that increase the reliability of the message, as if guaranteeing it):

Presenting a fact as new (“recently established”, “I just read that ...”, “yesterday it became known that ...”);

Presentation of the fact as not immediately realized by the speaker (“I myself did not believe in this for a long time”, “I doubted this myself for a long time ...”, etc.);

Presentation of the fact as established as a result of the experiments: “experimentally established ...”, “experiments have shown that ...”, etc.;

presentation of the fact as established by psychologists;

· presentation of the fact as established by American or Japanese scientists;

Presentation of the fact as established by young scientists;

· presentation of the fact as established by Moscow or Leningrad scientists;

a mention that the fact was established by a professor or academician;

· mentioning the names of scientists who established this fact, especially foreign ones;

Presenting a fact as one that was known for a long time, but only now remembered (“this method was used back in the 16th century ..”, “they knew about it back in the 19th century ...”, etc.).

The list of such methods should be supplemented. It should be noted that these techniques have a bright national coloring - they "work" in the Russian audience, but will be in many ways different in the American, Japanese, etc. For example, reference to the Bible is effective in Europe, but not in our audience, etc.

Tasks

1. Which statements are correct?

1. A thesis is a thought expressed by a speaker.

2. Thesis is the idea that the speaker is trying to justify.

3. Arguments are statements that support the thesis.

4. Arguments are the public statements of the speaker.

5. Arguments must be given in the system.

6. The order of the arguments can be arbitrary, the main thing is that they relate to the thesis.

7. The more arguments, the more convincing the presentation.

8. The optimal number of arguments is three.

9. One-sided argumentation is an argumentation only “For” or only “Against”.

10. One-sided argumentation is an argumentation only "For".

11. Counterargumentation is one-sided argumentation.

12. Counter-argumentation is a two-sided argument.

13. Inductive reasoning - from facts to conclusions.

14. Deductive reasoning - from facts to conclusions.

15. The optimal number of repetitions of the main idea is three times.

16. The use of foreign terms by the speaker increases the credibility of his speech.

17. In a modern speech, logic should prevail over emotion.

18. In a modern speech, emotion should prevail over logic.

19. If the attention of the audience is slightly distracted, this increases the persuasive power of the speech.

20. The moderate use of foreign terms creates the impression of the speaker's intellectual superiority and, as a result, his rightness.

21. Shorter speeches are perceived as more persuasive than longer ones.

22. Visual material should be displayed in the audience in advance.

23. Most effective method visual representation of data - multi-colored rectangles of different heights.

24. If you can distribute visual aids to the audience during the speech, you should do it.

25. The best humor in public speaking is a joke.

2. What is a paradox? Why is the “Use Paradoxes” technique effective? Why does paradox as a device of persuasion require careful consideration?

Explain the meaning of paradoxes:

Of the two quarreling, the one who is smarter is always to blame (W. Goethe)

Experience is like a stick - it helps you walk, but it prevents you from flying.

Talents need to be helped, mediocrity will break through on their own.

There are no perpetual motion machines in the world, but there are plenty of perpetual brakes.

The easiest way to seem smart is to be a pessimist (E. Yevtushenko)

Etiquette is reason for those who do not have it (Voltaire)

Do not sort things out, so as not to completely spoil them

A smart face is not yet a sign of intelligence

The joke must be understood quickly, and not necessarily correctly.

When all paths are open, someone will definitely go down the crooked path.

Money does not make a person happy, but it calms extremely

Happiness is not a destination, but a way to travel

Friends are fake, enemies are always real

If a person gave his life for an idea, this does not mean at all that he died for a just cause (O. Wilde)

You can't teach, you can learn (S. Mikhoels)

The teacher is not the one who teaches, but the one from whom they learn.

One who does not understand humor is a hopeless person. Nothing serious can be expected from him (P. Kapitsa)

Politeness is the difference between what you think and what you say.

Make up short persuasive speeches using the above paradoxes (of your choice). Start your speech with a paradox, give an example from life and draw a conclusion - confirm or refute this paradox.

