The convenient structure of the publication allows you to quickly find the necessary topics and words, return to what you have already covered and test your knowledge. The book is addressed primarily to primary school students, but will also be useful to secondary school students, teachers and parents.

This Russian-English visual dictionary is an ideal choice for beginners. The site is in Russian, there is a translation for every word, so here you definitely won’t get lost and will understand everything.

Please note: all words are divided into topics, so it will be more convenient to learn them, because the same type of information is remembered faster. The visual material is presented clearly: click on the picture and you will hear the word in English and see its spelling. Above the list of words there are useful buttons “show translation”, which opens the Russian translation of the words, and “download words”, which allows you to save a list of words with translation in pdf format for free.

On the site you can not only view the dictionary, but also actively work with it. So, you can click on the plus sign next to a word to add it to your personal dictionary for study, and then use various exercises to learn it.

2.Dicts.info

Who is it suitable for?: from Beginner level and above.

This English-language visual dictionary resource is easy to navigate, and even beginners can understand it. On the main page, select the topic for which you want to study words. On the tab that opens you will see photographs and English words for them. If you find it difficult to guess what a word means, click on the picture and a new window will open in which you will see the translation of the word into Russian.

Russian translation can be obtained in another way. At the top of the site on a blue background there is the inscription “Picture dictionary language”. In the drop-down list, select Russian, then you will immediately see a picture with a Russian and an English word.

The only disadvantage of the resource is that it does not have voiceovers of words, so we recommend that you simultaneously open the website howjsay.com, where you can listen to the pronunciation of any English word.

3.

Who is it suitable for?: from Elementary level and above.

This is one of the most interesting and practical visual dictionaries of the English language. Learning new words begins as usual: you select a topic, and the window that opens will present pictures with captions in English. Unfortunately, they are not spoken, so use the website above to learn how to pronounce the words correctly.

Once you have reviewed the words on a particular topic, you can practice on the site to help you remember them better. To do this, go to the menu on the left and select one of the types of exercises under the heading “Activities”.

“Flashcards” is a task in which you will need to remember a word by looking at a picture. You can test yourself: when you hover your mouse over the image, the name of the item will appear.

“Fill-in-the-blanks” gives pictures and words in English with the first letter missing. You will need to enter this very letter in a special window. After this, you can check whether you entered the answer correctly by clicking on the “Test your answers” button, or see the answers by clicking on “Show correct answers”.

In “Word Scramble” you will again see pictures and captions, but the letters will be mixed up in the words. You need to form a word from letters and check your answers.

“Stinky Spelling” will help you hone your spelling skills of the words you are learning. You will again be given pictures and words for them, but in the words 1 letter will be written incorrectly. Your task is to spell the word correctly and check your answers.

“Straight Recall” is the most difficult exercise on the site. This time you will only be presented with pictures that you need to sign correctly using the words you have learned.
