Fomin Alexander Gennadievich

(09.11.1956 - 28.08.1978)
“We met Sasha in 1976. I worked at the Gorky Youth Theater. Chief director of the theater Naravtsevich B.A. invited him to take part in performances. He played in the play "Sunstroke". We became friends. His death was a big blow to me. He was an amazingly bright, “sunny” person, it was impossible to quarrel with him. I came to Murom several times and knew his parents and his younger brother Misha. I saw his nephew, named in memory of Sasha. He was very young then. I also have a son, whom I named in memory of my friend.”
L. Kolosova (Nizhny Novgorod)

A graduate of the Gorky Theater School (1978), a native of the city of Murom, Alexander Fomin starred in one film, “A Dog Walked Along the Piano.” The only role of Mishka Sinitsyn...

The only, but memorable role that he managed to play in a movie, in his such a short life. Great things awaited him
future in both cinema and theater, he was already taken to the Red Army Theater, he could become an excellent lyrical actor.

Film director Vladimir Grammatikov about Sasha: “He had a good masculine quality, he could be a very lyrical hero, but not like Oleg Dal, well, closer to Shukshin, something in between... He was a very deep boy...” The film crew could not believe it for a long time when they learned about the tragic death of Sasha Fomin. But in 2016, Alexander could have turned 60 years old.

Why did fate treat Sasha so unfairly? Because life has different plans, we expect a lot and make plans, but death can have its say, in spite of everything. Alexander Fomin did not even live to see the film's premiere. What about the premiere, he didn’t even have time to start a family...

The tragedy happened immediately after the filming of the film in 1978. Alexander was driving a taxi... The taxi car crashed into a truck, not everyone in the car died, but Sasha’s death was instant... Alexander Gennadievich Fomin was buried in the city of Murom at the Verbovsky cemetery.

Sasha’s parents were simple Murom residents: father Fomin Gennady Vasilyevich, a former pilot, worked at a factory; Mom Valeria Sergeevna also worked at the plant.

The boy’s character and external features were most likely from his mother: gentleness, a positive attitude and kindness were already manifested in unlimited
quantity. As a child, a blond boy with blue eyes ran around the yard with the children, also played mischief and did not stand out in any way.

A memorable event in his life was the year when he turned 12 years old. Together with his cousin, Olga Kravtsova, Sasha went to the performance “Uncle Tom's Cabin”, which was staged by the Moscow Children's Theater in Murom. He did not listen to what his sister, who was 2 years younger than him, was babbling; he was amazed by literally everything: from the acting to the simple scenery on stage.

His first action was visiting the drama club at the House of Culture in the city of Murom. At the same time, problems began with grades at school. Then in the family the father posed the question point blank: Either Sasha is learning to combine studies and theater, or he’s giving up “amateur activities.”

After which, having made the right conclusions, he finally graduated from school. In 1973, Sasha entered the Gorky Theater School.

After graduating from college, Sasha was sent to the city of Sarov, Gorky Region, and almost immediately was invited to shoot the film “A Dog Walked on a Piano” directed by Grammatikov. After filming ended, Sasha went to Murom with a large fee for those times in a taxi. The taxi driver lost control and crashed into a truck. Not everyone died in the car, but Sasha’s death was instantaneous.

This was the end of the short but bright fate of the young talented actor.