3. Read first unemotionally, and then emotionally:

Society should take care of the elderly and the disabled because... (end with an emotional argument).

for example:

we will all be old someday;

everyone can become disabled;

an old grandmother lives with us, and I know ...;

a lone disabled person lives in our stairwell, and I see...

4. Use the argument "Try to show the real benefit for listeners from your suggestions or information."

Task execution example:

You have to listen carefully to the weather forecast.

Dear comrades! Please listen carefully to the weather forecast. The weather forecast is not a trifle, it concerns everyone. You always need to know what the weather will be in order to dress properly. We need to know if it will rain in order to decide whether to take an umbrella with us, whether to wear a raincoat. Why wear warm clothes or carry an umbrella with you all day if it won’t rain or it will be warm? Weather forecasts also transmit storm warnings and instructions to the population on how to behave (close the windows and windows, do not approach the windows in strong winds, turn off electrical appliances in the apartment, make sure that small children are at home). If you know in advance about the hurricane and take precautions, the damage from the hurricane will be minimal.

Material for the task:

It is necessary to install a door with a code lock on the entrance

Let's make a playground

Let's spend Saturday in our yard

Gotta watch the local news on TV

5. Link the following information to the idea of benefit/harm for listeners:

Don't watch a lot of TV

Drinking milk is good

Politeness gets things done

Investing in education is important and necessary

Must be able to speak culturally

Must be able to write well

We must try to get as much knowledge as possible

Must be able to drive

Need to know now foreign languages

Everyone should master the computer

Entrepreneurship is a profitable business for those who do not have a job

6. Personalize the following ideas.

Sample:

Adults understand everything better / Adults often do not understand children (adults, children)

The question of how people understand each other is an old and perhaps even eternal question. It has been discussed since time immemorial. The points of view of adults and children often clash on this issue. Adults usually believe that they are better versed in all things than children, because they are adults - they have education, knowledge, they have seen a lot in life. Children, on the other hand, often believe that adults are unable to understand children, because they are fascinated by their problems, they demand too much from children, do not give children freedom, they themselves have already forgotten that they were also children. So who is right - adults or children?

The student must go to bed early / The student can go to bed like adults (parents, children)

Children should not be given much money / Children should be given more money (adults, children)

Children pay little attention to learning / Teachers demand too much from children (teachers, schoolchildren)

We need a market economy / We need a planned economy (liberals, communists)

Entrepreneurship helps those who are unemployed to survive / Entrepreneurship is speculation and profit (small entrepreneurs, low-income people)

7. Formulate a thesis for a speech on the topic:

What gives a person education?

Should children be paid to help their parents around the house?

Is it possible to fight corruption?

Who has more time - the one who is just studying or the one who also earns extra money?

What sacrifices can children make from their parents?

Does prison correct?

Should smoking be allowed in school?

How to beat drunkenness?

Do we need censorship?

Should parents help their children with homework?

Can everyone live richly?

Can crime be eradicated?

Is it necessary to strengthen the vertical of power?

Remember that the thesis formulated by you must reflect your point of view in the form of a statement, and then you will need to prove the correctness of this thesis, this point of view, giving several arguments in support of it.

An example of completing the task: formulate the thesis of the speech on the topic “Are adults always right?”

Abstract options:

1. Adults are always right

2. Adults are not always right

3. Adults are right when they talk about "adult" things.

4. Adults are always wrong about children.

5. Adults are right when they use their knowledge and experience.

6. Adults are wrong when they get angry.

8. Pick up 3-4 arguments for the theses:

Everyone should play sports

Parents should take into account the opinion of children when making large purchases

Children should use the experience and knowledge of their parents

Good study is essential for the future

If you treat someone well, they will treat you well too.

Rest in Russia

9. Turn phrases into an argument: develop a thought in such a way that the original phrase becomes an argument for a thesis. Use the following means of linking parts of the statement: therefore, no wonder, that's why, it follows, now it becomes clear, now there is a possibility, precisely because of this, and this leads to the fact that etc.

Sample:

The weather is bad today. - The weather is bad today, so the traffic is bad; In order not to be late, you need to leave early.

