At least that's what some conspiracy theorists believe. Chemtrails or chemtrails are what they call contrails behind a flying aircraft. Recently, for the first time, scientists have scientifically explored everything that is hidden under this theory.
To do this, Christina Shearer of the University of California at Irvine presented 77 eminent atmospheric researchers with the data that proponents of the theory cite as evidence. 49 experts had to evaluate and characterize the appearance of various contrails in photographs, 65 scientists studied the chemical analysis of the composition of the air.
Among the evidence and evidence for the chemtrail theory, its proponents often point to the fact that contrails sometimes stay in the sky for too long, among other things. According to proponents of the theory, they should disappear much faster if they really were simple aircraft exhaust. In addition, supporters of the chemtrail theory point to an increased amount of strontium, barium and aluminum in snow and water samples, which implies that the population is being systematically poisoned.
Who paid for the research?
The study is the result of a collaboration between the Carnegie Institute of Science at Stanford, the University of California, Irvine, and Near Zero, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing pollutant emissions.
Do contrails last longer today than they did at the start of the era of flight?
"The study is mainly aimed at those people who have not yet decided whether or not to believe in the chemtrail theory," the researchers wrote in the journal Environmental Research Letters. Of all 77 experts, according to their own statements, only one of them found some indication of the presence of chemtrails.
Among 49 contrail experts, only 18 (37 percent) people confirmed that contrails remain in the sky longer today than at the beginning of the flight era. However, they reasoned, among other things, aircraft nowadays fly much higher and have more modern and more powerful engines. They release much more water vapor into the atmosphere. 23 experts (47 percent) did not agree at all with the main statement, the remaining eight experts did not give a clear answer.
When analyzing images of the four contrails that the conspiracy theorists use as evidence for their claim, the researchers also found no evidence of chemtrails.
How do such unusually thick inversion plumes appear?
So, for example, one of the pictures (see below) shows three contrails: one is thick and long and two are thinner and shorter. According to chemtrail theory, the differences arise because planes release chemicals at different lengths and intensities. Researchers interviewed found other explanations.
As explained by the experts, thicker streaks may form in areas of the atmosphere with more moisture. Others have argued that the footprints have such appearance due to the fact that the plane flies at a higher altitude. In addition, contrails, according to the researchers, are likely represented by different types of aircraft with different engine power.
Unusual indicators of barium in the atmosphere
Also, the atmospheric chemists interviewed, in their own words, did not find any evidence in their practice that speaks in favor of chemtrails. Only one of the researchers reported that he had come across an unusually high level of barium in the atmosphere sometime in a remote area. But evidence that the level of barium in the atmosphere was increased due to chemtrails, the scientist did not find.
Instead, researchers are questioning the basic methods of chemtrail theorists. An online statement on how best to collect water or snow samples to prove increased chemical levels states, for example: It is important to always collect some sediment along with the sample, i.e. deposits from the ground. "The sediments are naturally rich in trace metals. The concentration of chemicals in the sediment is not indicative of the composition of the overlying water," the researcher commented.

The chemtrail theory estimate suggests that the values of all three substances studied are well above the usual limits.
The expert debunked the conspiracy theorists' claim with just two sentences: "The meanings are the same for all normal indicators soil or desert dust. The maximum permissible concentrations indicated are not relevant and, apparently, were taken from the normative maximum permissible concentrations for drinking water,” he wrote. Indeed, in the analysis, maximum permissible concentrations of drinking water were established as a reference. They are one of the most stringent, since drinking water should not contain practically any impurities.
"Changes in aircraft design could have caused contrails to stay in the sky longer, and industrial development contributed to increased particulate emissions in some regions," the researchers write. "But focusing on a possible, secret, large-scale chemical program can easily divert public attention from the real environmental problems that need to be addressed immediately."
The study, however, has one weakness: since the experts interviewed knew what they were talking about, they could provide very specific desirable answers.
Not so long ago, the public started talking about such a phenomenon as chemtrails. According to conspiracy theorists, contrails left by planes in the sky can be a real weapon of mass destruction. It was first mentioned in the USA. Later, residents of other countries began to carefully peer at what was happening in the sky.
The idea of chemtrails came up in the article "Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025". 11 years later, Louisiana state television reported a checkered sky and an overestimated concentration of barium - 6.8 parts per million (three times the MAC). But then I had to take the words back (the concentration turned out to be a thousand times less, 6.8 billionths). However, it was this that propagated the theory to the general public.
