Who are the Hyperboreans? History of Hyperborea. Hindus believe that their ancestors lived in Svalbard

Researchers of ancient myths and legends mention the mysterious world - Hyperborea. This country was also called Arctida.

To find its possible location, you need to look at the northern territories of the planet. Hyperborea is a hypothetical ancient continent or a large island that existed in the north of the Earth, in the region North Pole inhabited by a once mighty civilization. The name should be understood as follows: Hyperborea is what is located in the far north, “behind the north wind Boreas”, in the Arctic.

Hyperborea in myths and legends

Until now, the fact of the existence of Hyperborea has not been confirmed, except for ancient Greek legends and the image of this land area on old engravings, for example, on the map of Gerard Mercator, published by his son Rudolf in 1595. On this map, in the center there is an image of the legendary mainland Hyperborea, around - coast of the Northern Ocean with easily recognizable modern islands and rivers.

It should be noted that this map itself gave rise to many questions from researchers. According to the descriptions of the same ancient Greek chroniclers, Hyperborea allegedly had a favorable climate, where four large rivers flowed out of the central sea or a large lake and flowed into the ocean, which is why on the map Hyperborea looks like a “round shield with a cross” (in the picture above).

The Hyperboreans, the inhabitants of Arctida, ideal in their structure, were especially loved by the god Apollo. In Hyperborea there were his priests and servants. According to ancient custom, Apollo appeared in these lands regularly, each time exactly 19 years later.

Maybe some astronomical data will help to understand the essence of the appearance of the Hyperborean Apollo. The lunar nodes return to their starting point in orbit after 18.5 years. Everything celestial bodies in ancient times were deified, the moon in Ancient Greece became Selena, and to the names of many Greek gods, the same Apollo, and also well famous heroes, for example Hercules, a common epithet was added - Hyperborean ...

The inhabitants of the country - the Hyperboreans, as well as the Ethiopians, feaks, lotophages, were among the peoples close to the gods and loved by them. The inhabitants of Hyperborea enjoyed joyful labor with prayers, songs, dances, feasts and general unending fun. In Hyperborea, even death came only from fatigue and satiety with life. The ceremony of interrupting the earthly journey was simple - having experienced all kinds of pleasure and tired of life, the old Hyperboreans, as a rule, threw themselves into the sea.

Wise Hyperboreans possessed a huge amount of knowledge, the most advanced at that time. It was the natives of these lands, the Apollonian sages Abaris and Aristaeus, who were considered both servants and the hypostasis of Apollo, who taught the Greeks to compose poems and hymns, and for the first time discovered the basic wisdom, music, and philosophy. Under their leadership, the legendary Delphic Temple was built... These teachers, according to the chronicle, also owned the symbols of the god Apollo, among which were an arrow, a raven, a laurel with miraculous power.

Pliny the Elder on Hyperborea

The historian of the ancient world Pliny the Elder took the description of the amazing country very seriously. From his notes, the location of a little-known country is almost unambiguously traced. Getting to Hyperborea, according to Pliny, was difficult, but not so impossible. It was only necessary to jump over some northern Hyperborean mountains:

“Beyond these mountains, on the other side of Aquilon, a happy people ... called Hyperboreans, reaches a fairly advanced age and is glorified by wonderful legends ... The sun shines there for half a year, and this is only one day when the Sun does not hide ... from the spring equinox to the autumn. The luminaries there rise only once a year at the summer solstice, and set only at the winter solstice ... This country is entirely on the Sun, with a favorable climate and is devoid of any harmful wind. Homes for residents are groves, forests; the cult of the Gods is managed by individuals and the whole society; strife and all sorts of diseases are unknown there. Death comes there only from satiety with life… There is no doubt about the existence of this people…”

There is another indirect evidence of the former existence of a highly developed polar civilization.

Piri Reis Map

7 years before the first world travel Magellan Turk Piri Reis compiled a map of the world, which marked not only America and the Strait of Magellan, but also Antarctica, which Russian navigators were to discover only after 300 years ... The coastline and some of the details of the relief are presented on it with such accuracy, which can only be achieved aerial photography, and even shooting from space. The southernmost continent of the planet on the Piri Reis map is devoid of ice cover! It has rivers and mountains. To some extent, the distances between the continents have been changed, which confirms the fact of their drift.

A short entry in the diaries of Piri Reis says that he compiled his map based on the materials of the era. How did they know about Antarctica in the 4th century BC? e.?

This fact is curious: in the 70s of the XX century, the Soviet Antarctic expedition was able to establish that the ice shell covering the continent is at least 20,000 years old. It turns out that the age of the real primary source of information is at least 200 centuries. And if so, the conclusion suggests itself: when the map was compiled, there probably existed on Earth advanced civilization, which in such ancient times was able to achieve such incredible success in cartography.

The Hyperboreans could have been contenders for the title of the best cartographers of those times. Fortunately, they also lived at the Pole, only not at the South, but at the North. Both poles in those days were free from ice and cold. The ability to fly, which the Hyperboreans had, according to legend, made it common to fly from pole to pole. Perhaps this can explain why the original map was drawn up as if the observer was in Earth orbit ...

But soon, as we already know, the polar regions were covered with ice ... It is believed that the highly developed civilization of Hyperborea, which died as a result of a climatic cataclysm, left behind descendants - the Aryans, and those in turn - the Slavs ...

In search of Hyperborea

The search for Hyperborea is akin to searches, with the only difference being that part of the land still remains from the sunken Hyperborea - this is the north of present-day Russia. However, some interpretations suggest that Atlantis and Hyperborea are generally the same continent ... To some extent, future expeditions should approach the solution of the great mystery. In the north of Russia, numerous geological parties have more than once come across traces of the activity of ancient civilizations.

1922 - in the area of Seydozero and Lovozero in the Murmansk region. an expedition led by Varchenko and Kondiain took place, which dealt with ethnographic, psychophysical and geographical research. The search engines discovered an unusual manhole that goes underground. The researchers failed to penetrate inside - a strange, unaccountable fear interfered, an almost tangible horror literally rushing out of the black throat. One of the locals said that “the feeling was like being skinned alive!” A collective photograph has been preserved (published in NG-Science, October 1997), in which 13 members of the expedition were photographed next to the mystical manhole.

Upon returning to Moscow, the materials of the expedition were carefully studied, including at the Lubyanka. The fact is that the expedition of A. Barchenko was personally supported by Felix Dzerzhinsky at the preparation stage. And it's the hungriest for Soviet Russia years, immediately after the end of the civil war! As you can see, the expedition had very important tasks. It is now difficult to figure out what exactly Barchenko went to Seydozero for, he himself was repressed and shot, and the materials he obtained were never published anywhere.

In the 90s of the last century, V.N. search here.

These places are truly amazing. To this day, Seydozero evokes awe, or at least respect, among the locals. Just 100-200 years ago, its southern shore was the most honored place of burial in a stone grave for shamans and other respected members of the Sami people. For them, the name Seydozero and the afterlife were simply one and the same. It was even allowed to fish there only one day a year ...

