(1) Katerina Ivanovna never complained about anything, except for senile weakness. (2) But I knew from a neighbor and from the stupid kind old man Ivan Dmitriev, the watchman at the fire shed, that Katerina Ivanovna was alone in the world. (3) Daughter Nastya has not been coming for the fourth year now - she forgot, therefore, her mother, and Katerina Ivanovna has only a few days. (4) The hour is not even, and she will die without seeing her daughter, without caressing her, without stroking her blond hair of “charming beauty” (as Katerina Ivanovna spoke of them).

(5) Nastya sent money to Katerina Ivanovna, but even that happened intermittently. (6) No one knows how Katerina Ivanovna lived during these breaks.

(7) Once Katerina Ivanovna asked me to take her to the garden, where she had not been since early spring, weakness did not let her.

(8) - My dear, - said Katerina Ivanovna, - do not exact from me, from the old one. (9) I want to remember the past, finally see the garden. (10) In it, as a girl, I read Turgenev. (11) Yes, and I planted some trees myself.

(12) She dressed for a very long time. (13) She put on an old warm cloak, a warm scarf and, holding tightly to my hand, slowly descended from the porch.

(14) It was already evening. (15) The garden flew around. (16) Fallen leaves prevented walking. (17) They crackled loudly and moved underfoot, a star lit up in the green dawn. (18) Far above the forest hung the sickle of the month.

(19) Katerina Ivanovna stopped near a weather-beaten linden tree, leaned her hand on it and cried.

(20) I held her tightly so that she would not fall. (21) She cried like very old people, not ashamed of her tears.

(22) “God forbid you, my dear,” she told me, “live to such a lonely old age!” (23) God forbid!

(24) I carefully led her home and thought: how happy I would be if I had such a mother!

Athanasius Fet
Another May night

What a night! On everything what bliss!
Thank you, native midnight land!
From the realm of ice, from the realm of blizzards and snow
How fresh and clean your May flies!

What a night! All the stars to one
Warmly and meekly look into the soul again,
And in the air behind the song of the nightingale
Anxiety and love spread.

Birches are waiting. Their leaf is translucent
Shyly beckons and amuses the gaze.
They tremble. So maiden newlywed
And her dress is joyful and alien.

No, never more tender and incorporeal
Your face, O night, could not torment me!
Again I go to you with an involuntary song,
Involuntary - and the last, maybe.
Retarded clouds are flying over us
Last crowd.
Their transparent segment melts gently
At the moon crescent.

Spring reigns mysterious power
With stars on my forehead. -
You gentle! You promised me happiness
On a vain land.

Where is happiness? Not here, in a miserable environment,
And there it is - like smoke.
Follow him! after him! air way -
And fly away to eternity!

personification: (STARS warmly and briefly LOOK into the soul again"), "birches wait, tremble", "the leaf shyly beckons").

metaphor: winter "kingdom"

Epithets: May "fresh and clean", involuntary song, Involuntary - and the last, "translucent leaf."

With one of the main characters of the novel "Fathers and Sons" - Bazarov, we get acquainted already from the first chapters. So far, little can be said about him, it is only known that he is a recent, but good friend of Arkady Kirsanov, the son of a doctor. Eugene is slightly arrogant, calm and self-confident. His whole appearance betrays a considerable mind in him, but he is taciturn. His manners are somewhat careless, especially towards older people - "old romantics", while he knows how to win the trust of "lower people", that is, peasants. Speaking about his appearance and habits, it can be noted that he is: a man of high stature, with blond hair, hanging sideburns, a thin face, a pointed nose, thin lips and greenish eyes ("a sign of an evil disposition"). He has a habit of waking up early and immediately goes somewhere with a specific purpose, without wasting time. His main professional area is natural science. He treats everything around him critically, negatively, which allows you to see a nihilist in him from the very beginning.

The conflict between reason and feeling is one of the main ones in human life. When feelings overflow, passion does not obey reason - this leads to tragedy. It is difficult to manage emotions, this skill comes with life experience, so thoughtless acts are often committed at a young age. An example of this is the love story of Romeo and Juliet from the tragedy of the same name by W. Shakespeare. This love is severely tested, as the young people belong to the warring families of the Montagues and the Capulets. Young Juliet fell in love with Romeo with all her innocent heart. Knowing that their families are at enmity, she does not understand how the smile, body, heart of her lover can be hostile to her, what danger can come from him. Romeo's feeling is just as pure and ardent. But having killed a relative of Juliet, he is forced to leave the city. Juliet, not wanting to marry Paris, whom she does not love, drinks poison - death is better for her than life without love. Not realizing that this death is imaginary, Romeo also drinks poison - at least so he wants to be with his beloved. And Juliet, waking up from a long sleep, now accepts a real death, because she understands that Romeo died, not wanting to betray their love. If young people had enough life experience, they could find a way out of this situation, but feelings guided their actions . And this led to tragedy.

In which variant are all the numbers correctly indicated, in the place of which commas should be in the sentence?

The era (1) that began (2) after the discoveries of Galileo Galilei (3) and ended with the work of Isaac Newton (4) marked a new stage in the development of science and technology.

1) 1 2) 2, 4 3) 1, 3 4) 1, 4

Before punctuating, you need to do parsing suggestions. First we find the main members of the sentence, and then the secondary ones.
Grammar basis: marked the stage- predicate (compound nominal), era- subject. More about the main members of the proposal.

Secondary members of the sentence: (indicated which stage?) new- definition, (stage in what?) in development- addition, (in the development of what?) science and technology- homogeneous additions, (what era?) and - two homogeneous definitions expressed by participial phrases connected by the union And. As already noted in the previous task, if the union And connects two homogeneous member, a comma is not placed before the union, i.e. no comma is needed in place of the number 3.
If a participial stands after the word being defined, then it is separated from both sides by commas. In the above sentence, the word being defined (epoch) is in front of the participial phrases ( started after the discoveries of Galileo Galilei and ending with the work of Isaac Newton), therefore, we must highlight the participial turnover with commas (in place of the numbers 1 and 4).
