July 22 - the day of the Cypriot Stromynsk Icon of the Mother of God

In the North-East of the Moscow region there is an old Stromyn village. The place that gave its name to the Stromynskaya road - the famous Stromynka, which from ancient times connected Moscow and the cities of Vladimir Russia. As early as the 14th century, Reverend Sergius of Radonezh was founded Assumption Monastery unfortunately not preserved to this day. Today the successor of this monastery is Stromynskaya Assumption Church, where today the holy relics of the disciple of St. Sergius rest - Saint Sava of Stromynsky, as well as one of the greatest shrines of the Moscow region - Stromynsky copy of the Cyprus Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.

“The Cypriot icon of the Mother of God appeared in 392 on the island of Cyprus. For a long time this image stood on the gate leading to one of the churches of the Most Holy Theotokos. hit the knee of the Mother of God. At the same moment, blood flowed from the wound in such quantity that it stained the ground. The Arabian, in horror, rushed to gallop home, but, before reaching the house, he fell dead on the way ... "

One of the most revered lists of this ancient icon in Russia was the Stromynsky image, which was literally preserved by a miracle during the years of Khrushchev's anti-church persecution. At that time, two deeply religious parishioners of the already closed Assumption Church in Stromyn, not afraid of the atheistic authorities, kept this image at home.

Svetlana Kulikova, a member of the Parish Assembly of the Assumption Church, a witness of the salvation of the miraculous icon, told Tsargrad +:

"They persuaded the police to let this icon remain in Stromyn. In a miraculous way. And then she looked for a quiet haven, she had to endure a lot, and she stayed with these two virgins in their dilapidated hut. For 27 years they kept the icon ..."

The Stromynskaya Assumption Church was closed from 1961 to 1988. And it was returned to believers one of the first in the entire suburbs. In what the residents of Stromyn also see a genuine miracle, bestowed by the Most Holy Theotokos through prayers before her miraculous image. Svetlana Kulikova recalls:

"On May 30, 1988, we had the first service. And the icon was transferred to the church quietly so that no one would recognize it. It was at night. And when the first service was on May 30 at the Trinity, it was such rejoicing among the people, there were so many children, so many people It was a revival, it was a joy for all of us, because the Lord gave us His Church as a quiet haven for a tormented world, and we received it: here it is ... "

Since then, the flow of believers to the Stromyn miraculous image has only increased every year. Although even among the Orthodox Christians of Moscow and its environs, not everyone knows about this amazing shrine near Moscow, to which you can turn with a variety of requests and prayers.

Archpriest Alexander Parkhomenko, rector of the Assumption Church in the village of Stromyn, is convinced:

“As it is said in the Gospel, “ask, and it will be given.” And people have something to ask for. exams, and you can see it all on the faces of those who pray, and we, of course, are very happy with all of them and are waiting for everyone to come to our church, we love it when people come to us. the temple was closed, it was hard, people grieved, could not come to the icon, they came secretly to the house where the icon was kept. And now the temple is open, and we hear bells, reading, church singing. And of course, people are very pleased that the anti-church wars, and you can go to church, you can be baptized, you can get married, take communion. This, of course, is a great joy. And all this is visible on the faces of believers, all this is written that people are happy and revere the Mother of God very much. And if this continues , then no enemies and no sanctions will overcome us ... "

And indeed, under the holy omophorion of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Russian land is not afraid of anything. The main thing is that we do not forget to sacredly keep in our hearts the main statement of our statehood - the Orthodox Faith.