Beer consumption has increased markedly in Russia

Municipal transport in all cities is experiencing financial difficulties

Youth has become more agile

Schoolchildren have nowhere to spend their free time

Everyone needs a mobile phone

Everyone should be able to use a computer

Shopping is best done online.

10. Use the technique of "anticipatory discussion of objections" in the argumentation of the following theses (give arguments, preferably several):

(In a conversation with parents) Today I will come home late, because .... Of course, you will say that I have to come early, but ...

(In a conversation with teachers) Teachers often have likes and dislikes in groups ... Of course, teachers will rightly object that .... but ...

(In conversation with a friend) I ask you not to call me after ten o'clock in the evening. Of course, you can say that there are urgent matters, but ....

(In a student's speech at a group meeting) I think we need to choose rhetoric as an elective subject. Of course, it may be objected to me that this subject is not as important as computer science or economics, but ...

Education is the basis of all further human life.

Russian is one of the most beautiful and richest languages in the world.

Politeness is the most important quality modern man helping him establish good relationships with others.

Let's come to me now!

Give me your pen for a minute!

Let's ride a bike!

Lend me a tent and a sleeping bag for the weekend!

17. The game "On the one hand, on the other hand"

Students are offered statements to which they must answer, partially agreeing and partially objecting to this thesis, giving arguments "for" and "against".

Task execution example:

It's good when you are the only child in the family. - On the one hand, it's good when you are the only child in the family, parents pay all their attention to you and spend all their money on you; on the other hand, it is bad when you are the only child in the family, because it is often boring at home, no one helps you, no one protects you.

Statement examples:

It's good when parents have a car.

It's good to have a mobile phone.

It's good when the holidays are long.

It's good when the winter is snowy.

It's good when the spring is early.

18. Prepare a presentation on the topic "Why I love TV."

Read the list of arguments, remove unnecessary ones that duplicate each other, add your own, then draw up a plan-outline and speak on this topic:

watching TV is interesting;

TV allows you to forget about the unpleasant;

television saves money;

it is now impossible to imagine our life without television;

television teaches how to make money;

when I watch TV, I relax;

television is a remedy for loneliness;

TV action movies bring up the desire to win;

you can just listen to TV and not watch;

television distracts from worries.

19. Follow the same pattern as the speech "Why I don't like TV."

20. The game "And this is how to say ...".

Answer the following statements "And this is how to say ..." and give your arguments refuting this statement:

It's good to have a lot of money.

It's good to always win.

Sitting at home alone is boring.

It's good to have a phone.

It's better when they don't ask you questions in class.

Fighters are boring to watch.

It's good to have a dog.

It's good to have a lot of snow in winter.

It's nice when you eat ice cream in the heat.

Continue the exercise in pairs: one gives the thesis, and the second refutes it.

Suggest similar statements of your own.

21. Finish the phrase by choosing an argument:

I love my dog very much because she....(what? what does she do for me? how does she treat me? etc.)

I don't like dogs because...

What I love the most is...because....

What I dislike the most is... because...

22. Express the theses below in different verbal forms (suggest at least three options); if necessary, add additional arguments.

Sample: The younger ones should take care of the older ones.

Caring for the elderly is the duty of the younger generation; The young in society should take care of the elderly; Older members of society should receive care and attention from the younger ones.

Material for the exercise

Society should take care of those who are now unable to earn their own living.

I like walking late at night because...

I have the right to come home late because I....

My parents are often wrong because...

Teachers are not always fair to students because...

Writing off is bad because...

24. The game "Controversy": two participants take turns giving arguments to opposite theses, the one who has more arguments wins. The teacher monitors the adequacy of the arguments.

I need to recharge because... Charging is useless, because ...
It's good to have siblings because... It's bad when you have brothers and sisters because...

  • Every Stirlitz knows: "the last phrase is remembered." Every Jehovah's Witness will agree that the most memorable speeches at meetings and conventions are interesting "illustrations."