IN Soviet times the zone north of the lake was considered a strategic resource base - large reserves of rare earth metals were found here. Now Seidozero and Lovozero are famous for frequent manifestations of various anomalous phenomena. For example, there are reports of the appearance of the legendary Bigfoot in these places ...

In 1997-1999, in the same place, under the leadership of V. Demin, searches were again undertaken, only this time - the remains of the ancient civilization of Hyperborea. And the news was not long in coming. Expeditions discovered several destroyed ancient buildings, including a stone "observatory" on Mount Ninchurt; stone "road", "ladder", "Etruscan anchor"; strange metal "matryoshka". Several images of a "trident", "lotus", as well as a giant (70 m) rock cruciform image of a man - "Old Man Koivu", known to all local old-timers, were studied. As the legend says, this is the "foreign" Swedish god defeated and walled up in the rock south of Karnasurta ...

But, as it turned out, the “old man Koivu” is made of blackened stones, over which water has been oozing from the rock for centuries. With other finds, everything is not so simple either. Professional geologists and archaeologists are skeptical about the above-mentioned finds, considering them to be nothing more than a play of nature, Saami structures dating back up to several centuries, and remnants of the activities of Soviet geologists in the 1920-30s. But criticism is useful, because it forces researchers to look for additional evidence.

A classic example: Heinrich Schliemann found Troy where it "shouldn't be." To repeat this kind of success, you must at least be enthusiastic. All opponents of Professor Demin just call him over-enthusiastic.

Once the climate of the present Russian North was much more favorable. As Lomonosov wrote, "in the northern regions in ancient times there were great heat waves, where elephants could be born and breed ... it was possible." Perhaps a sharp cooling came as a result of some kind of cataclysm or a slight shift earth's axis(according to the calculations of the ancient Babylonian astronomers and Egyptian priests, this happened 399,000 years ago). But the option with the rotation of the axis "does not work." After all, according to the ancient Greek chronicles, a highly developed civilization existed in Hyperborea only a few thousand years ago, and it was at the North Pole or near it. This can be seen from the descriptions, and these descriptions should be trusted, because it is impossible to invent and describe the polar day exactly as it is visible only at the pole and nowhere else.

Where was Hyperborea located?

If you ask yourself about the specific location of Hyperborea, there is no clear answer, since there are not even islands near the North Pole. But ... there is a powerful underwater ridge, named after the discoverer of the Lomonosov ridge, next to it is the Mendeleev ridge. They actually went to the bottom of the ocean relatively recently - by geological standards. If so, then the inhabitants of the hypothetical Hyperborea, at least some of them, quite had time to move to the current continent in the area of the Canadian Arctic archipelago, the Kola or Taimyr Peninsulas, and most likely Russia, east of the Lena delta. Exactly where, according to legend, the Golden Woman is hidden.

If Hyperborea - Arctida is not a myth, then how to explain the warm climate in a large circumpolar territory? Powerful geothermal heat? A small country may well be warmed by the warmth of gushing geysers (like Iceland), but this will not save you from the onset of winter. And in the messages of the ancient Greeks there is no mention of thick plumes of steam, and it would be impossible not to notice them. But perhaps this hypothesis has a right to exist: volcanoes and geysers heated Hyperborea, and then one fine day they also destroyed it ...

The very word Hyperboreans means those who live beyond Boreas (North wind), or simply - those who live in the North. Many ancient authors reported on the Hyperboreans.
When you read about Hyperborea in the writings of one of the most famous scientists ancient world- Pliny the Elder, you might think that we are talking about a real-life country near the Arctic Circle:

“Beyond these (Ripean mountains), on the other side of Aquilon, a happy people (if you can believe it), called the Hyperboreans, reaches a very advanced age and is glorified by wonderful legends. They believe that there are loops of the world and the extreme limits of the revolution of the luminaries, the Sun shines there, for half a year, and this is only one day when the sun does not hide (as the ignorant would think) from the spring equinox to the autumn.

Modern researchers, however, doubt this, pointing out that the legend of Hyperborea and the Hyperboreans was formed from the myth of Apollo, and, therefore, we can only talk about some imaginary country where everything is better and more correct than ours.
The fact that ancient Hyperborea was rather a fiction and a kind of utopia is also indicated by the presence of a huge number of absolutely fantastic details. Timagen said that in Hyperborea it rains with copper drops, which are collected and used as coins. Hecateus reports that the Moon in Hyperborea is at a very short distance from the Earth, and some protrusions of the Earth are even visible on it. The satirist Lucian adds to the already existing picture a few amazing touches:

“I considered it absolutely impossible to believe them, and, however, as soon as I first saw a flying foreigner, a barbarian - he called himself a Hyperborean - I believed and was defeated, although I resisted for a long time. And what, in fact, was left for me to do when, in front of my eyes during the day, a man was rushing through the air with me, treading on the water and slowly walking through the fire? - Did you see this? - I asked, - did you see a Hyperborean flying and standing on the water? - Still, - answered Cleodemus, - the Hyperborean even had ordinary leather shoes. It’s not worth talking about the little things that he showed - how he made love desires, called on spirits, called the long-buried dead, made even Hekate visible and brought down the moon from the sky.

The flights of the Hyperboreans are quite often found in materials that are associated with the legend of the land of Apollo. This allowed modern paleo-fictionists to conclude that the people of Hyperborea at least possessed aviation technology. For some reason, these figures do not leave the ancient Greeks (and especially the satirist Lucian!) the right to invent and forget that Hellenic mythology is downright teeming with flying creatures that do without any technology.