Conspiracy theorists consider the main argument confirming their theory to be the fact that the condensation trail from an aircraft flying on high altitude, visible for about 10 minutes. To one sprawling footprint, another one is added, another and another, and the sky is covered with a white haze, through which the sun barely breaks through. Chemtrail tracks can stay in the air for several hours. Already at sunset, their stripes take on a bright pink color.
Another sign by which chemtrails can be identified is the bitterness in the mouth that occurs after spraying.
There is also an opinion that chemtrails are an element of climate weapons. As evidence, many photographs and eyewitness accounts of weather changes after the "grids" in the sky are cited.
Of course, I did not discover America by digging on the Internet. However, I found a lot of interesting things. The question itself is worthy of discussion.
In mid-2012, the Kultura TV channel showed a documentary film about global warming, with the participation of the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an expert in the field of climatology, Israel Yu.A. Israel said that spraying aerosols (ie chemtrails) into the atmosphere is just a way to combat global warming.
As you may have understood yourself, such a statement did not calm the majority of those concerned, but only aroused interest in what was happening. So, the stripes in the sky really carry a certain task.
“The Americans came up with such a thing as “geoengineering” - this is an artificial influence on the climate in order to change it. We are silent about this, especially in the media. One area of geoengineering deals with climate change with the help of atmospheric aerosols. The only public document that talks about the use of atmospheric aerosols is US Pat. No. 5,003,186 Welsbach Stratospheric Seeding. The purpose indicated in the patent is the fight against "global warming". The authors propose in the stratosphere, around our planet, to create a layer reflecting the sun's rays using sputtered metal nanoparticles. According to scientists, this will reduce the heating of the planet by the sun, ”says Oleg Likhachev, an activist in the movement against artificial climate change and the spraying of toxic chemicals in the atmosphere.
Such a version, in his opinion, is absurd.
“I believe that this is just a cover, misleading the public about the real goals of atmospheric spraying. Yes, and judge for yourself - spray aircraft burn thousands of tons of aviation fuel, huge volumes of carbon dioxide and other combustion products are released into the atmosphere, which leads to the release of huge amount heat. And all this in order to fight "global warming" and "greenhouse gases" with the help of a planetary aerosol reflective screen. Where is the logic and common sense here?!”
The formation of a contrail, in particular containing aerosols, according to Likhachev, does not always occur. This is due to a common factor that combines certain values of temperature, humidity and pressure of atmospheric air, as well as the direction and speed of the wind. Due to the inhomogeneity of the atmosphere caused by a change in these parameters, a phenomenon such as the disappearance of a plume can be observed. Then he reappears. It often happens that the contrail does not appear at all, but if you look closely, you can see that the atmosphere becomes noticeably cloudy. The sky is still cloudless, but visibility is reduced by several orders of magnitude.
Likhachev also draws on an article published in the United States dating back to 1996. "Weather as a force multiplier: conquering the weather by 2025". The purpose of the report is to Modernize the Air Force in order to maintain the overwhelming superiority of the United States in air and space in the future. Based on this report, we can imagine the following scheme for the use of climate weapons:

1. The whole planet is divided into zones where satellites monitor the weather and, where possible, ground-based sensors.
2. The Pentagon receives a weather forecast for the country where the punitive operation is to take place in a matter of minutes.
3. In a special center, military climatologists, according to these data, choose how it is more convenient to “punish” the enemy: arrange a flood or a drought.
4. The necessary reagents are loaded into the plane, and at hour "X" it processes the atmosphere over the victim country.
5. Some substances will intensify the downpour, others will cause drought.
According to the concept, aerosols are a real weapon. Climate anomalies are a huge force that destroys everything in its path. It remains only to subjugate it to yourself by introducing your own element, with the help of which the ability to control it will appear. Likhachev breaks down his theses into several points.
1. Today the whole planet is divided into zones - possible theaters of military operations. Combat operations are carried out by the command responsible for this zone, and the preparation of weather data for these operations is carried out by operational weather squadrons (OWS). The forecast for Europe, Russia, Ukraine and African countries is carried out by 21 OWS (Operational Weather Squadron).
2. The US military weather service collects weather data around the clock from satellites and from the worldwide weather network, which includes Roshydromet. The volume of weather data is about 1 terabyte of information per day. The forecast is made every day.