    "A good example" is an expression well known to every SI. And, it seems, no one, except them, invests in it such an extensive meaning. What? In a manual on oratory, book "Learning in the Theocratic Ministry School," Lesson 45, "Teach by Illustrating," page 240, says:

    "... What is your task?
    Use figurative expressions, use stories and cases from life to achieve the goals that stand before you as a teacher ... "

    That is, metaphors, comparisons, allegories, hyperbole, parables, cases from life - all this is called here "illustrative examples." For most brothers and sisters, this is the "highlight" of any article and any speech; the one that is easiest to remember. And although, for real, the purpose of such literary and oratorical techniques is only emphasize and decorate the thought, in the minds of many SI they have the power proof of. Therefore, when I was preparing speeches, I understood that in order for our audience to like the speech, it is necessary to compose some interesting comparison, metaphor or tell some case, "in our favor", of course. It is these things that will most likely be repeated and passed on from mouth to mouth, and not at all biblical passages or the rationale for certain instructions of the organization. The above book, in the same chapter, on page 243, confirms:

    "... It takes time and effort to learn to give apt examples, however the result is worth it. Well-chosen visual examples affect not only the mind, but also the feelings. They give the statements a power that is not always achievable by a simple statement of facts.."
    But, here's the catch...The creeds and attitudes of the organization are not always based on "facts". And therefore, with the help of "a simple presentation of them" you will not achieve anything at all, there is simply nothing to express. This is where some "illustrative example" is needed, which is based on a deliberate violation of logic - sophism. He will veil all the weaknesses of the argument, and will create in the unpretentious listener (and the "sheep" are taught to be just like that, to exclaim: "thank you, oh, how delicious!" about all the "spiritual dishes") the impression that he was "convincingly substantiated" for everything. After all, those are the goals. "who stand before you as before a teacher." if you are a "teacher" in the SI congregation - not to establish and prove the truth, but to give the impression of the validity of the dogmas and teachings of the organization. And "the result is worth it" - people see "logic" where it did not even lodge.

    Such an "example" is like a figure that can only exist virtually, but in reality it is impossible, because logical geometric laws are violated (see picture)

    Examples? You are welcome! They constantly appear in various interpretations in the literature of the Society and speeches in collections ...

    1. We must obey the guidance that Jehovah gives us through his organization, even if we do not fully understand it. Small child trusts his father and firmly holds his hand, wherever his father he did not lead, not doubting that his father wanted the best for him ...

    Orders of the organization are not discussed! - that's the meaning of this instruction. But to say so directly would be rude and confuse listeners and readers, so a demagogic "suitable illustrative example" is needed...

    So, from the very beginning, perhaps the most popular substitution of the Leaders of the Council is carried out: the instructions of the leaders of the organization appear to be "God's guidance." The concepts of "God", "organization", "faithful slave", "Guiding Council" slowly merge in the mind of the believer, in fact, together. "We say - "party", we mean - Lenin! We say - Lenin, we mean - "party"!

    But here, comparing adults with children is also not an entirely honest logical device, and, by the way, they are sinned in many religions. Have you ever seen small children who listen to their parents in everything, but at the same time bear full responsibility for their actions? Have you heard of societies that require this of children? Of course not! Why do adults have freedom, they have the right to make their own decisions and question any advice, including those given, for example, by their elderly parents? Yes, because they are fully responsible for their decisions. And here it turns out - how to listen to our instructions, so become a small child, and if problems appear - decide for yourself, overgrown kid! Listen like children, answer like adults! But this does not happen, at least in a civilized society and in peacetime (we do not take into account the barracks) If you do not have freedom, then there is no responsibility, and if there is responsibility, freedom appears.

    2. Why do we not want to listen to the arguments of apostates, communicate with them, go to their websites, watch TV shows with their participation? Because their propaganda is poison! No one can drink even a small dose of poison without harm to the body! In the same way, even a brief exposure to apostate ideas can cause irreparable harm to our spiritual health.

