The best mods in the style of Game of Thrones. Best Game of Thrones mods: LEOGAMING Free mod for game of thrones

Winter is coming, and thanks to the work of modders, we can see it with our own eyes in many games.

"A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martina is an excellent material for strategies and RPGs, because this saga has everything we love the fantasy genre for: hundreds of colorful characters, battles and magic, unexpected twists and political intrigues. New season Game of Thrones has already begun (we hope that the sixth book of the series is just around the corner), so it's time to get acquainted with the mods that bring the world of Martin to the expanses of existing PC games.

Crusader Kings 2 - A Game of Thrones

Download

Before us is the perfect symbiosis of the original game and amateur fashion. Developed by enthusiasts, the A Game of Thrones expansion transforms medieval Europe, shown in Crusader Kings 2, to the full-fledged continent of Westeros. A set of random events and your own decisions that directly affect familiar and beloved (or hated) characters eventually turn into known history into a pretty interesting fanfic.

I have already written in detail about this mod several times: in the article "Survival in Westeros" I described the game for Ned Stark, and "Checkers" tells about what it's like to be Littlefinger's neighbor, who every now and then tries to draw you into his political multi-moves .

Mount and Blade: Warband - A Clash of Kings

Download

If you have always wanted to look at the events taking place in Westeros from the point of view of ordinary soldiers, then the A Clash of Kings mod for Mount and Blade: Warband is what you need. This mod adds thousands of new items to the game, battles at sea, a huge map of Westeros, as well as a number of characters known from books and the series. I have already written about my adventures, where I tried to ingratiate myself with the Lannisters and the Baratheons at the same time and faced Gregor Clegane in a duel.

Westeroscraft is a Minecraft server with its own launcher and a unique set of modifications. One day Westeroscraft may become an open world MMORPG, but for now it's in build mode, recreating the continent of Westeros (and someday Essos) in a blocky format. It looks just gorgeous, it is worth noting. Westerocraft is free to join and explore the world, but if you want to help with the build, you need to apply.

Download

Play Civilization 6 as Boltons, Greyjoys, Baratheons, Targaryens, or take on the role of the Night King, leader of the White Walkers. The maps embody the territories of Westeros and Essos and are equipped with landmarks such as Casterly Rock, the Red Keep, the Titan of Braavos and others. There is support for the Gathering Storm add-on (although you need to play as the Night King).

Civilization 5 - A Mod of Ice and Fire

Download

This is one of my favorites - it adds an amazing map of Westeros to the game and allows you to get used to the role of famous kings: Robb Stark (North), Stannis Baratheon (Storm's End), Daenerys and even Mance Raider, who is at the head of the free people. Each faction has its own unique skills, as well as units and buildings.

Total War: Attila - Seven Kingdoms

Download

This global mod for total war: Attila adds more than two dozen armies that can be pushed against each other, recreating memorable events from the fantasy world, and, of course, does not forget about the main characters of the series, who appear at the head of virtual military units.

Medieval 2: Total War: Kingdoms - Westeros: Age of Petty Kings

Download

Age of Petty Kings focuses on events that took place thousands of years before the story is told, yet they strictly follow the canon created by George R.R. Martin.

Ages of Empires 2: HD Edition - War of the Five Kings

Download

This scenario for Age of Empires 2 recreates a massive civil war that broke out in Westeros immediately after the death of King Robert. Eight players can choose one of the factions (Greyjoys, Starks, Tyrells, both Baratheon armies, etc.) and take part in legendary war five kings.

Skyrim - The Game of Thrones Adaptation

Download

At the moment, this mod cannot be played - the old version has been removed, and the new one is undergoing beta testing - but it still deserves attention. In essence, this is an attempt to turn Skyrim into the world of Westeros with the appropriate locations and characters. A very ambitious idea, and we are looking forward to the result. Alas, the release date of the final version has not yet been announced.

The anticipation will help brighten up the trailer below, which, to be fair, looks very impressive.