3. According to the operational weather conditions, the time of the strike is selected.
4. The concept says that combat aircraft strike by spraying aerosols in the airspace of their enemy, but this is completely unrealistic if he has air defenses. The aerosols necessary for this are constantly sprayed by aviation in the atmosphere of our planet, and there is no longer any need to send combat aircraft. At hour "X", a radar complex (of the HAARP type) and reflector satellites of the strike force are directed to a given area. This system energizes the sprayed aerosols and creates a powerful cyclone that strikes the victim country.

After the explosion of a volcano in Iceland, all of Europe was shrouded in smoke, which naturally created a climate anomaly on the continent. And after that, an oil well was blown up in the Gulf of Mexico, which caused an ecological catastrophe not only in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf Stream carried this oil across the Atlantic and the oil film covered vast areas.
All this led not only to the death of many inhabitants of the ocean, but also disrupted the water exchange in the atmosphere. The cyclone generator stopped, the Gulf Stream collapsed. As a result, there was a flood in Europe and heat in Russia. Colossal economic damage and numerous casualties among the population have been inflicted. Experts say that such a long blocking anticyclone in Russia in 2010 was also kept with the help of the HAARP system.

After reading the above opinion, I came across another - absolutely the opposite.

2. A track with sprayed poison, unlike a “normal” track, can hang in the air for hours without dissolving. Especially often such traces can be seen in the morning, because (according to the position of TX) they are sprayed at night so that no one sees.
3. Chemtrail tracks form a grid in the sky - this is done in order to reliably spray the chemical without missing a single square of the ground.
In order to understand these processes, we will analyze the following important phenomenon like a dew point.
Contrary to popular belief that a cloud is filled with water, in fact there is not much more water in it than in a transparent sky. It's just that in it this water from the phase of free molecules passed into the fog phase, in which the molecules "stick" to each other forming an aerosol - a suspension of ultra-small droplets, the weight of which is not enough to push through the viscosity of the air and start falling down. In order for water molecules to pass into the fog phase, we need to lower their energy - then they will stop repelling each other and the formation of an aerosol suspension will begin. This can be done in several ways - for example, by lowering their temperature. Therefore, in the cold, breathing turns into "steam" or a pipe with cold water even in a dry room it is covered with drops of condensate - water, which is not visible at normal temperature, begins to condense in the cold.
The dew point is the temperature below which atmospheric water condenses into fog. The more water saturated the atmosphere, the higher the dew point, and the less air needs to be cooled to thicken the fog. Therefore, moist air from the mouth becomes fog already at zero degrees, and winter outdoor air, not so saturated with moisture, becomes fog at -45C. Its dew point is 45 degrees lower.
As the altitude increases, the air temperature and pressure drop, and at a certain altitude an equilibrium is reached, in which the additional water that has got to the altitude from the engine exhaust instantly cools below its own dew point and turns into a thick fog band, which we see as white footprint in the sky. Just like breathing, cooling down in the cold turns into steam.
Another, more technical example - when leaving a warm garage in the cold, the exhaust of a car, almost invisible in the garage, turns into a white smoky tail. The water contained in the exhaust cools in the cold and also becomes fog. Although the driver at this moment does not press any buttons that inject a secret toxin.
The following picture illustrates the appearance of a contrail when an aircraft reaches flight levels above 9-12 km.
The “turning on” of the track over cities sometimes also occurs because there are restrictions on the minimum height for flying over the city so as not to disturb residents with engine noise. And if the air route above the city increases the height, then reaching the height of the wake formation can happen on this section of the trajectory. Gradually, the equilibrium between the surrounding air and the water in the wake will begin to recover, and the trail will melt. The duration of this process depends on many factors, and first of all (for different traces) - on the content of water and particles of burnt fuel in the exhaust stream, which help the formation of fog, retaining moisture on themselves. Therefore, traces from different aircraft can melt in different ways - due to differences in the composition of the fuel, design and tuning of engines, differences in power and modes of operation.
"Night" traces are thicker and last longer - because at night the atmosphere is more stable and the cloud of condensate is not heated by the sun. That keeps its temperature within the dew point. But as soon as the sun rises and begins to heat up a dense stream of steam - its temperature rises and when it becomes above its own dew point - the trail begins to melt rapidly. In the same way, the fog over the lake melts in the morning, which has been kept all night with a dense cover.