    Paphos - for a ruble, logic - for a penny! Let's say the ideas of the apostates are really poison? Well, then, with what would it be logical to compare the most correct, most reasonable, most powerful and true ideas in the world - the ideas of the "faithful slave"? Of course, with a universal antidote, or even better - with acquired immunity against all poisons (there have been cases in history when people have developed such immunity). After all, "truth" - "everything conquers and crushes", "takes everyone prisoner", "accuses any language", "will heal everyone" and further down the list ... But, in this case, for some reason, it becomes helpless, like a kitten and some kind of “disenfranchised”, himself a former bearer of “truth”, suddenly, immediately after deprivation, acquires such a “heroic strength” that the current carriers of “truth” are almost afraid to look in his direction.

    Besides , from the point of view of the Orthodox, for example, propaganda from their co-religionists who have gone to the SI is poison, and according to the SI, those who have left them are spraying poison. And in Soviet times, anti-Soviet propaganda was considered poison; any criticism of the existing system, and it was seen even in the publications of the SI. The effect of a literal poison on the human body is an objective reality, confirmed chemical laws, it does not depend on the point of view of the subject. Therefore, comparing the arguments of opponents with "poison" is a form of demagogy. And Ruk.Sovet does this constantly and persistently. Well, he has no other way to hide the weaknesses of his teaching, as soon as he constantly frightens the “apostates” with omnipotence ...

    Of course, demagogy is used, to one degree or another, by leaders of other religions, politicians and businessmen. But there, at least, the audience is better prepared for this, because they are not deprived of the ability to critically analyze as methodically as Rook.Council does with his audience.

    These are some of the "illustrative" examples that were so fond of the ideologues of the SI that they became "beloved" for them. They are indeed "beloved", more precisely "not visual", but only in the sense that they are designed to obscure a person's ability to objectively perceive reality.

    “Jehovah chooses ordinary people like you and me and does extraordinary things in accordance with his will.”

    “It doesn't matter how many problems we have. Jehovah always has a solution! He may not solve a specific problem, but he will definitely give strength to overcome it! Jehovah lifts up when we fall.” (Sam Robes)

    “Honour others! And they will answer you the same when they see how you glorify your ministry, and not yourself! (William Samuelsen)

    Four graduates told how the training received at the School helped them.” In reality, Joshua did not replace Moses. Moses had a role to play in Jehovah's organization, as did Jesus, who imitated him. today also, in the School of Gilead, as in other Schools, cadets are trained not to replace others, but to fulfill all that is now needed in the Organization.

    “The world is in the state it is in because Satan was not humble. I realized that in order to be useful in God's organization, I must be humble."

    Geoffrey Jackson of RS spoke about a poor widow whom Jesus saw in the temple:
    “Jesus said that the two coins she threw into the treasury were all she could live on. Those coins were her gift to Jehovah. Regardless of how they were disposed of, Jehovah would bless her for this gift! Sometimes we may think that our efforts go unnoticed. But in reality, they are proof of our dedication! Our gift to Jehovah!”

    Brother Heard's last words touched their hearts:
    “The school is over. But let the wonderful memories from this school accompany you all your life!”

    Thoughts and real-life examples from the 137th grade of Gilead.

If the nail is not driven in properly, the rail may come off, resulting in a train accident. So are the principles of God - if they are badly hammered into our hearts, they will depart, which will lead to a spiritual catastrophe. You have to hit it securely. Then Satan will not be able to tear them from our hearts.

    And what important thoughts and illustrative examples do you remember???

    For nearly 70 years, the purpose of the Gilead School was to send missionaries to various countries where they were to serve in remote areas. But since 2011, the goal of the School has changed.

    Having become a part of some power, which she feels modestly strong, she experiences a share in its glory, strength and incorruptibility. Man renounces his Self, renounces individual autonomy and renounces freedom. However, he acquires a new confidence and a new pride through his participation in the power he represents.

    So he gets certainty from severe uncertainties. The more prominent forms of this psychic mechanism are found in the trials of subordination or dominance, or, as we would rather put it, masochistic and sadistic efforts, as we encounter them at different levels in normal people. This terminological use is fully justified, because the sadomasochist characterizes his special relationship to power. She loves authority and tends to obey it. At the same time, he wants to be the authority himself and subordinate others.