EDIT 2017-03/09: Update with quote-fix fixing the CTD:s after most battles, UI-image fix fixing CTD:s for Lannisters when they recruit units using these pictures with too large sizes (has been changed) and EDB recruitment done! Got:TW 4.9 - this is the almost complete version of GoT:TW, now with most of the minor house rosters added, all new basic rosters but Dorne fully implemented (due to not having the files), new elites for Boltons & Tullies, new mid-tiers for Tyrells & extras for Freys, unit portraits fixed for most units, removed unused factions from custom battles, new caps/gens for WIP factions, Warhammer animations missing and more - the only thing would be three more minor house rosters, portraits and balance/recruitment, plus a bigger map.

EDIT 2017-03/09: Update with quote-fix fixing the CTD:s after most battles, UI-image fix fixing CTD:s for Lannisters when they recruit units using these pictures with too large sizes (has been changed) and EDB recruitment done!

Before starting the mod for the first time:

ALWAYS remove the rvm-file inside of GoT_Enhanced/data/world/maps/base- Otherwise the mod will CTD when trying to enter the campaign no matter what you do.

When done with the above, and if you want to play the campaign, start a new campaign or load a campaign:

Always start a quick battle/custom battle and exit - then after you have done this ( each time you start the mod) the campaign will start up just fine.

With some factions you don "t need to do this always - but there is a bug and the best way to avoid it is by starting and exiting a quickbattle first.

also, never use "Auto Manage Everything" because that will cause the game to CTD alot for certain factions.

I would say you just need to download and extract this new version, then delete your old GoT_Enhanced-folder and replace it with this new version. It should work that way.

Try to just place the downloaded folder in your mods folder - but make sure it's Medieval II Total War/Mods/GoT_Enhanced and not Medieval II Total War/Mods/GoT_Enhanced/GoT_Enhanced.

Regarding the music submod:

"This is what you need to do to get the awesome music to work:

1 . Buy or download the albums of season 1 to 3.

2. The mod is already compatible with the music- you just have to get the music yourself and follow the instructions under this text - because i couldn't upload the full albums. And this mod is compatible with the full songs of the first three albums.

3 . The game-files are already in their places - just download the music mod for 3.0 in order to get the two songs in that folder, don't touch the textfiles and place the songs in the music folder inside of data/sounds/music.

Create this folder if it doesn't exist.

4 . Place each song of albums 1, 2 & 3 in the music-folder inside of your sounds folder- which is inside the data-folder of your mod.

5 . Remove the "Main Theme"-songs of season 2 and 3, as it is the same as the first song of season 1.

6 . Rename all songs to numbers from number 1 to nr 67. Don"t touch the two songs from the music mod that followed with the download.

7 . To be secure- delete the event.dat and event.idx-files inside of your sounds-folder together with the music.dat and music.idx-files.

Now you"ll have a fully working music submod.".

The presence of hundreds of complex characters, an abundance of battles, personal drama and political intrigue makes the "Game of Thrones" an excellent and almost bottomless source of inspiration for the creators of role-playing and strategy games. So far, there are few projects from professional developers, but craftsmen have created many modifications based on the George Martin saga. Our editors have found and translated into Russian a review of the best copies that will help you pass the time while waiting for new episodes.

Dedicated to medieval intrigues and conflicts strategy from Paradoxinteractive great for creating mods about the fight for the Iron Throne. This modification replaces Europe with Westeros with all the ensuing consequences. The presence of random events and the ability to make your own decisions allow you to rewrite the history of this world in the most unpredictable way. For example, let Robb Stark take over King's Landing and successfully live to a ripe old age.

Mount and Blade: Warband-A Clash of Kings

If you are not attracted by the opportunity to become one of the rulers of the Seven Kingdoms, but want to try yourself as an ordinary warrior on the battlefield, then this development of modders should interest you. They added thousands of different items, naval battles, a huge world map and many significant characters from the cycle. Yes, yes, here you can become under the banner of the main families and even try your luck when meeting with Grigor "Mountain" Clegane.

Civilization 5-A Mod of Ice and Fire

It goes without saying that "Civilization" also could not stay away from modding based on the "Song of Ice and Fire". This work adds a slightly stretched map of Westeros and a corresponding set of factions and leaders. Here you can steer the North as Robb Stark, the Vale as Petyr Baelish, or even the Wildlings as Mance Raider. Each of the civilizations has its own unique unit, building and perk.