In Soviet Russia, the belief in the existence of North Atlantis was supported by a scientist with occult inclinations Alexander Vasilyevich Barchenko.
In 1920, Barchenko was invited to make a scientific report The spirit of ancient teachings in sight modern natural science at the conference of the Petrograd Institute for the Study of the Brain and Mental Activity (Institute of the Brain). There fate brought him to another wonderful and the most talented person, Academician Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev.
On January 30, 1920, at a meeting of the Scientific Conference of the Institute, on the proposal of Academician Bekhterev, Alexander Barchenko was elected a member of the Scientific Conference on Murman and sent to Lapland to study the mysterious disease meryacia, which most often manifests itself in the Lovozero region.
Lovozero is located in the very center of the Kola Peninsula and stretches from north to south. Around - tundra, swampy taiga, in some places - hills. In winter, a deaf and icy reigns here. polar night. The sun doesn't set in summer. Life glimmers only in small villages and camps where the Lapps live. They live by fishing and herding deer.
It is here, in this frozen desert region, that an unusual disease is common, called meryation (or Arctic hysteria). They get sick not only natives, but also newcomers. This is a specific state similar to mass psychosis, usually manifested during the celebration of shamanistic rites, but sometimes it can also arise completely spontaneously. Amazed by the measurement, people begin to repeat each other's movements, unconditionally carry out any commands.
Russian scientists, including Vladimir Bekhterev, paid attention to measuring at the end of the 19th century. The publications about the strange disease that appeared from time to time may have been known to Barchenko as well. In any case, he accepted Bekhterev's tempting offer without hesitation.
Barchenko stayed in the North for about two years. He worked at a biological station in Murman - he studied seaweed with the aim of using them as feed for large and small cattle. Conducted work on the extraction of agar-agar from red algae. He held the position of head of the Murmansk Maritime Institute of Local Lore - studied the past of the region, life and beliefs of the Lapps. This became part of the preparation for the expedition deep into the Kola Peninsula.
This expedition, equipped on the initiative of the Murmansk Gubekoso (Provincial Economic Conference), began in August 1922. Three of his companions took part in it together with the scientist: his wife Natalya, secretary Yulia Strutinskaya and student Lidia Shishelova-Markova, as well as reporter Semenov and astronomer Alexander Kondiain (Kondiaini), who also came from Petrograd, who also represented the Society for World Studies.
The main objective of the expedition was to survey the area adjacent to the Lovozero churchyard, inhabited by Lapps or Saami. Here was the center of Russian Lapland, almost unexplored by scientists.
Already at the very beginning of the expedition, during the transition to Lovozero, its participants came across a rather strange monument in the taiga - a massive rectangular granite stone. Everyone was struck by the correct shape of the stone, and the compass also showed that it was oriented to the cardinal points. Later, Barchenko found out that although the Lapps profess the Orthodox faith without exception, they secretly worship the sun god and make bloodless sacrifices to stone blocks-menhirs, in Lappish - seids.
Having crossed Lovozero in a sailing boat, the expedition moved on towards the nearby Seydozero, which was revered as sacred. A straight clearing cut in the taiga thicket, overgrown with moss and small shrubs, led to it. At the top of the clearing, from where a view of Lovozero and Seydozero simultaneously opened, there was another rectangular stone.
Alexander Kondiain wrote in his diary:

“From this place, on one side in Lovozero, an island is visible - Horn Island, on which only Lappish sorcerers could step. There were deer antlers. If the sorcerer stirs his horns, a storm will rise on the lake. On the other side, the opposite steep rocky shore of Seydozero is visible, but on these rocks a huge figure, the size of St. Isaac's Cathedral, is quite clearly visible. Its contours are dark, as if carved in stone. Figure in padmaasana pose. In a photograph taken from this shore, it could be easily distinguished.

The expedition members spent the night on the banks of the Seydozero in one of the Lappish tents. In the morning they decided to swim up to the cliff in order to better examine the mysterious figure, but the Lapps flatly refused to give the boat.
In total, the travelers spent about a week at Seidozero. During this time, they became friends with the Lapps, and they showed them one of the underground passages. However, it was not possible to penetrate the dungeon, since the entrance to it was blocked by earth.
Pages from the Astronomical diary of Alexander Condiain have survived to this day with a story about one day of the expedition, which deserves to be quoted in its entirety:

“10/IX. Old men. Against a white, as if cleared background, reminiscent of a cleared place on a rock, a gigantic figure stands out in Motovskaya Bay, reminiscent of a person with its dark contours. Motovskaya Bay is strikingly, grandiosely beautiful. One must imagine a narrow corridor 2-3 versts wide, bounded on the right and left by giant sheer cliffs, up to 1 verst high. The isthmus between these mountains, which ends the lip, is overgrown with a wonderful forest, spruce - luxurious, slender, high, up to 5-6 fathoms, dense, like a taiga spruce. Around the mountains. Autumn painted the slopes interspersed with larches with spots of gray-green color, bright bushes of birch, aspen, and alder.
The sun illuminated the bright picture of northern autumn. There were 2 vezhas on the shore, in which the Lapps live, moving out to fish from the churchyard. There are about 15 of them, both on Lovozero and Seydozero. We, as always, were warmly received, treated with dry and boiled fish. After the meal, an interesting conversation ensued. By all indications, we are in the most living environment gray life. Lapps are quite children of nature. Wonderfully combine in themselves Christian faith and old beliefs. The legends we have heard live a vibrant life among them. They fear the old man and revere him.
They are afraid to talk about deer antlers. Women can't even go out on the island - they don't like horns. In general, they are afraid to reveal their secrets and speak with great reluctance about their shrines, pleading ignorance. An old sorceress lives here, the wife of a sorcerer who died 15 years ago, whose brother, still a very old man, sings and performs shamanism on Lake Umb. They say about the able old man Danilov with reverence and fear that he could heal diseases, send damage, let the weather go, but he himself once took a deposit from the Swedes (or rather, Chud) for deer, cheated buyers, i.e., turned out to be, apparently , a stronger sorcerer, sent madness on them.
The current Lapps are of a slightly different type. One of them has some Aztec features, the other is Mongol. Women - with prominent cheekbones, a slightly flattened nose and wide-set eyes. Children differ little from the Russian type. The local Lapps live much poorer than the Undine ones. Many offend them, both Russians and Izhemtsy. Almost all of them are illiterate. Gentleness of character, honesty, hospitality, a purely childish soul - this is what distinguishes the Lapps.
In the evening, after a short rest, I went to Seydozero. Unfortunately, we got there after sunset. Giant gorges were covered with a blue mist. The outlines of the Old Man stand out against the white background of the mountain. A luxurious path leads to the lake through the taibola. Everywhere there is a wide road, it even seems that it is paved. There is a small hill at the end of the road. Everything suggests that in ancient times this grove was reserved, and the elevation at the end of the road served as an altar-altar in front of the Old Man.
The weather was changing, the wind was picking up, the clouds were gathering. We should have expected a storm. At 11 o'clock I returned to the shore. The noise of the wind and rapids of the river merged into a general noise in the midst of the approaching dark night. The moon rose over the lake. The mountains were dressed in a charming wild night. Approaching the vezha, I frightened our hostess. She mistook me for the Old Man and let out a terrible scream and stopped in her tracks. Forcefully calmed her down. After dinner, we went to bed as usual. Luxurious northern lights lit up the mountains, competing with the moon.
On the way back, Barchenko and his companions tried again to make an excursion to the forbidden Horn Island. The boy, the son of a local priest, agreed to transport the members of the expedition on his sailboat. But as soon as they approached the island, a strong wind rose, drove the sailboat away and broke the mast. In the end, the travelers washed up on a tiny, completely naked island, where they, shivering from the cold, spent the night. And in the morning, by oars, we somehow dragged ourselves to Lovozersk.

The members of the Lapland expedition returned to Petrograd in the late autumn of 1922. On November 29, Kondiain spoke at a meeting of the geographical section of the Society for World Studies with a report on the results of his trip, which was called In the country of fairy tales and sorcerers. In it, he spoke about the amazing finds made by the expedition, indicating, in his opinion, that the local Lapps descended from some more ancient cultural race.
And after some time, a sensational interview with the leader of the expedition and images of mysterious monuments of ancient Lapland culture appeared in the Petrograd newspapers.