    In one case, he dissolves into an external force and loses himself. In the latter case, he expands himself, acquiring another being and gaining strength, which only he lacks. A characteristic feature of an authoritarian character is the specific functioning of the system of control over the free, emotional and cognitive processes of a person. This system, referred to in Anglo-Saxon literature as a belief-disbelief system, has a dual function in the mental face of a person: first of all, it attracts an objective image of the world and allows a person to understand the world so that he can decide according to the meanings of the information he/receives him.

    "... EVERY week most congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses give public talks on Bible topics. If you are an elder or ministerial servant, do you show that you are a good speaker and teacher? If so, you may be asked to give a public speech. Studying at the Theocratic Ministry School has already helped tens of thousands of brothers to prepare for this kind of ministry. If you have been assigned to give a public speech, where should you start? .." ()

    Secondly, by drawing a meaningful map of reality, it also acts as protective net against anxiety. Suppose we have a person who claims to be an infidel who is faced with a situation that is empirically justified, but with scientific point vision completely inexplicable healing. His reaction can be basically twofold: he either tells himself that the event he is facing is inexplicable in his current belief system, and so it is necessary to reevaluate the existing belief system and build a new system with this new experience.

    Start by getting abstract of public speech with the elder of his congregation. The sheep-like speaker has plenty to choose from: for now, the Watchtower has concocted 181 (!!!) abstract spiritual noodles. Until today, my dear readers, you had nowhere to read about what the OSB feeds its sheep every weekend.
    Now there is such an opportunity. My gift to you for the old-new year)

    Or he says that this event is incompatible with his belief system, so he is "absurd" and as such should be excluded from consciousness. We see that in the first case, the control system of persistence and rejection functions as an instrument of knowledge, in the second - as a system of intrapsychic protection against uncertainty and anxiety. The authoritarian nature emphasizes the secondary function of the belief system. The authoritarian mind is an introverted mind that, fearful of everything new, is passive and, if left alone, fails to integrate new information into a new belief system.

    Therefore, please accept another gift from me - a COMPILED file of these speeches, where the text is recognized as text and therefore easily copied. Everything is the same as in a regular text editor. You can download this PDF here: link.

    This mind needs authority with which it can identify with opinions, attitudes and beliefs. Substantial information is the answer to the question "Who says this?", "What is this?", and in principle it cannot distinguish the information as such from the original information and use it separately.

    It is important to understand that the cognitive system of an authoritarian nature is, in fact, a set of psychoanalytic defense mechanisms to protect the vulnerable mind and is not actually an instrument of knowledge. Therefore, he can tolerate numerous logical inconsistencies and irrelevances, and he can carry a blind faith that the solution to the inconsistencies must "exist". It is characterized by the strength and permanence of belief, which can sometimes paradoxically coincide with overly easy and fundamental changes in these beliefs, since what really matters is not objective without a belief system, but is an authority.

    Dependence on power is absolute and universal, and a person of an authoritarian nature is almost always convinced that even the bearers of ideas - the people around him - should be accepted or rejected only with the consent or disagreement with this power. What are the applications of these general theses in the field of religious psychology among members of new religious movements and sects?

    Note that this definition completely ignores the categorization of proclaimed doctrines, from an assessment of their veracity and consistency. In fact, it simply reflects the psychological mechanisms of the authoritative minds we talked about above and elevates them to a higher level of interpersonal interaction. In this definition, it is a purely socio-psychological definition: Sects are highly established and fully functioning groups in which there is an unconditional belief that the statements of the leaders are some sort of divine revelation and therefore absolutely binding on both the field of discovery and action.