Total conversion for one of the latest games in the series TotalWar, which adds almost two dozen playable armies and the ability to recreate the most important battles from the cycle. Recognizable characters from the series are also present here.

Medieval 2: Total War: Kingdoms-Westeros: Age of Petty Kings

The events of this modification unfold a thousand years before the start of the events of the series, when there were several dozen kingdoms on the territory of Westeros that were in a state of almost permanent war.

Skyrim-The Game of Thrones Adaptation

Perhaps the most ambitious development of the entire collection. Its creators plan to transfer the history of the series into a cult role-playing game, add dozens of locations and characters. Work on it is in full swing and there are no exact release dates yet. If folk masters manage to bring everything to mind, then the game claims to be the best mod for Skyrim.

Winter has finally come to Westeros, and the creators of the series decided to postpone filming so that the frame was not artificial, but real snow. The decision is understandable, but it also pretty upsets the fans, because the release of the seventh season will have to wait longer. Yes, and lovers of reading have to get bored: even if Martin promised The Winds of Winter either by April or August, who knows these promises.

However, savvy fans have found a way to pass the time. Instead of boarding up windows in case of White Walker invasions, roasting pigs on fires and dozing at family gatherings, they returned to almost even outdated video games ... By making some, um, certain adjustments to them.

In fact, there are a lot of such mods. Some of them change very little things, some completely reshape the world of the original game, inscribing characters and even huge locations from the PliO into it. However, units of such modifications make us run them again and again.

It doesn't matter if you want to quietly level up your character while exploring the world of Westeros, take part in tough battles for the Iron Throne or cunningly dodge, deceive and manipulate others to achieve your goals - among these mods there is sure to be one that you will like. Perhaps even more than hanging out with a few of Littlefinger's beauties.

7. A Clash Of Kings (Mount and Blade: Warband)

Despite the fact that Westeros and Essos are twice the size of the original Warband map, the creators of the mod managed to completely recreate them inside the game itself. AT Clash of Kings you can customize your character the way you want - you can even choose a background from the PliO universe.

Just choose your banner and start an exciting journey through big world, looking into the villages and cities recreated from the PliO. As you earn reputation and make friends with certain people, you can still swear allegiance to one of the parties or found your own House, taking part in epic battles - but now in the setting of the Game of Thrones.

The mod is still in development, but has already earned wild popularity. And the developers continue to delight us with new missions and intrigues.

Watch out, Cersei, we're on our way to King's Landing!

6. Game Of Thrones Adaptation (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

This mod completely turns the original game on its head. It will allow you to immerse yourself in the amazingly recreated atmosphere of the PLIO - here you will find your favorite characters of the saga, and you will see familiar names, and you can find many small interesting things. The world looks almost the same, and your main task is to destroy the dragons, but the cities and heroes are pretty reworked. And everything is done so convincingly that one can begin to doubt that Bethesda originally created all this.

Forget about the Imperials - the Lannisters rule the roost, and it's not the Stormcloaks that oppose them, but the Starks. At the same time, Solitude was changed so that it can hardly be distinguished from King's Landing - even the Red Castle rises just as majestically. And Winterhold already resembled Winterfell even in its name, but here the developers tried to give even more similarities.

The towers of Valtheim on the banks of the river turned into the Twins - the abode of the Freys. And this is not the limit at all: many cities and locations were added and added, including the Wall, which is completely open for research and, in addition, on which you can find the brothers of the Night's Watch and even meet Jon Snow himself in person.

With this mod, you can not only change the shape or emblems on the shields to those that exist in the world of the Game of Thrones. More importantly, almost any of the more than fifty PLiO characters can become your companion: Robb Stark, Ygritte, Dog... You can even get yourself a direwolf. Or Tyrion - whichever is closer to you.

A new version of the mod is still in development, but the Internet is a wonderful thing. With a little digging, you can easily find old version- also very, very good.

5. Westeros: Total War Enhanced (Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms)

This mod is a little outdated at the moment, but still guaranteed to give you pleasure.

