Lesson duration: 1–2 academic hours.

Beginning of the game. The class is divided into three to four teams, depending on the number of students in the class. Teams are given tasks on leaflets, which are replaced by new tasks as they are completed. To search for information, students can use atlas maps, wall maps. As the tasks are completed, the teacher checks the quality of their performance and fills out the scorecard.

1st task. "Question answer". The team receives leaflets with a test, in which four possible answers are given for each question, of which one is correct. For each correct answer - a point. ( Appendix 1).

2nd task. "Sea mail - 1. Parts of the ocean." The team receives sheets of paper with the names of the oceans and a list of ten islands and peninsulas. It is required to correlate the names of the seas and bays with the oceans of which they are part. ( Appendix 2).

3rd task. "Sea mail - 2. Land in the ocean". The team receives sheets of paper with the names of the oceans and a list of fifteen seas and bays. It is required to correlate the names of islands and peninsulas with the oceans that wash them. ( Appendix 3).

4th task. "Rivers in the Ocean". Students are given descriptions of ocean currents, according to which they must determine which currents they are talking about. ( Appendix 4).

5th task. "Connoisseurs of Terminology". Students receive a table, in one of the columns of which the terms are written, in the other - definitions. You need to match the terms with their meanings. ( Annex 5).

6th task. "Sea tides". According to one of the maps of the atlas, it is required to determine the height of the tides at ten sections of the coast of the World Ocean. ( Appendix 6).

7th task. "Sea mail - 3. Currents". The team receives sheets of paper with the names of the oceans and a list of fifteen names of ocean currents. It is required to correlate the names of currents with the oceans in which they are located. ( Annex 7).

8th task. "True False". Students are presented with fifteen statements regarding the characteristics of ocean currents and bottom topography, as well as geographical location parts of the oceans. It is required to choose the correct statements. ( Annex 8)

9th task. “SOS! Save our souls!". Using the skills of determining geographical coordinates, answer the proposed questions. ( Appendix 9).

10th task. "Pirate Letter" The task of the students is to decipher the mysterious letter and determine what it is about. And the ordinary Russian alphabet will help in this. ( Annex 10).

11th task. "Devices". Students receive a table, in one of the columns of which the names of meteorological and hydrological instruments are recorded, in the other - a description of these instruments. It is required to correlate the description of these devices with their names. ( Appendix 11).

12th task. "Water masses - 1". AT short descriptions– information about water oceanic masses formed at different depths. It is required to determine the types of water masses. ( Appendix 12).

13th task. "Water masses - 2". In brief descriptions - information about the water ocean masses formed in different latitudes. It is required to determine the types of water masses. ( Appendix 13).

14th task. "Names on the map". Based on brief descriptions, determine the names of which sailors are parts of the oceans. ( Annex 14).

15th task. "All colors of the rainbow". According to the description, determine what object of the World Ocean is in question. ( Annex 15).

16th task. "Canals and Straits". In brief descriptions - information about the straits and channels. It is required to determine what object of the World Ocean is in question. ( Annex 16).

17th task. “Water, water…”. Students receive tasks that require knowledge of what salinity is, a unit of measure for salinity, and the ability to think logically. ( Annex 17).

18th task. "Currents in the Ocean". Students answer questions about the direction of currents, the role of ocean currents in the redistribution of heat, human influence on environment. (Appendix 18).

Summarizing. At the end of the lesson, the results of the game are summed up, and the winning team is announced. All members of the winning team are rated “excellent”. Members of the second-placed team are rated “good”. For the rest of the teams, I invite them to name 3-4 people from the team who, in their opinion, have made the greatest contribution to the work of the team, and give them “excellent”.

Note: the proposed volume of tasks may not be within the power of classes with a weak degree of learning. In this case, it is possible to vary the number of tasks and their volume.

I use the materials of this lesson to conduct a round-the-world trip for the entire parallel of the 7th grade. In this case, tables and chairs are installed in the classroom and in school recreation, colorfully designed station names are reinforced, students are given route sheets. Teams (5-6 people from each class) move from station to station, where coordinators from the upper classes evaluate their answers. ( Annex 19).