"Prof. Barchenko discovered the remains ancient cultures relating to a period older than the era of the birth of Egyptian civilization, the Red Newspaper of February 19, 1923 informed readers.

Expedition of Arnold Kolbanovsky

Despite the huge public interest in the discoveries made by the Barchenko expedition, skeptics appeared almost immediately. In the summer of 1923, one of the doubters, a certain Arnold Kolbanovsky, organized his own expedition to the Lovozero region in order to see for himself the existence of monuments of an ancient civilization.
Together with Kolbanovsky, a group of objective observers went to the reserved places - the chairman of the Lovozero volost executive committee, his secretary and the volost policeman. First of all, Kolbanovsky tried to get to the enchanted Horn Island. On the evening of July 3, a detachment of brave travelers, despite witchcraft, swam across Lovozero and landed on Horn Island. An hour and a half survey of its territory, however, did not yield any results.
On the island - trees felled by storms, wildly, there are no idols - clouds of mosquitoes. They tried to find the enchanted deer antlers, which, according to Lapp legends, had long since sunk the advancing Swedes. These horns send the weather on anyone who tries to approach the island with bad intentions (and also for the purpose of inspection), especially women.
The trip report says nothing about whether Kolbanovsky managed to find at least one of the listed relics.
At night, in order not to attract attention to themselves, the detachment moved to the neighboring Seydozero. They examined the mysterious figure of the Old Man - it turned out that this was nothing more than weathered dark layers in a sheer rock, from a distance resembling the likeness of a human figure in their shape.
But there was still a stone pyramid, which served as one of the main arguments in favor of the existence of an ancient civilization. Kolbanovsky went to this wonderful monument of antiquity. And again failure: Came close. My eyes saw an ordinary stone swelling on a mountain peak.
Kolbanovsky's conclusions, which debunked all the discoveries of Alexander Barchenko, were published immediately after the end of the expedition by the Murmansk newspaper Polyarnaya Pravda. At the same time, the editors of the newspaper, in their comments, rather caustically characterized Barchenko's messages as hallucinations brought under the guise of a new Atlantis into the minds of gullible citizens of the mountains. Petrograd.
Already in our time, exactly 75 years after Barchenko, the Hyperborea-97 expedition headed by Valery Demin, Doctor of Philosophy, set off for Lovozero.
The main goal of Demin's expedition was not only to confirm or refute Barchenko's data, but also to find traces of the ancestral home of mankind - Hyperborea. In his report on the expedition, partly included in the book Secrets of the Russian People (1999), Demin writes the following:

“... And here I am on the ancient Hyperborean land, in the very center of the Kola Peninsula. The road across the isthmus stretches straight to the sacred Saami Seydozero. It is as if paved: rare cobblestones and slabs are neatly recessed into the taiga soil. How many thousands of years have people been walking on it? Or perhaps tens of thousands of years? Hello Hyperborea! I say. - Hello, dawn of world civilization! On the left, on the right, lingonberries are poured with myriads of rubies. Exactly 75 years ago, a detachment of Barchenko-Kondiain passed here. Towards the unknown. Now we are going - the Hyperborea-97 expedition, four people.
Reserved places. Snowman? Yes, everyone here just didn’t come across him, - says the conductor Ivan Mikhailovich Galkin. - Last year, very close to the kids scared to death: drove into the hut, and even pushed through the windows and doors all night. Until the huntsmen arrived in the morning. But they didn’t shoot - a man, after all ... Later, the same was confirmed by professionals who had been tracking down a relic hominoid for many years. And the Lopark grandmother reacted quite simply: Yes, my father fed one of these for many years.
Before reaching Seydozero, we see a well-hewn stone on the side of the road. On it mysterious letters barely show through - a trident and an oblique cross.
Here is Seydozero - calm, majestic and unique in its northern beauty. On the crests of the mountains seids loom lonely - the sacred Sami stones-menhirs.
If you climb higher into the mountains and wander along the rocks and screes, you will definitely come across a pyramid skillfully built of stones. There are plenty of them everywhere. Previously, they also came across below, along the shore of the lake, but were destroyed (taken apart stone by stone) somewhere in the 20-30s, during the struggle with the remnants of the dark past. In the same way, other Lappish sanctuaries were destroyed - built of deer antlers. "
Our first target (while the Sun favors photography) is a gigantic human-like image on a sheer cliff on the opposite side, stretching for 10 kilometers of the lake. A black, tragically frozen figure with arms outstretched crosswise. Dimensions can only be determined by eye, comparing with the height of the surrounding mountains, indicated on the map: 70 meters, or even more. You can get to the image itself on an almost absolutely vertical granite plane only with special climbing equipment.
In frontal sunlight, a mysterious figure is already visible from afar. From less than half way, it clearly from different points appears before the astonished gaze in all its mysterious incomprehensibility. The closer to the rock, the grander the spectacle. No one knows or understands how and when a giant petroglyph appeared in the center of Russian Lapland. And can it even be considered a petroglyph? According to the Sami legend, this is Kuyva, the leader of the treacherous foreigners, who almost exterminated the gullible and peaceful Lapps. But the Sami shaman-noid called for the help of the spirits and stopped the invasion of the invaders, and turned Kuiva himself into a shadow on the rock.
And the next day (it happened on August 9, 1997), the Russian officer Igor Boev, climbing Mount Ninchurt (Women's Breasts) to the tongues of unmelted snow, halfway to the top found the ruins of Hyperborea! A whole cultural center, weathered, half-covered with rocky soil and ironed a thousand times by ice and avalanches. Cyclopean ruins. Remains of fortifications. Giant hewn slabs of regular geometric shape. Steps leading to nowhere (in fact, we just do not yet know where they led twenty thousand years ago). Walls with cuts are clearly of man-made origin. Ritual well. A page of a stone manuscript with the sign of a trident and a flower resembling a lotus (exactly the same sign was on the cup-shaped talisman of the Barchenko-Kondiain expedition, but, unfortunately, no traces of that relic were found in the vaults of the Murmansk Museum of Local Lore).
And finally, perhaps the most impressive find. The remains of an ancient observatory (and this is in the deserted mountains beyond the Arctic Circle!) with a 15-meter chute leading up to the sky, to the stars, with two sights - below and above ... "

Thus, the Hyperborea-97 expedition confirmed and photographed the artifacts discovered by Alexander Barchenko: a two-kilometer paved road leading across the isthmus from Lovozero to Seidozero, pyramidal stones, an image of a giant black figure on a sheer cliff. At the same time, the members of this new expedition made several discoveries of their own. For example, they discovered a structure resembling the remains of an ancient observatory...