    1. How well do you know God?

    2. Will you live through the last days?

    3. Serve with Jehovah's One Organization

    4. Testimony of God in the world around us

    5. Family life that warms the soul

    6. Noah's Flood Matters to Us

    7. Mercy is the main feature of true Christians

    8. Live not for yourself, but to do the will of God

    In a sectarian environment, freedom of choice is the first thing a person loses. The reason is basically simple: a sect member does not act alone. History shows that each sectarian group claims unlimited power during a certain period of its existence: "A prophet is the only person who speaks in any matter for the Lord," writes Ezra Taft Benson, the current High Representative of the Mormons. “The faithful and willful slave is, at best, admired by God’s means of communication,” he writes of himself from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

    9. Don't let your hearing get dull

    10. Always be honest

    14. Clean people honor Jehovah

    15. As Christians, we care about others.

    16. Keep deepening your relationship with God

    17. Praise God with everything we have

    Shri Mataji Nirmala Nine is mentioned as a Hindu Goddess, David Koresh again for the Lamb of God, Sun Myung Moon for the Messiah and Jim Jones for God's heir on Earth. It goes without saying that these authoritarian tendencies in sectarian communities tend to be less conscious and highly rationalized, and therefore often hidden behind reactions that give the impression of great kindness and deep interest in other people. Some of the most commonly used rationalizations are, for example: "I control you because I know what's best for you."

    18. Is Jehovah your stronghold?

    19. Is it possible to know the future?

    20. Is it time for God to rule the world?

    23. Life has meaning without a doubt

    24. What God's Rule Can Bring Us

    25. Resist the spirit of this world

    26. Are you important to God?

    Or: “God is so amazing and unique that he has the right to expect people to become dependent on Him” or “Already for you” has done so much that he has the right to ask you for obedience. Claiming absolute power in all walks of life really makes for a sparkling brilliance. But how a group acquires new members and what happens to them during their membership determines whether the group uses mind control or mind programming techniques. We will discuss this in detail.

    The history of hypnosis is very old. The sciences describe auto-hypnotic states, and in India and Tibet the art of auto-hypnotic states is still great. He can easily recognize that in our conditions it is often not what in many sects is called "meditation", nothing but the process by which a member of the community is put into a hypnotic trance, which allows his proposal to be transmitted, which makes him much more open to subsequent suggestion. In addition to groups with an Eastern Hindu-Buddhist background, similar methods are used by cults who claim to be "psychotherapists" in various forms of group or individual sessions.

    31. Happy, despite the hunger - how is this possible?

    32. How to deal with the worries of life

    33. What lies behind the spirit of disobedience?

    34. Are you "marked" for salvation?

    In our country it would be especially Dianetics who are highly suspected of abusing this practice, regardless of the fact that Scientologists clearly hypnosis as a psychotherapeutic method of scum. For those who practice professional hypnosis, or who have just experienced several hypnosis sessions, no further comment is needed. It is also important that Scientologists do not call these states of mind "remembering" but "returning."

    In similar states of altered consciousness, however, some people have also been mentioned during mass ecstatic Pentecostal gatherings and understood by their fellow psychiatrists, who in this context is considered to be a highly suggestive phenomenon of "falling under the power of the Spirit" which is when these mass induction gatherings. The symptoms described by the two girls were strange: they couldn't sleep, they couldn't concentrate on anything, and they constantly fainted.

    35. Can you live forever? And will you?

    36. Real life - is that all?

    39. Be confident in God's victory!

    40. What is coming in the near future

    41. "Stand, stand and look at the salvation of the Lord"

    42. How God's Kingdom Affects You

    The trouble disappeared after a few months, not by psychiatric intervention, but - like a beautiful bead - by giving the sacrament of anointing to a sick Catholic priest. By the way, being in a trance is a pleasant experience and a very relaxing experience, so people usually want to go into these conditions as often as possible. Independently of each other, however, it is evident that these conditions drastically reduce the ability to critically evaluate facts and allow interference in the human psyche of opinions, experiences and decisions that are essentially alien, even if the person is experiencing at the moment as his own.

    43. Are you doing what God requires of you?

    44. Keep Seeking God's Kingdom

    45. Walk the path that leads to life

    46. Keep your confidence strong until the end

    47. "Believe in the Good News"

    48. Endure the Test of Christian Faithfulness

    49. Purified land - will you see it?

    50. How do you make decisions?

    51. Does the truth change your life?

    Sometimes, in the context of hypnosis, I am asked about the influence of the Great Mantra Hare Krishna or its multiple repetition. Why, after all, the members of Hare Krishna themselves prescribe samadhi, the highest level of altered consciousness, induced in particular by the constant and numerous repetitions of mantras, as a "spiritual trance." That this is transnational hypnosis, in which the repetition of a mantra acts as a hypnotic factor and keeps him at this stage for a long time, seems certain.

