Here I celebrated the first day of spring by finally getting to the Nikolo-Radovitsky Monastery. Before the revolution, it was a rich, very popular monastery, known since the 15th century. Pilgrims converged there from tens of kilometers away. Yesenin was among them, and casually mentioned the monastery in Anna Snegina..
In the morning, when the alarm clock rang, I had big doubts about whether it was worth rushing somewhere after a sleepless week instead of getting enough sleep. Looking out the window, my doubts only became stronger: during the night the yard was covered with fresh snow, which, it seemed, had no intention of melting. The last nasty thing that happened to me that day was also not long in coming: the front fender that I had bought the day before fell off while loading the bike into the elevator.
It’s amazing what kind of freak could come up with the idea of attaching something to a bike using plastic parts!
Accordingly, all the way I kept washing myself with soggy snow and other joys flying from under the front wheel.
This, however, was the end of my misadventures. At 8:20 I departed from the Kazansky railway station to Fruktovaya station, and from there at just over 11 I drove to the ferry crossing across the Oka. This was also exotic for me: I don’t think I’ve ever used a ferry before.
The ferry crossing in Beloomut exists in two forms. The first is a large “cargo” pontoon, which rarely runs and transports cars across the Oka River for a fee. In the photo above are car enthusiasts waiting for the ferry to arrive.
UPD Now, two years later, my vigilant Beloomut comrades persistently correct me that the ferry is actually free. And it pleases. And this is very important for comrades.
Pedestrians are transported to the so-called. "trough" which is pushed by a small boat. But it's free. While waiting for the “trough”, I learned from the conversations of the locals that the crossing here is not as thorough as in Lovtsy upstream, although Beloomut is a city, and these same Lovtsy, if you believe the map, is a small village. Nevertheless, the crossing there functions, according to locals, with greater consistency. In addition, based on the authentic pronunciation of the word "Catchers", I came to the conclusion that this name did not come from the verb "to catch", but from the name of a female ram. Apparently these Catchers didn’t start out as fishing village, but as a cattle-breeding village.
Finally, a “trough” sailed from the Beloomut shore.
Rules for using the ferry:
Pay attention to how the guy in the orange vest is called in the rules. Neither give nor take Blue Beard, Flint or Francis Drake.
The trough moored to a metal staircase that sloped into the water (according to the locals, there used to be railings on the stairs, but over the winter someone cut them down and stole them away), and the passengers began to load onto the ferry.
Beloomut pleasantly surprised me. The fact is that the look of typical panel blocks really depresses me. If in Moscow I had already come to terms with this, then when leaving it, you expect to see something less gray and dreary. So: Beloomut, according to my feelings, is three-quarters wooden and nine-tenths one or two-story (not counting the bell towers). Very cute, although shabby, wooden houses with attics and balconies on the main street, several churches, in short, if you want to see what a provincial town should look like, this is the place for you. Sorry, I didn't take anything off...
God bless you:
In fact, this is not a parting word for pedestrians, but a wish for travelers leaving Beloomut. Soon after leaving the city I turned onto the road leading to Radovice. Almost all the time she walks among pine forests, passing through several small villages in which the few inhabitants greeted me with pleasure. Finally, I reached Radovice. This is a fairly large village, with a clearly visible trace of its former prosperity.
Tuning:
Sovetskaya Street stretches through the entire village and leads to the monastery. So, the monastery, known since the 15th century, is an architectural monument of federal significance, in the 70s it was a cowshed.
This is how it was once, but now everything is somewhat different. Well, I even consider it unnecessary to warn that after the Nazis there are hardly any less left in Peterhof. After all, we are not children, and no one doubts our abilities...
This is a two-story building in which fraternal cells were located, and in the basement there was a bakery where prosphora was baked. In the background is the bell tower of the Gate Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Construction late XVIII century. Inside the fraternal building there are drops, and every now and then the sound of crumbling pieces of brick.
Jackdaws take up residence in the empty bell tower.
The bell tower once had 13 bells and, apparently, a clock. At least the blackened metal square on the top tier seems to me to be the remains of a dial.
On the other side of the bell tower is the rectory, built in 1805. Now it is surrounded by forests, traces of restoration attempts are visible. The entire monastery brethren, who number, it seems, only a few people, live on the territory of the monastery in a small trailer.
Having passed through the gate under the bell tower, we find ourselves on the main territory of the monastery. Directly in front of us is the main stone church of the monastery - apparently, Nikolsky. Alas, everything was done to ensure that this building ceased to resemble a church, so now only the first floor has survived, and it is in very poor condition, with traces of a fire inside and cracks in the outer walls. I didn't take pictures of this.
There is also this well. One of the corner towers is visible in the background - apparently, this is a building of the 17th century; before, in this very turret, it seems, there was a church in the name of the saints and righteous Godfather Joachim and Anna. Here.
Initially, in the 15th century, the monastery was located on an island in the middle of Lake Saint - where the miraculous image of St. Nicholas. When there was not enough space on the island, the monks moved to the mainland, and the wooden St. Nicholas Church remained in its original place, which was covered with brick in 1879. A bridge was thrown from the monastery to the island, from which the remains of oak piles are now preserved. And on the site of the temple now there is a cross, clearly visible from the road, and that’s all.
At this point I finished my acquaintance with the monastery and went to Yegoryevsk. Along the way, churches were visible in many villages even right from the road varying degrees abandonment, however, is quite ordinary, so I didn’t turn to them. The closer you get to Yegoryevsk, the more cars there are on the road, and although this cannot be called any busy traffic, it still cannot be compared with the 30 kilometers of road from Beloomut to Radovitsa. There, three cars overtook me and the same number drove towards me.
In the suburbs of Yegoryevsk, the former village of Berezhki, I observed the pretentious BEREZHKI HALL HOTEL, charming in its insanity. Shortly before dark I arrived at the Yegoryevsky station. In total, according to the bike computer, it turned out to be 97 kilometers. The first day of spring is beyond satisfying.