Almost every summer, dozens of inquisitive people go to Lovozero with the intention of finding traces of the mythical Hyperborea. Local authorities, dissatisfied with the influx of reckless tourists to the Seidozero state reserve, invited four doctors of sciences from Moscow in the summer of 2000 - biological, technical, geological and military - and asked to find out how things really are with Hyperborea.
Here is what one of the members of this expedition said:

“I confess that I myself am a dreamer and, of course, I would very much like to see traces of proto-civilization. When I came to the isthmus between Lovozero and Seydozero and through the golden birches I saw a road made of huge slabs, the remains of some cyclopean structures, mysterious arches of underground passages, I was shocked. Well, where, pray tell, did all this come from in a remote and deserted place? For a while I believed - yes, it really could be the remains of an ancient civilization! But, alas... Even with all our efforts, we did not find any signs of Hyperborea.
Upon careful acquaintance with the area, it immediately became clear how the road was formed from huge slabs. The fact is that the mountain range here is composed of graphite shale. In ancient times, rock was weathered in the rocks, water got into the cracks, flat geometric blocks gradually broke out, which slid down the slope. These blocks, crawling one on top of the other, slid down, down to the bottom of the lake, and formed a road. If you carefully look at the rocky slope, there are visible traces of the exit of these blocks.
We got to the hundred-meter image of God and the Seer (its other name is the Running Lapp) and got upset. Two faults (vertical and horizontal) in the rock, above them a platform overgrown with moss - from afar, with imagination, they can actually be mistaken for the figure of a man with a halo over his head. But close up it is clearly visible that this is a system of cracks, that is, a natural phenomenon, and not the creation of human or alien hands.
We visited the island of Horn, the penetration of which allegedly threatens with death to ordinary people. Since ancient times, shamans have performed their rituals here, and so that outsiders do not climb here, they spread rumors about the taboo. But exalted intellectuals who believe in proto-civilization magical powers, really start to tremble near such places. Our expedition had no effect on our stay on the island.
The Hyperboreans enthusiastically described to us their encounters with Bigfoot. According to their stories, a huge, five meters high, shaggy humanoid creature from time to time galloped along the banks of the Lovozero, googling and uttering screams.
We found this yeti, talked. Leshak turned out to be a frail local boy. Life in those places cannot be called fun, so he came up with entertainment for himself. He sewed a robe from a deer skin and on white nights, taking it on his chest, rushes around the lake with pleasure (along the coastal water so as not to leave traces), causing amazement among visitors.
It is known that kayakers have repeatedly died on Lovozero, but there is no reason to associate their deaths with some mystical phenomena. The weather in these parts can change within a few minutes, while a high, up to five meters, wave suddenly rises on the lake. The locals know that a wave may come, but they don't know at what point it will rise, and therefore they never follow the visually accessible path. They sail close to the shore, along a safe fairway. And give space to visitors. Here in their fragile kayaks they fall under this wave, turn over. No inflatable vest will help in this situation. In deserted places, there is no one to come to the rescue, and in icy water a person will not last long.
As for the visions that Hyperboreans visit during meditation in places chosen by shamans for shamanism, then, according to the authoritative statement of the aborigines who supply visitors with alcoholic beverages, after three bottles of vodka, one may not dream of such a dream ... "

These observations only confirm the old truth that everyone sees only what they want to see. Admirers of Barchenko's ideas, developed by Demin, see traces of civilization where they never existed...

Russia is the most unusual and amazing country in the world. This is not a formula of official patriotism, this is the absolute truth. Unusual, because infinitely diverse. Amazing because it is always unpredictable. The tender and gentle spring sun sinks in a deadly snowstorm in ten minutes, and a bright triple rainbow shines after the flying black cloud. Tundras are combined with desert dunes, swampy taiga gives way to monsoon forests, and boundless plains smoothly turn into equally boundless mountain ranges. The greatest rivers of Eurasia carry their waters through Russia - in no other country in the world is there such an abundance of great flowing waters. , Ob, Irtysh, Yenisei, Amur ... And the largest lakes in the world - the salty Caspian and fresh. And the longest steppes in the world - from the banks of the Donets to the Amur region. To match the geographical abundance - the diversity of peoples, their customs, religions, cultures. Nenets reindeer herders set up their chums next to well-maintained high-rise buildings. Tuvans and Buryats roam with herds and yurts along federal highways. In the Kazan Kremlin, a large new mosque is adjacent to an old Orthodox cathedral; in the city of Kyzyl, a Buddhist suburgan turns white against the background of a golden-domed church, and not far from them, the breeze flutters colorful ribbons at the entrance to the shaman's yurt...

Russia is a country where you won't get bored. Everything is full of surprises. A beautiful asphalt highway is suddenly replaced by a broken primer, and it goes into an impassable swamp. To overcome the last 30 kilometers of the path, it sometimes takes three times as long as the previous ten thousand. And the most unexpected thing in this mysterious country is the people. Able to live in the most difficult, even impossible natural conditions: in the mosquito taiga, in the waterless steppe, in the highlands and in flooded valleys, with 50-degree heat and 60-degree frost ... Having learned to survive, I note, by the way, under the yoke of various authorities, none of which has ever been to them merciful... Created in these swamps, forests, steppes and mountains a unique culture, or rather, a multitude of unique cultures. They created the great history of the Russian state - a history also consisting of countless great, heroic and tragic stories.

Living witnesses of the historical past, the work of well-known, and in the vast majority of cases, unknown Russians - architectural monuments. The architectural wealth of Russia is great and diverse. It reveals the beauty of the Russian land, and the ingenuity of the mind of its people, and sovereign power, but most importantly, the greatness of the human spirit. Russia was built over a thousand years under the most difficult conditions imaginable. Among the harsh and meager nature, in continuous external wars and internal struggles. Everything great that was erected on Russian soil was erected by the power of faith - faith in the truth, in a bright future, in God. Therefore, in architectural monuments, with all their constructive, functional and ideological diversity, there is a common beginning - the desire from earth to heaven, from darkness to light.

It is simply impossible to tell in one book about all the wonderful places in Russia - natural, historical, poetic, industrial, memorial. Twenty such books would not have been enough for this. The publishers and I decided: I will write only about those places where I myself have been, which I have seen with my own eyes. Therefore, in our publication, Klyuchevskaya Sopka does not smoke, the islands of the Kuril ridge do not rise from the Pacific waters, the white cover does not sparkle ... I have not been to these and many other places, I dream of visiting and writing about them. Many remarkable monuments of history and culture were not included in the book. St. George's Cathedral in Yuryev-Polsky and St. Sophia's Cathedral in Vologda, the Kremlins of Tula and Kolomna, the estates of Vorobyevo in Kaluga and Maryino in Kursk region, the buildings of the local history museum in Irkutsk and the drama theater in Samara, the Saratov Conservatory and the "City House" in Khabarovsk ... The list is endless.

In addition, we decided not to get carried away with the story of big cities, about millions of megacities (limiting ourselves to a selective review of the architectural riches of Moscow and St. Petersburg), but to give preference to distant Russia, living away from wide highways and from the noise of business and industrial centers.