    The term "double thought" is taken from Orwell's novel by Milton Rokeh, illustrating it in the following way: In our Everyday life we find many examples of dualistic thinking; we reject violence, but we also believe in its justification under certain conditions; we have confidence in the judgment of the common man, but at the same time we believe in the falsification of the masses; We are for democracy for all, but at the same time we are for the power of the intellectual elite; we believe in freedom for all, but at the same time we believe that certain groups should be limited; we declare that science does not make absolute judgments, but at the same time we recognize good scientific theories from bad theories, a good experiment from a bad experiment.

    52. Who is your God?

    53. Is your way of thinking in line with God's?

    54. Strengthen faith in the Creator of man

    55. What reputation do you deserve with God?

    56. Into the new world under the guidance of Christ

    57. Enduring persecution

    58. How to serve God?

    59. What you sow, so shall you reap

    60. How purposeful is your life?

    Such expressions of apparently contradictory statements should be considered as one of the indicators of isolation in the belief system. Let me briefly mention a few illustrative examples of "doublethinking" also with sects, here in particular with Jehovah's Witnesses.

    For example, Jehovah's Witnesses state that priestly celibacy in the Roman Catholic Church is condemned because it is a relic of the priestly practices of the pagan cults of Egypt and Babylonia. At the same time, however, the organizations themselves claim that they are highly valued by those Jehovah's Witnesses who, with reference to the chapter of the First Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians, have decided not to do or give full attention to the service of Jehovah. As you can see, importance for the position of Jehovah's Witnesses in celibacy is not celibacy as such, but only whether the celibacy of priests of the Catholic Church is celibate or Jehovah's Witnesses.

    to be continued...)

    Not every sheep in a tie can become a speaker-speaker. Requires little, but intelligence. Even so, the cat cried a little of the brothers in the assembly, and even fewer who knew how to connect a couple of words at the microphone. Therefore, the meetings exchange Sunday speakers among themselves. A brother invited to speak publicly may live in three days the deer paths are far enough. The inviting meeting at least pays the speaker a trip and a set lunch with compote. What the letter below says:

    In order not to get confused in the 181st pine of speech
    (what the congregation has already heard five times in a row, and what - never),
    The Mother Organization gave the congregation elders the following cheat sheet:

    Not every sheep brother, I repeat, can become a public speaker.
    First you need to complete the course of a young RSD fighter, the so-called School of Theocratic Ministry (link).
    Finished? Well done! On a cracker abstract of speech.
    Go throw *a ram on the fan with your three thoughts-examples on our skeleton.)

    Giving a speech is an advantage in a meeting. Jehovah's Witnesses love, value, and respect their speakers (without fanaticism, of course). The same speech, prepared by different brethren, may sound different. Because speakers use different imagery to illustrate their words:

    Sometimes Bethel shepherds send the following letters to congregations regarding public speaking:

    Sometimes they ask to remove some speech from the repertoire altogether:
    "The public speech "Jealousy: appropriate and inappropriate" is no longer appropriate.
    We kindly ask the secretaries of the meetings to scatter the ashes of this speech at the next meeting"
    )

    I can't find a scan of this letter yet. Was. Where I put it, I don't remember.)
    If I find it, I'll put it in here. Sorry, good people, my sclerosis)

    Well, and on the road:
    The organization does not encourage (read - "tacitly prohibits") the making of audio or video recordings for the distribution of public speeches. For myself, like, you can, but be careful. The reason is simple: today the speaker - true Aryan Jehovah's Witness, and tomorrow, God forbid, of course - an Apostate. And his speech walks around the meetings. It turns out that the sheep are listening to the voice of the traitor OSB. Not good.

    But some naughty rams still shoot speeches on video and then post them on the Internet:

    You can easily find dozens of similar videos on various video hosting sites.
    Well, it seems like he told everything.
