“I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the lands where you are scattered; and I will give you the land of Israel” (Ezek. 11:17).

“I will not do this for you, house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you dishonored among the nations where you came ... And I will take you from the nations. And I will gather you from all countries and bring you to your land” (Ezek. 36:22-24).

“This is a troubled time for Jacob (Israel), but he will be saved from it ... I will save you from a distant country, and your tribe from the land of their captivity, and Jacob will return” (Jer.30: 7-10).

These seven passages, taken from five different books, are typical of the entire Old Testament teaching about the future of the Jews. Anyone, be it a believer or an atheist, will agree that the Old Testament was written before Christ. Therefore, it is perfectly understandable that the prophecies about the future of the Jews were written hundreds of years before they were fulfilled.

The prophecies about the expulsion of the Jews were fulfilled only in the second century after Christ. The prophecies of their wanderings were "fulfilled" from the second to the nineteenth century. All the prophecies about the return of the Jews to their homeland began to be fulfilled only in the twentieth century.

For many centuries - long before the prophecies about the return of the Jews began to be fulfilled - people were surprised at the coincidence of what is said in the Bible with history. It is not surprising that when Frederick II asked his doctor: “What is the proof of the Existence of God?” - he replied: "Jews, Your Majesty."

The good correspondence between the prophecies and their fulfillment is impressive in itself, but some of the points are eerily detailed.

In the first of the passages, Moses says: "And you will be a terror, a parable among all nations."

In the second passage, Moses foretells the desolation of the land of Israel during their wanderings. The assumption is extremely bold. Then it was a prosperous country with fertile fields. If the Jews were to leave their lands, then it would be expected that the invaders would take full advantage of the wealth of the Jews. Was it really so? Here is the testimony of one official chronicler of Israel, describing the period of the exile of the Jews:

“Meanwhile, the land of Israel was sleeping in idleness… Most of the “land with rivers of milk and banks of honey,” as the Bible often speaks of it, became barren. In place of the gardens there were marshes inhabited by malarial mosquitoes, swarming in places that were once flowering valleys.

The third passage also sounds very confident. God will deal with the mighty nations that persecuted the Jews, but little Israel will outlive them. When the mighty Roman Empire destroyed Jerusalem, bringing the state to its feet and enslaving the population, the book of the Old Testament was brought to Rome in triumph. Just imagine how one of the associates of the Roman emperor read the Bible and then said to the most powerful man on earth: “Oh, Caesar, it is foretold here that our great empire will fall, and these dirty Jews will live on.” How the emperor must have laughed! But the incredible prophecy came true.

Let us now return to the sixth passage quoted. It says here that God will return the Jews to their land, not because they become righteous, but in spite of their godlessness. What kind of ordinary writer could write such a thing about his fellow tribesmen with an unshakable hand? But here again, every detail of this prophecy came true. This is evident from the following.

A few years ago I had lunch in Italy with a famous scientist from Haifa in Israel. I asked him how the citizen of Israel felt about these fulfilled prophecies. He chuckled politely, “We don't look at history from a biblical perspective. Most of those who build the State of Israel do so for political and economic reasons, and not at all for religious reasons.”

Why did Hitler lose?

There is another type of prophecy about the Jews that has come true throughout history. A particularly clear example was given to us in recent decades. It's about Hitler and fascism.

In the mid-1930s, Hitler's dream of conquering the world was already in the process of being realized. Summer 1940 everything also went according to plan. All of Western Europe had already submitted to Hitler, and his war machine already seemed invincible.

However, after only five years Nazi Germany ordered to live long, and Hitler himself lay in the courtyard of his headquarters in the form of a charred corpse. What didn't work? Why did Hitler fall when success was so close?

The real answer is very simple, but so unexpected that historians always pass it by. God told Israel:

“They who curse you are cursed; those who bless you are blessed!” (Gen. 27:29; see also Gen. 12:3 and Num. 24:9).

When the Nazis accepted Hitler's plan to wipe out the Jewish nation, they had already signed their death warrant. God warned the world that whoever opposes Israel will oppose God. With the extermination of millions of Jews, the Nazis challenged God himself. No wonder they lost the war!

But the Germans themselves were ashamed of what they had done against the Jews. After the war, the German government decided to somehow compensate for the evil brought to the Jews. At a time when they themselves were barely making ends meet, the Germans acted extraordinarily generously - history did not know such examples.

Imagine a scene in 1945. All of Germany lies in ruins. The flower of German youth has either fallen on the battlefield or is in captivity. The country is bankrupt, the nation is starving. The winners demand indemnity - they have incurred unprecedented costs. The future of Germany is in the darkness of hopelessness.

Yet the West German government decides, despite the desperate plight of its people, to pay hundreds of millions of pounds to the Jews in compensation for their hardships during the war. They did not have to regret their generosity. The country, lying in ruins in 1945, by 1965. became perhaps the richest in Europe.

Hitler learned that God keeps his word: "those who curse you (Israel) are cursed." Post-war Germany learned that God keeps His word: "Blessed are those who bless you."
Everything has a reason

A large number of scientists believe in God. There is a reason for this. Leading American space specialist Dr. Wernher von Braun put it this way:

“One of the fundamental laws of nature is that nothing in the physical world happens without a reason. Creation simply cannot be without some kind of spiritual Creator… Such a perfect creation as our earth and the Universe must have a Creator-designer.”

Even if you do not fully agree with von Braun's conclusions about the existence of God, you must agree with the first sentence. Nothing happens without a reason. This is the fundamental law of any science.

"For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7).

“And if you say in your heart: ‘How can we know a word that the Lord has not spoken?’ If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, but his word does not come to pass and is not fulfilled, then the Lord did not speak this word” (Deut. 18:21,22 ).

It looks as if the Bible told us, “I will prove that I am the Word of God. False prophets cannot predict the future. But a true prophet of God can. Here I will predict the whole history of the Jews.”