Westeros: Total War Enhanced recreates the world, characters, Houses and even weapons from the "Game of Thrones". And although Total War does not change its habits and remains focused on battles and battles, politics still matters a lot.

Key characters stand up for their respective sides with their name crests on their shields, and no one is forgotten - from the sadistic Boltons to the Wildlings beyond the Wall. In battles, the main thing is strategy, the brutality of the battles is absolutely consistent with the Game of Thrones, and knowledge of books and TV shows gives both victories and defeats a special taste.

4. A Game Of Thrones (Crusader Kings II)

This mod simply had to appear sooner or later. Crusader Kings II fundamentally has a lot in common with the PLiO universe: a single king rules the world, arranges weddings, spectacular executions (sometimes even combined), and influences relationships between families so that decades later your House can prevail over others precisely because of this petty intervention. Intrigues are layered one on top of the other, plans are built within plans - why not the "Game of Thrones"?

This mod adds to the game the lands of Westeros and their rulers who seek power and strength. You can start three hundred years before the events of the first season and continue until the end of the fourth book. This is your opportunity to test your wits in the political intrigues around the Iron Throne... Or follow in the footsteps of the Mad King and destroy everything.

Will you be merciful or will you burn your enemies alive? The choice is yours.

3. Westeros: Age of Petty Kings (Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms)

Unlike previous mods, this one touches on a completely unexplored part of the PliO universe: the history of Westeros thousands of years before the start of the War of the Five Kings. And you can see Westeros fragmented into many small kingdoms that always do not get along with each other, to put it mildly.

In the Reach, where there are still no Tyrells even close, five different nations are fighting among themselves, and at this time, four more compete with each other for power in Dorne. Meanwhile, the conquerors do not sleep and attack from all sides - by sea and because of the ice - intending to subjugate the already blood-drenched Westeros.

The mod not only allows you to see and imagine what Westeros was like before the unification of the lands under the rule of the Iron Throne, but also makes it possible to understand what legends and what moments of history, albeit unobtrusively, but quite often the characters talk to each other.

2. Game Of Thrones: War Of The Five Kings V2

Maud Age Of Empires II HD Edition still in development, but you can already see that it very faithfully depicts the map and political situation of Westeros at the time of the events of the second season of the series or the second book.

Robert Baratheon is dead. While the Lannisters, led by Joffrey, seized control of King's Landing, Renly, Stannis, Robb, and Balon have proclaimed themselves kings and are now fighting in a war for the Iron Throne. Among the Houses there are also Tullys, Tyrells, Arryns ... And there is also the opportunity to send someone to the Night Watch. Admit you want it.

New cities and settlements are constantly being added, and existing ones are being detailed. The developer receives good reviews and continues to improve the mod, but please note that his work is not over yet.

1. A Mod Of Ice & Fire (Civilization V)

A complete game changer. The mod completely copies the world of the Game of Thrones: cities, areas, unions and PliO Houses. The leaders do not have animations, but you will see their faces while talking to them - just like in the original Cilivization. And, of course, each opponent has their own unique tricks.

Want to own the most powerful navy? Well, first you have to outsmart Balon Greyjoy and the warriors. Iron Islands- consummate sailors. They will generally outsmart anyone, unless Khal Drogo and his Dothraki horde set foot on their lands. By the way, be prepared for the fact that Daenerys will send her dragons into battle, so it’s better to prevent their birth in time in principle. Otherwise, you will have to rely on the lord of the Vale, Petyr Baelish, a consummate master of negotiations, alliances, and betrayals.

The barbaric raids of the White Walkers will also cause problems. Well, the greater the satisfaction will be when you destroy their nearby camps. If you succeed.

Of course, unfortunately, they won’t let you explore the world completely freely - there are restrictions. Can't hope you just take down the Lannisters nuclear strike, however, the game is the most fertile ground for spreading the influence of kings and advancing the faith. Religions from Cilivization V are replaced with religions of the world PL&O: Drowned God, Seven, R?Glor… No one will leave offended.

Know of any other awesome mods that we missed out on? Welcome to the comments!