How old is humanity? Modern scientists, as a rule, call the figure 40 thousand years - from the moment the Cro-Magnon man appeared on Earth. This is the standard time interval allocated to human history in educational, scientific and reference literature. However, there are other figures that do not fit into the framework of officialdom. 400 thousand years - such a date was calculated by ancient historians - Chaldean, Egyptian, Greek - and projected onto Russia by Lomonosov.

(Actually, in the scale of events of world history there is one more, clearly fixed date, which the imagination cannot contain modern people: according to the rigorous calculations of astronomers and priests of the ancient Maya, the history of mankind began in 5,041,738 BC!)

Literally, the ethnonym Hyperboreans means "those who live beyond Boreas (North wind)", or simply - "those who live in the North". Many ancient authors reported about them. One of the most authoritative scientists of the Ancient World, Pliny the Elder, wrote about the Hyperboreans as a real ancient people who lived near the Arctic Circle and were genetically connected with the Hellenes through the cult of Apollo Hyperborean. Here is what is literally said in the Natural History (IV, 26):

Behind these [Ripean] mountains, on the other side of Aquilon, a happy people (if you can believe it), called the Hyperboreans, reaches very old age and is glorified by wonderful legends. It is believed that there are the loops of the world and the extreme limits of the circulation of the luminaries. The sun shines there for half a year, and this is only one day when the sun does not hide (as the ignorant would think) from the spring equinox to the autumn equinox, the luminaries there rise only once a year at the summer solstice, and set only at the winter.

This country is all in the sun, with a favorable climate and is devoid of any harmful wind. Homes for these inhabitants are groves, forests; the cult of the Gods is managed by individuals and the whole society; strife and all sorts of diseases are unknown there. Death comes there only from satiety with life. There can be no doubt about the existence of this people."

Even from this small passage from the "Natural History" it is not difficult to get a clear idea of Hyperborea. First - and most importantly - it was located where the Sun may not set for several months. In other words, we can only talk about the polar regions, those that in Russian folklore were called the Sunflower Kingdom.

Another important circumstance: the climate in the North of Eurasia in those days was completely different. This is confirmed by the latest comprehensive research conducted recently in the north of Scotland on international program: they showed that even 4 thousand years ago the climate at this latitude was comparable to the Mediterranean, and there were a large number of heat-loving animals.

However, even earlier, Russian oceanographers and paleontologists found that in the 30-15 millennium BC. the climate of the Arctic was quite mild, and the Arctic Ocean was warm, despite the presence of glaciers on the continent. Approximately the same conclusions and chronological framework were reached by American and Canadian scientists. In their opinion, during the Wisconsin glaciation in the center of the Arctic Ocean there was a temperate climate zone favorable for such flora and fauna that could not exist in the circumpolar and polar territories. North America.

The main confirmation of the indisputable fact of a favorable climatic situation is the annual migration of migratory birds to the North - a genetically programmed memory of the warm ancestral home. Indirect evidence in favor of the existence of an ancient highly developed civilization in the northern latitudes can be powerful stone structures and other megalithic monuments located here everywhere (the famous cromlech of Stonehenge in England, the alley of menhirs in French Brittany, the stone labyrinths of Solovki and the Kola Peninsula).

The map of G. Mercator, the most famous cartographer of all time, who relied on some ancient knowledge, has been preserved, where Hyperborea is depicted as a huge Arctic continent with a high mountain (Meru) in the middle.

Despite the meager information of historians, the ancient world had extensive ideas and important details about the life and customs of the Hyperboreans. And all because the roots of long-standing and close ties with them go back to the most ancient community of the Proto-Indo-European civilization, naturally connected with both the Arctic Circle and the "end of the earth" - the northern coastline of Eurasia and the ancient mainland and island culture.

It was here, as Aeschylus writes: "on the edge of the earth", "in the deserted wilderness of the wild Scythians" - by order of Zeus, the rebellious Prometheus was chained to a rock: contrary to the prohibition of the Gods, he gave people fire, discovered the secret of the movement of stars and luminaries, taught the art of addition letters, farming and sailing. But the land where Prometheus, tormented by a dragon-like kite, languished until Heracles (who received the epithet of Hyperborean for this) freed him, was not always so deserted and homeless.

Everything looked different when a little earlier here, on the edge of the Oikumene, the famous hero of antiquity, Perseus, came to the Hyperboreans to fight the Gorgon Medusa and get magic winged sandals here, for which he was also nicknamed Hyperborean.

Apparently, it is not without reason that many ancient authors, including the largest ancient historians, persistently talk about the flying abilities of the Hyperboreans, that is, about their possession of flight techniques. True, Lucian described them as such, not without irony. Could it be that the ancient inhabitants of the Arctic mastered the technique of aeronautics? Why not? After all, many images of probable aircraft have been preserved - such as balloons- among the rock paintings of Lake Onega.

Archaeologists never cease to be surprised by the abundance of so-called "winged objects" constantly found in Eskimo burial grounds and attributed to the most distant times in the history of the Arctic.

Here it is another symbol of Hyperborea! Made from walrus tusk (whence their amazing preservation), these outstretched wings, which do not fit into any catalogs, themselves suggest ancient flying devices. Subsequently, these symbols, passed down from generation to generation, spread throughout the world and entrenched in almost all ancient cultures: Egyptian, Assyrian, Hittite, Persian, Aztec, Maya, and so on - up to Polynesia.

There is no doubt that ancient Hyperborea is directly related to ancient history Russia, and the Russian people and their language are directly connected with the legendary country of the Hyperboreans, which disappeared or dissolved in the depths of the ocean and land. No wonder, after all, Nostradamus in his "Centuries" referred to the Russians as "Hyperborean people".

The refrain of Russian fairy tales about the Sunflower Kingdom, which is located far away, also represent memories of ancient times, when our ancestors came into contact with the Hyperboreans and were themselves Hyperboreans. There are more detailed descriptions sunflower kingdom. So, in the epic fairy tale from the collection of P.N. Rybnikov, it is told how the hero flew to the Sunflower Kingdom on a flying wooden eagle (a hint of all the same flying Hyperboreans):

He flew to the kingdom under the sun,
Gets down from an airplane eagle
And he began to wander around the kingdom,
Walk along the Sunflower.
In this kingdom of the Sunflower
There was a tower - golden tops,
The circle of this tower was a white courtyard
About ty gates about twelve,
About ty watchmen about strict ...

But the legendary Sunflower Kingdom also has a modern exact geographical address. One of the oldest common Indo-European names for the Sun is Kolo (hence the "ring", "wheel" and "bell"). In ancient times, it corresponded to the pagan solar Deity Kolo-Kolyada, in whose honor the caroling holiday (the day of the winter solar solstice) was celebrated and archaic ritual songs were sung - carols bearing the imprint of the ancient cosmist worldview:

... There are three golden-domed towers;
In the first tower, the young moon is bright,
In the second tower there is a red sun,
In the third teremu, asterisks are frequent.
Young is a bright month - then our master.
The red sun is the hostess,
Asterisks are frequent - children are small.