Another reason why nearby planes have different trails is that they are actually flying at completely different altitudes. For example, in the next photo, the distance between the two planes is more than a kilometer. It may seem that planes of different sizes are flying at an extremely dangerous distance, but if you look closely, you can see that these are two Boeing B-767s of different airlines, one goes along the flight level, the second goes much lower than it and climbs or descends.
Under certain conditions, a contrail caused by the cooling of moist air can also occur near the ground, but not from the engines, but from the rarefaction zones that the aircraft creates during takeoff and landing. Entering moist air at a high angle of attack, the wing creates a rarefaction zone behind it, which is immediately filled with warm air. Cooling instantly, it causes the appearance of fog behind the wing and fog streams flowing from the wing. Most often this is observed in tropical latitudes with very high humidity, or in northern latitudes at very low temperatures. Such foggy trails behind the planes are called the “Pandtl-Gloert effect”.
Cloud mesh formation is another popular topic on TX sites. According to TX, these are planes with poison spraying their deadly cargo up and down the sky so that no one gets away from the chemical.
Such a grid is formed at the intersection of two air routes. All air traffic in the world is organized along air routes and air corridors, air routes are tied to route radio beacons, route locators, traffic on them is controlled from air traffic control centers, and traffic density on these routes can reach tens of aircraft per hour. Most often, such routes pass over deserted territories so as not to disturb people with the noise of aircraft, but sometimes air routes and even their intersections are located above populated areas, which gives rise to rumors of sky pollution.
In an hour, up to a hundred aircraft can pass along a major air route in one direction. When two such routes intersect, the intersection takes place at different heights so as not to impede the movement of aircraft and not create emergency situations. Contrails of such a crossing of tracks can form in two different layers of air, where the wind direction is different, and they will begin to be blown to the side. Most of the time, that's exactly what happens.
However, even if the traces lie in one layer of the atmosphere, some will be carried sideways, while others will be along the course, which will also create a "grid".
Exactly the kind that chemtrail sites like to display as indisputable proof of the bad intentions of the conspirators.
Why doesn't it still make sense to spray poisons in the stratosphere? average speed the fall of raindrops is approximately 10-20 kilometers per hour. That is, a liquid poured from an aircraft at an altitude of 10 km would reach the ground in half an hour or an hour. Smaller particles can stay in the air for weeks, just like dust in a beam of light from a window flies around the room without falling to the floor. It is for this reason that the actual spraying of substances from aircraft is carried out with sprayers that produce large drops, and they do this from an extremely low height - so that the chemicals quickly and accurately hit their intended purpose. Spraying poison at a height of tens of kilometers in the form of an aerosol (and only such a trace can stay in the air without falling to the ground) is an absurd exercise, since it will fall on the ground for days and weeks, and during this time it will be carried away by air currents to the other side Earth. Moreover, the very fact that the trace lasts for a long time and does not collapse (namely, TX ranks such traces as especially dangerous) already indicates that the substances remain inside the trace, otherwise it would begin to collapse, and we would see a picture similar to this one.
These are cirrus clouds, they are formed when a weather front "iron" wedges under moisture-saturated air masses and raises them to a height of 10-15 kilometers, into a cooling zone. Atmospheric moisture begins to condense into fog, forming a cloud, and from it into microscopic ice crystals, which begin to fall down. The cloud moves with the wind, and the ice crystals falling down from it form a “falling” trace in the form of a hook. Such clouds accompany the approach of each cold front. And in a similar way it would look like a fall to the ground of substances sprayed at a height of 10 kilometers. However, contrails from aircraft do not have such falling tails.
Separately, the means of spraying the chemical, which conspiracy theorists speak of, are also mentioned.
These photos are often shown with a hint that these are chemical trail spray devices. Even if the tanker drains the fuel from the hoses in flight (and he actually does it after refueling, draining the fuel remaining in the hose), the fuel trail will not hang in the sky for hours, but like any spilled liquid, it will quickly fall to the ground.

This thing really sprays, but not poison, but water on the test aircraft, in order to check how it will be affected by ice freezing on the skin.
Further, the author considers in more detail other "evidence" of the activity of hitmrails. However, I cannot say that I took sides after studying both opinions. The chemtrails themselves are a moot point. But climatic weapons are a very striking fact. The only thing I can say unequivocally is that before stating something, it is worth carefully studying such issues from the point of view of elementary physics, as the last author, whom I brought to you, does. Hypotheses are hypotheses, and science is a stable thing.