It was from the name of the ancient Solntsegod Kolo-Kolyada that the name of the Kola River and the entire Kola Peninsula arose.

The cultural antiquity of the Soloveisky (Kola) land is evidenced by the stone labyrinths available here (up to 5 m in diameter), similar to those scattered throughout the Russian and European North with a migration to the Crete-Mycenaean (the famous labyrinth with the Minotaur), ancient Greek and other world cultures.

Many explanations have been proposed regarding the purpose of the Solovetsky stone spirals: burial grounds, altars, models of fishing traps. Latest in time: labyrinths - antenna models for communication with extraterrestrial or parallel civilizations.

The explanation closest to the truth of the meaning and purpose of the Russian northern labyrinths was given by the well-known in the past domestic historian Science D.O. Svyatsky. In his opinion, the passages of the labyrinth, forcing the traveler to look for a way out for a long time and in vain and, finally, nevertheless leading him outside, are nothing more than a symbol of the wandering of the Sun during the polar semi-annual night and semi-annual day in circles or, rather, in a large spiral. projected onto the firmament.

In the cult labyrinths, processions were probably arranged to symbolically depict the wandering of the Sun. Russian northern labyrinths not only served for walking inside them, but also acted as a reminder scheme for conducting magical round dances.

The northern labyrinths are also characterized by the fact that next to them there are hills (pyramids) of stones. There are especially many of them in Russian Lapland, where their culture intersects with traditional Sami sanctuaries - seids. Like the Lovozero Tundras, they are found all over the world and, along with the classical Egyptian and Indian pyramids, as well as mounds, are reminder symbols of the polar Ancestral Homeland and the universal Mount Meru, located at the North Pole. It is surprising that stone spiral labyrinths and pyramids have been preserved in the Russian North at all. Until recently, few people were interested in them, and the key to unraveling what they contained secret meaning was lost.

More than 10 stone labyrinths have been found so far on the Kola Peninsula, mainly on the seashore. Most of those who wrote about Russian labyrinths reject the very possibility of their rapprochement with the Cretan megaliths: the Cretans, they say, could not visit Kola Peninsula, since it would take them several years to reach the Barents Sea along the Atlantic Ocean, bypassing Scandinavia, although Odysseus, as you know, traveled to Ithaca for at least 10 years.

Meanwhile, nothing prevents us from imagining the process of spreading labyrinths in reverse order - not from South to North, but vice versa - from North to South. Indeed, the Cretans themselves, the creators of the Aegean civilization, hardly visited the Kola Peninsula, although this is not completely excluded, since it was part of the Hyperborea zone, which had constant contacts with the Mediterranean. But the great-ancestors of the Cretans and Aegeans probably lived in the north of Europe, including the Kola Peninsula, where they left traces-labyrinths that have survived to this day, the prototypes of all subsequent structures of this kind.

The path "from the Varangians to the Greeks" was not laid on the verge of the 1st and 2nd millennia AD, linking Scandinavia, Russia and Byzantium for a short time. It existed from time immemorial, acting as a natural migration bridge between the North and the South.

And so the great-ancestors of modern peoples left one after another along this "bridge" - each in his own time, each in his own direction. And they were forced to do this by an unprecedented climatic catastrophe associated with a sharp cooling and caused by a shift in the earth's axis and, consequently, the poles.

The earliest mention of a mysterious country called Hyperborea dates back to ancient times. Back in the 7th century BC, the ancient Greek thinker and poet Hesiod, who was the founder of didactic poetry, spoke about it in his poem "Theogony", which translates as "Genealogy of the gods". The historian Herodotus was also interested in the legacy of Hyperborea; sang odes to her and Homer. In Rome, figures also often turned to the topic of this unknown civilization, in particular, the poet Ovid wrote about it.

In the vision of all these respected figures, the heritage of Hyperborea, like the country itself, is presented as something mystical, but quite real. It is believed that Hyperborea, whose forgotten history was the main theme scientific discussions in ancient Greece, was a northern country inhabited by a hardworking and skilled people. Today, the research of Hyperborea attracts no less attention, but, unfortunately, the matter never came to truly major discoveries, however, first things first.

Hyperborea is a mysterious ancient country.
In the vision of historical figures, the Hyperboreans were talented people, with a very well-developed art and artistic taste in general. This Hyperborea, in the main, attracted a powerful celestial. Almost every year, Apollo left his native Delphi and appeared in the lands of the Hyperboreans to take a break from worries and labors in the circle of poets, artists, people who understand him and share his aspirations and interests.

Based on ancient texts, it can be assumed that in that era, in the northern latitudes where Hyperborea was supposedly located, a subtropical climate reigned, so it is not surprising that people of art inhabited this fertile, in every sense, land. Here was born Abaris - a soothsayer and priest of Apollo. Gaia and Uranus conceived on these lands Aristaeus, the hero of ancient Greece.

The warm breath of the ocean, which Hyperborea could boast of, contributed to the birth of not only highly artistic natures, but also people with an enviable technical mindset. Proof of this are the multiple masterpieces of the architecture of ancient Greece. A striking example of this is the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. Hyperborea and its inhabitants had a hand in its construction, at least the legends say so. The temple was built in honor of the victory of the son of Zeus over the monster Python.

The Greeks and Romans loved the northern people so much that even the sea washing Hyperborea was called Kronidsky - in honor of the father of Zeus, the god Kron. This location is expensive and requires a lot. The Hyperboreans honorably justified the trust not only of the Greeks, but also of the people, neither in word nor in deed giving cause for discontent or ridicule. The country of Hyperborea was filled with noble minds. The life of local residents was an example of the highest spirituality, creative and physical purity.

Hyperborea and odes in her honor, quite naturally, call out skepticism from modern man. After all, poetic natures, praising the amazing land, are almost completely devoid of objectivity and a realistic view of things. The secrets of Hyperborea cannot be classified as mysticism. But from the opinion of Pliny the Elder, who was the greatest ancient Roman scientist, you simply cannot brush aside and close your eyes to him. Hyperborea also fell into his focus. In his works, he talks about her as a country located beyond the Riphean mountains, not far from Aquilon. In other words, these are the lands "beyond Boreas", i.e. northern lands. On the Riphean mountains, according to Greek myths, the north wind Boreas lived.

Pliny the Elder argued that in those places, in the lands of Hyperborea, there are loops of the world, and the extreme limits of the circulation of the luminaries. Daylight hours last six months, and human life is very long and happy. Death in Hyperborea is a rare guest and comes only to those who are tired of happiness and all the blessings of life.

However, the great and mystical Hyperborea was known not only to the ubiquitous Romans and Greeks. amazing northern land is mentioned in the Indian Rigveda, and even in the Iranian Avesta. Some Chinese historical chronicles speak of her, she is also described in German epics. Mentions of Hyperborea are found in the mythology of countless peoples and civilizations.

A detailed description of the northern lights by peoples living much further south finally destroys all skepticism about the fact that as a result of a natural cataclysm that led to a sharp cooling in the lands of Hyperborea, the ethnic group living there was forced to leave the once fertile continent and migrate to others, to the southern and at the same time more habitable areas. The fact that Hyperborea existed is also evidenced by the Atlas published in 1595 by the Flemish cartographer Gerard Mercator (1512-1594). He was published by the son of a leader after the death of his father, however, this does not change the essence. "Atlas" is a set of maps and descriptions of European states. There is also Hyperborea among them. This atlas in our days is of great interest to a narrow circle of specialists. The general public, which is little interested in cartographic projections, is attracted only by one map, which depicts Hyperborea - mysterious land, a state that, in some mystical way, has been hiding for thousands of years from the eyes of the curious.

Hyperborea is the forgotten history of the mystical land.
Gerard's map depicts a certain mainland, surrounded around the entire perimeter by a mountain range. In the center is a huge lake, with four full-flowing rivers flowing from it. Rivers divide the earth into four roughly identical parts. In the very center of the lake is an island. According to ancient legends, the mainland is Hyperborea, the forgotten history of which excites the minds of thousands of researchers.

The mysterious mainland on the map is washed by the sea, and land is depicted behind it. All her curves coastlines painfully familiar to every modern person. These are the borders of the northern territories of the American continent and Eurasia. Greenland and Iceland lie in the palm of your hand, and on the side you can see Hyperborea, the forgotten history of the state, beckoning the research community. It is also interesting that on the map of these lands there is no hint of eternal winter and, in general, of any snow or ice.

Gerard lived a long life, traveled a lot. It is quite possible that Hyperborea, the forgotten history of the mystical state, really opened up to his eyes. And the loving son published his father's works, involuntarily making him involved in the northern land, sung in ancient poems.

Searches and researches of Hyperborea.
Everything romantic and incomprehensible has always aroused and aroused an unbiased interest in the community. The last three hundred years a mysterious halo the greatest mystery history passes either to the Maya Indians, or to the unknown Atlanteans, but now it has gone to the Hyperboreans. This question, the study of Hyperborea, could not be ignored by any sane and educated person, at least partially familiar with Hyperborea. Naturally, in the first place, everyone was worried about where the mysterious land was located.

Interest in the scientific and not only community, which inspired the research of Hyperborea, was caused by the ruins of powerful ancient structures and inexplicable finds: fortress walls, towers, castles found in Northern Scotland, on the Orkney and Shetland Islands. It is noteworthy that their age is much older than the Roman and Norman fortifications, which is similar to the cities of Hyperborea. There can be no doubt that a powerful and highly developed civilization once existed here, but was it a Hyperborean country? Or did research on Hyperborea go in the wrong direction?

Indeed, why shouldn't she end up in Greenland, on the Kola Peninsula, on Taimyr, or drown in the waters of the Arctic Ocean? For example, the underwater ridges of Lomonosov and Mendeleev could well have been fertile lands in the distant past. Hyperborea research would confirm this fact and everyone would be happy. But not everything is so simple.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, among Russian researchers, the opinion was strengthened that the mysterious country was located on the Kola Peninsula. This was facilitated by the research of Hyperborea by enthusiasts who got acquainted with the Lapps, with the people inhabiting the icy lands of Greenland.

Almost immediately after this assumption was put forward, there was talk of sacred three-dimensional images carved on granite rocks. Investigations of Hyperborea by enthusiasts did not confirm, but did not refute such assumptions either. These images could be approached only through secret clearings buried in difficult and snowy forests. The search for Hyperborea was required, since they began to say that those who mastered the secret of the ancient Hyperboreans become equal with the gods in power and might.

The research of Hyperborea was not given due attention. The proceedings required serious scientific expedition to the Kola Peninsula. This was prevented World War. Then the granule revolution, and the issue of research into Hyperborea was abandoned for a very, very long time.

Only in the early twenties they returned to this topic. Moreover, the initiator was one of the leaders of the Bolshevik government, the head of the Cheka, Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky, known for his research streak. Where and when he learned about the research of Hyperborea is unknown, however, the fact remains that the attention of the scientific community was drawn to this trembling topic.

Heritage of Hyperborea, an expedition in search of ancient secrets.
The person who was ready to carry out an expedition deep into Greenland turned out to be Alexander Barchenko. In the early twenties he worked at the Institute of Professor Vladimir Bekhterev. There he became interested in the heritage of Hyperborea, and indeed the ancient country itself.

In 1920, Barchenko, as part of a small but professional expedition, went to the Kola Peninsula, to the area of Lake Lovozero in search of the heritage of Hyperborea. The atmosphere and the weather were, to put it mildly, unfriendly: tundra, impenetrable taiga, hills. Frosty and dark polar night, replacing the sultry and almost devoid of Sun day.

Here Barchenko got acquainted with the Lapps, learns a lot about the heritage of Hyperborea and imbued with the mysticism of the local lands. As a result of this expedition, the researchers discovered two massive rectangular granite stones, oriented by their faces to the cardinal points, a stone pyramid. The legacy of Hyperborea was found.

In addition, on the land of Rogovsky Island, located in the very middle of Seydozero, several man-made holes in the ground were found, clearly made by human hands and littered with stones. Ancient Hyperborea is filled with secrets. So, when approaching, not to mention descending, to these manholes, the members of the expedition began to experience a terrible headache, fell into depression and were subjected to panic attacks. All this indicated that these were the finds, this was the legacy of Hyperborea, but was it really so ?!

The further course of events of the expedition causes alert bewilderment. Barchenko meets with Dzerzhinsky, talks with him for a very long time. The content of their conversation is hidden. But already in 1923, another larger expedition, this time set off in search of the heritage of Hyperborea, was equipped in the area of Seidozero and Lovozero.

Arnold Kolbanovsky led the second expedition. His team included observers from the local administration and the expedition guide Barchenko. The civilization of Hyperborea attracted researchers, no wonder that they retraced the entire path that had previously been covered by the Barchenko expedition.

Kolbanovsky's report almost completely refuted the sensational report made by Barchenko. According to Kolbansky, all the finds discovered by Barchenko are of natural origin, and the pyramids are nothing more than simple rocks. The legacy of Hyperborea turned out to be not a legacy at all, but the whims of a dreamy researcher.

After these events, the Polar Star newspaper wrote a devastating article about Barchenko's expedition and how the author invented the legacy of Hyperborea and deliberately misled the scientific community. However, this did not knock Barchenko down, he continued to work, and his subsequent works enjoyed well-deserved respect among colleagues.

So did the mysterious Hyperborean land exist? Revived traces of Hyperborea - fact or fiction? This mystery has not yet been solved. But people at all times sought to satisfy their curiosity. And one can hope that the legacy of Hyperborea will be revealed sooner or later. There will be not a single expedition, there will be new discoveries, facts and great explorers.
